Eating Fekarat and Ibi for four days in a row grows very monotonous.
Criani had to agree with this statement whole heartedly.
She sighed as she threw one of the poor animal’s bones into a hole she had dug to get rid of them. Her hunts had not been productive in the past few days, and frankly she was getting tired of the same old thing. While Avani offered her sheron meat, she refused to take any more than she felt entitled to. She also wasn’t about to go and attack some poor animal that belonged to someone else.
So, as she filled in the hole that held the remains of her latest meal, she scanned the recesses of her mind on what animals were common enough in this part of Serenia, and that were not Fekarat and Ibi. She wanted to have something that tasted bold and different.
Her mind wandered back to when she was little and her father had brought home a small bird looking animal… but with a funny tail. He called it a Pesnick. It tasted so good after it was all cooked up. The meat had melted in her mouth and was just wonderful!
She wondered… Could she go and hunt some?
She would have to go back to the area that hare clan had once called home, and search the forests there.

Being back in her clan’s old territory after many years was painful to Criani. It was sad not to smell her clan mates around the old area. She didn’t linger long over the grassy fields and went straight into the forest where her father and the other’s had hunted long ago. It would be perfect if she could spot one of the colorful birds right off instead of having.
She flew deep into the forested area and lay down to wait for a sight of the birds.
She sat there for what seemed like hours, though the birds in the trees sure did sound lovely. She twitched her ears and could hear the babbling of a brook nearby, and so went in search of it for a drink.
As she approached the brook, she remembered it slightly in her memory. It had been the place her father had shown her how to manipulate water with her magic… where she first heard the call of a Peisio.
She smiled and reached out with her magic to say thank you to her old friend, and could hear it laughing back at her, much like brooks did. She smiled, eased her magic back, and then took a drink of the cool water.
Settling down near the brook, she let the warmth of the spring sun creep below her scales to warm her. It was such a nice day…
Before she knew it, she fell asleep.

Criani woke with a start. She didn’t know what had woken her, but something had. After a large yawn, she looked around. The sun’s light told her it was close to evening. She must have slept for some time.
Standing and stretching, she took flight up and out of the forested area. She wouldn’t be able to find those birds today. Perhaps one day, but she wouldn’t now. It felt nice to visit the old home territory. Hopefully she would come again soon.
And with that, she set off for home.
