Threadfall's frequency made it difficult to catch a moment or two for fun, even in Trine, and so Sh'en was hopeful and feeling a little deprived as he made his way to a nice, private meeting place with a skein of wine - who said he was too young - to await R'an. They had a date.

Kalteth lounged on a rock that, for now, she had decided was 'hers', enjoying the sun and, basically, the world. With Trine emptying, it was easier to find a spot closer to Sh'en... and R'an's... Weyr, and she liked that. There were many things to like. Sh'en's little green flit, Fib, napped next to her, cozy in between the dragon's leg and the stone.

Kalteth was the first thing Diedre noticed. She hadn't seen the dragon since her brother had Impressed, but the mottled markings were recognizable. It was what told her that this was her brother's Weyr, that all the directions had pointed her right. Markscout, her blue, fluttered nearby, unimpressed by the weyr and its absent grandeur as she approached the weyr and looked inside. No Sh'en... Alas. Having nowhere else to turn, she turned to the dragon. "Where can I find Sh'en?" she asked it uncomfortably.

Kalteth regarded her with curious blue eyes. she said, fib stirring from her slumber as the dragon leaned in to sniff the stern human.

Sh'en frowned. Didi? Here? he said.

Kalteth protested. She wasn't so keen on chatting with humans as she had been as a hatchling.

Kalteth nodded and stood up, Fib grumbling at being woken. Kalteth laughed, Of course, she had no idea who this was. She turned, flicking her tail in what she felt was an Obvious come-on.

Er... so the dragon wanted her to follow? Well... Stranger things had happened. Diedre did so, Markscout shrieking a greeting to Fib as they went.

Fib... ignored him.

Syriacuth was doing a patrol, flying around his weyr while R'an waited outside his weyr. Since the Thread had been falling so much more recently, Syriacuth and him had buckled down and been doing patrols, keeping an eye out for the deadly silver strands. The serious pair wanted to do their duty to the weyr and the people around Trine, but they also felt some excitement at their job. It was daring but it was also the responsible thing to do.

Especially now that so many were leaving. Trine was becoming much more roomy and they needed the extra help as much as R'an could spare.

Sadly this meant that his budding relationship with Sh'en wasn't very easy to keep up with. He and the younger rider spent as much time together as they could but they couldn't always spend ENOUGH time together to satisfy either of them.

Once Syria confirmed there was nothing in the skies for the moment, R'an started heading to their date. He had a large smile on his face, ready to see his younger lover.

Syriacuth stayed in the sky, more enjoying himself than anything after his patrol and he crooned as he saw Kalteth on the ground, since her flight he had been a bit more affectionate towards the green than before, but he was still a flirt with all the females. 'My dear Kalteth, you have a little human following you.' He teased as he watched her leading some human in the same direction R'an had headed.

she said, looking back at Diedre curiously,

Sh'en began to pace, unable to wait still. Diedre coming made things complicated, and he wanted whatever fleeting moments he could have for fun with R'an. But... he hadn't seen her in turns. Ah well, he could figure it out.

Diedre followed her strange guide uncertainly. Dragons didn't lead people to doom, of course, but whether the dragon was leading her where she needed to go – or leading her at all – was completely in the air.

she giggled, watching Diedre.

Sh'en brightened as R'an ended up being the first to arrive. “R'an!” he called out to him, waving, but he had soon crossed the distance anyway and, with his usual sprightly energy, was already in the older man's arms, laying a passionate kiss on R'an's lips. “Mmm...” he said, finally breaking away, his breathing a little hurried from the kiss, his pale face flushed. “You're in for a treat today.” he commented mischeviously, “Apparently, you're going to meet my sister.”

Syriacuth landed close to Kalteth and trotted over, his eyes whirling with uncertainity as he caught sight of Diedre but he eventually just ignored her and nuzzled Kalteth briefly as she led the girl to their riders. 'I'm blue.' He said with a tilt of his head. 'Does that make me pretty?' He teased

Meanwhile R'an caught Sh'en and embraced him, returning his kiss just as eagerly. He had missed Sh'en being in his arms. He grinned and stroked Sh'en's cheek as he pulled back.

His face showed surprise when Sh'en said he would meet his sister. "You mean the one who was at the hatching with us?" He asked.

crooned Kalteth, her mind voice laughter distilled. She nuzzled Syriacuth and nudged him, a little forcefully but playfully. she chattered.

Diedre had no idea what the dragons were up to. She watched them cavort, and the flitters also cavort, and didn't feel very cavortworthy herself. In fact, she was getting more nervous by the moment. She was a trader, with an attitude that could be described as hidebound, and she had not seen her brother since the day she had accused him of... well, it had been absurd. Plenty of manly men rode greens, after all, and he had been only 14, too young for such a thing to matter so much. He was turns older now, and maybe he had turned out straight after all. But what if he hadn't? What if he was some kind of fop? What if...
She scrunched down all the what ifs deep into herself and made a face. Whatever he had grown up to be, he was still her baby brother, was he not?

“Mmm...” Sh'en smiled, “You remembered. Yes, that same one.” he ran a hand along R'an's back, thinking of the lean muscles that lay beneath the artist's leather jacket.

Kalteth called, excited as the meeting spot came into view.

Sh'en let his other hand drift to R'an's chest. “I should warn you, she's, ah, very set in her ways. I doubt the past few turns have loosened her much. His expression, unguarded with R'an, spoke of mixed feelings about that. He didn't want his sister to have changed too much. At the same time, though, he wanted her to accept him for what he was, not for whatever she wished he was.

Syriacuth laughed deeply, 'You're not pretty.' He said as he nuzzled along her neck,[i] 'You're beautiful. Gold's can't even compare to you.' He flirted. His eyes glanced back to the human following them but he didn't think much of her. Just another human. He made sure she kept her distance from himself and that was enough.

R'an shivered alittle at the hand caressing his back, memories filling his head at how skilled those hands really were and how good they felt...

He shook himself of his memories and smiled back at Sh'en and tilted his head in question. "What do you mean set in her ways?" He asked in a slightly confused tone "Does she hate dragons or something?" He asked playfully.

We'll start rolling next post?

Kalteth giggled, prancing slightly, She was a Green, after all, smaller than the bulky Golds, and she was fast in the air.

“Oh no!” said Sh'en laughing. He hadn't missed the shiver, and would have liked nothing more than to make the older man shiver and quake a little more, but alas, that could not be done in front of his sister. Who was impending.

Ah well. The price that had to be paid for family. He hoped that cuddling time with R'an would be the only price. If so, it would be well worth it. If not...

“She has a high opinion of 'us dragonriders'.” he said it in an a self-desparaging way. He'd learned, from experience, that his fellow riders and their dragons, from green to bronze, were just people being people. There was no special honor, or glory, or super special responsibility that set them above the rest. They were people, all, doing a job. “Very into the whole protecting Pern thing... Just not so much....” he idly stroked up, along R'an's neck, before kissing him again. “This.”

A glimpse of her brother – a mere glimpse from behind the two dragon's bulk, enough to know it was him, and enough to see... another man? But not enough to see what was happening, and Diedre was too nervous to process the mere flash of an image more than that. He was right there. Oh shards... what would she say to him?

Kalteth called. Sh'en, gently, pushed himself away from R'an.

“You understand what I mean?” he asked, his grey eyes filled with a serious understanding and no small amount of heated passion.

Sure just gotta walk me through it

Syriacuth nuzzled Kalteth, 'Of course you could.' He commented before seeing R'an, he nudged the green again before walking around the humans and laying down, his tail wrapping around himself. R'an merely nodded to Syria, the big dragon was fine with his distance for now as he settled down to relax and watch the humans and his Kalteth. ((he's so possessive))

R'an didn't get it until Sh'en stepped away from him as his sister walked up. It suddenly clicked and he frowned deeply, the disappointment showing on his face. So because they were together she wouldn't like it? What was wrong with male relationships? Syria's head had been down on his paws but it raised at his rider's sudden flair of anger. 'Mine?'

R'an waved Syria back down, he put a smile on his face as Diedre walked up and told Syria he would explain later. Just as he would have a discussion with Sh'en later. R'an didn't like the idea of hiding this, especially from family. But now was not the time to start an argument.

He looked at Sh'en and nodded, showing he understood but that he wasn't happy with it. Though the heated passion in his boyfriend's eyes made him soften a bit, he was still annoyed with having to hide their relationship. They may be dragonriders and they may be together but it wasn't like the two were related. He sighed and kept a smile on his face as the woman walked towards them. Waiting for Sh'en to introduce them.

Threadfall Announcement
Threadfall is falling more frequently! How is this accomplished? With any RP post a character makes in or around Trine (or any Weyr), they may roll 1d100. If the results are 1-13 or 85-100 then Thread is falling at the time of the RP. This roll of the dice is completely optional but remember participation in a Threadfall event counts are EXP for upgrades and other features. The player who rolled the Threadfall event must then roll 5d100s. The result is the goal required to defeat the threadfall in standard Threadfall combat. Combat against the Thread must be conducted in the RP thread where the positive result was rolled. RP can resume after the Threadfall is defeated. Again, the dice roll is optional.

Sh'en hadn't been sure how his warning would go over, but he decided that it wasn't so bad. He stood back from R'an and turned to face his sister. His smile was genuine – though he hid his wariness.

“Diedre! It's so good to see you.”

Diedre swallowed back her nerves and strode forward with a stiffened back and a whole lot of pride. She couldn't let him see how nervous she was.

“Sh'en.” she said. Her mouth had tried to move on its own, to put in the missing sounds in his name. Shenja. He would always be Shenja to her. But it was rude to call a dragonrider by anything but his elided name, at least, that was what she had learned. So, sister or not, closest family member or not... “It's good to see you.”

Sh'en wouldn't have minded if he'd been called Shenja, to be honest. He was relieved: it was the same old Diedre, stiff and rigid and silly without intending it. His sister was still a constant. Which meant his relationship with R'an would definitely not go over well. “And you too!” Knowing she wouldn't take the initiative herself, he walked over and gave her a big, friendly hug, intentionally thumbing his nose at formality. “How are you?”

Diedre awkwardly accepted the hug. “I'm well.” she said stiffly.

“Good!” Sh'en said, smiling as he retreated gracefully back to R'an. “Didi, this is R'an, of blue Syriacuth, a friend of mine.” he introduced. “R'an, this is my sister, Diedre.”

Diedre held out her hand to shake, her eyes unreadable. If she suspected that they were more than friends, if the idea even crossed her mind, Sh'en couldn't tell. That worried him.

Kalteth mused to Syriacuth, she giggled, remembering. Goldriders could be so silly about how you interacted with them...

R'an stayed formal and polite, taking Diedre hand and shaking it firmly. "It's nice to meet you formally. I believe I saw you at the hatching of our dragons but didn't get a chance to speak to you." He gave her a smile and hoped that he didn't display anything that might show that they were involved. Though it was hard not to reach out to Sh'en when the boy mentioned they were friends. R'an wanted much more than that...

"What brings this visit?" He asked with a polite smile, unaware of the terror building in the sky above them.

Syriacuth shrugged his large, scarred shoulders. 'Yours is strange though, maybe he doesn't like his sibling? I don't like some of ours.' He shrugged again. 'Who knows though.'
