It was one of those few rare times she didn't have to wait on the field too long for someone to show up. There was someone familiar nearby, and Claude was quick to capitalize on it. "Ever." She called out in an even tone to the other hunter. She had her pistol summoned and pointed it at him.
"Spar me."
That was definitely the way to greet him.

There was a quiet pause, a blink as Ever sought out the source of the challenge, and then a breath of a sigh as his attention settled on Claude. He should, perhaps, have drawn his own weapon in response, but instead he tipped his head up and flicked a hand under his chin, pointedly. A rude assessment of her challenge.
"Is this just how girls greet me on the island? What is it about this place?"
If she wanted him to fight back, she might just have to shoot him.

if you wanna just start by shooting, I'll give up init. XD
"I'm not a girl." She told him flatly. "I'm a pirate."
Claude then didn't bother waiting, and instead fired a shot at him. The corners of her lips pulled up a bit after she had pulled the trigger. "Besides. You're the one who threatened me to the training fields for an a** beating, first." Might as well make him cash that in now.

There was a brief pause, as the bullet struck his shield, Ever cringing and then regretting giving in to the urge -- because it would have been way cooler to just stand, serious, and stare back at her. An opportunity lost. He shook his head a little as he drew his weapon, debating.
He could not fight back. Could just defend for a while.
Instead he ducked in, within her reach -- all in a rush -- to drag his own blade across her stomach. Ever was a skinny ********, but with Amory behind him, he could still pack a solid blow.
Ever had a close range weapon. Of course he had a close range weapon. Almost everyone she spared had a close range weapon. She was pleased though, that he decided to spar her. She took the hit, and immediately after wards started to move away from him.
Her torso twisted while she moved, firing a shot back at him.

"Hey, Claude," He offered it idly as he stepped in closer: sweeping his dagger out at her again, struggling to stay close enough that it would be difficult for her to get a good shot in. Of course, she was trained with a gun, and Ever had little experience. Surely she could manage.
Still, he tried.
"I have a great idea. How about we take this outside the shields." The sarcasm dripped off his words. "Doesn't that sound fun?"
"Mm?" Ever was a quick little ******** when he wanted to be, and somehow she wasn't surprised. Claude wasn't expecting she'd come out on top of this spar anyways, much less against a intermediate, so she didn't care as much to dodge.
"That sounds delightful, Ever." Claude deadpanned. "We'll take it outside, I'll kick you in the ribs, you'll most likely snap in half--" Because he was a damn rail "--and then, possibly, you're not-boyfriend can take up the gauntlet of avenging you. The cycle continues." She fired a shot back at him after that.

"I suppose I should at least be glad you're fighting someone close to your own size, this time," he offered back, not-quite sliding out of the way of her bullet -- which collided against his shield just hard enough to make him wince.
This time, he wasn't fast enough to get within her range in time to counterattack.
Claude let out an incredulous snort. "Someone close to my own size?" She eyed Ever in all his rail thing glory, clearly finding that to be a joke. She was pleased though she managed to get out of his range, and didn't waste anytime in unleashing her charged attack.
She took aim at the other, bracing her pistol with her other hand and sprayed with him a volley of bullets.

Those hurt: left stinging bruises where they struck, made Ever draw in a breath and curl one arm in around his ribs as he stepped in close to her. Instead of slicing, this time, he faked and then brought the metal sheath of his weapon in hard. He could bruise back.
She was expecting the slice, and the jab of the weapon hurt. She just gave another soft snort, amused. She wouldn't dignify that with a reply. Since he was close to her she pistol whipped him, and then drew back.
"Close to promotion?" Claude found herself asking.

"Me? Are you asking if I'm close to promotion?" The idea left him somewhat bemused as he lashed out again. It was strange how comfortable he seemed, now, with the weapon in hand. Ever still wasn't graceful, but there was something efficient about the brutal, slightly-jerky way that he moved.
"I doubt it. They already promoted me once. Is there a guarantee they'll do it again?"
"You're not deaf." Claude drawled, which was followed by a small grunt as Ever landed another solid hit. She pulled away from the other, returning firing. "Well, if you're working hard, then yes."
Claude quirked a brow. "Hardly working?"

"You're the one who still hasn't gotten her bars." He rolled his eyes as he said it -- and then, with a breath of a sigh, gave into his weapon's constant insistence that he release his charge.
To Claude, just now, it would look like nothing had happened except for Ever taking a step back and shaking himself out.
"And how long have you been here?"

"What does me becoming an intermediate have to do with you becoming a full hunter?"
Claude was incredibly close to getting promoted, anyways. She noted that he didn't attack, and that had her curious. She switched her pistol to her other hand and fired off a shot at him. "Six months."
