Christmas, and a little bit after, had been something of a genuine surprise for Claude. In the short time she'd been here, she never except to get as many presents as she did. While it was only a handful, it was still way more than she had even fathomed. She had recently discovered one of these (belated) Christmas gifts, and it was on her door.

That one got her for quite a few moments. She had stood there in the hall with a hand covering her mouth as she stared at that fine piece of work. Damn. That was good. Completely unexpected and good. One trip for a day off the island later, Claude was currently leaning against Jack's desk, with her arms crossed and in hand hand a small bag. She was waiting for him, and didn't doubt he'd show up.

Another day, another shift in the infirmary. He had to sneak in time to work on the antivirus problem now, and his sleep deprivation was starting to show in the lazy gait of his steps and the faint bags under his eyes. A particularly strong brew was in his mug as he made his way to his desk, and it took him a moment to understand that there was a human being occupying the immediate space next to it.

He blinked. "Sup. Am I interrupting you desecrating my desktop again? 'Cause I'll come back in ten or something if you need more time."

"Not at the moment. Your consideration for my defacing of your property is noted though." Claude replied, eyeing Jack when he approached, noting the delay it took for him to register her presence. She stood, unwound her arms and held out the small plastic bag she was holding to him. Inside the bag was a small collection of new sticky note pads.

Her lips quirked up a bit.

"Never pegged you for a romantic." She mused in regards to her door.

"Your considering for defacing the space by my desk is noted," he retorted back with a childish grin, the way someone said Your mom. He took a long draught of his coffee, sighed, and took the bag, squinting at its contents with obvious pleasure. Although the heel one was a curious choice...

"Nice." Jack swung the bag onto his desktop. "Where the hell'd you get romantic from? Nobody likes a boring story, and I clearly had to use all my new sticky notes or else it would be a disgrace."

Claude just smirked lightly in reply, and seemed pleased at his assessment of her return gift.

"It's obvious." She drawled. "The t-rex and the pterodactyl are lovers. They even had children. They rode off into the sunset together. On rockets." He was definitely a romantic. Claude pushed off his desk and stood, hooking her thumbs into her pockets.

"Also, spar me." Now.

"Way too early to be dealing with someone's psychological projecting bullcrap."

If he heard the implied immediacy of her request, it went ignored. Jack settled into his chair and continued to drink for a few seconds more, drawing out the moment until he turned his head to Claude at last and said airily, "Later, maybe, if you learn some manners."

"Who's projecting? You're see through." Claude replied, and stared at him as he got comfy in his chair. Damn him. A brow quirked as he said something about manners, and Claude stared at him for a bit longer.

The trainee then slid onto his desk and settled onto her side, stretching out the length of of the desk as she propped her head up with one hand. The other rested on her hip, something reminiscent of a 'French girl' pose. "Please, Jack." She deadpanned at him with her usual lidded gaze.

Also reminiscent of a cat who'd be a pain in the a** until the need was met.

He almost snorted coffee through his nose at the pose. Fumbling for his phone, he took a photo, pocketed it, and finished his coffee in several more gulps.

"Not so hard, is it," Jack said as he pulled a drawer open and pulled a tissue out from the box inside (next to hand sanitizer, wipes, ibuprofen, and a small roll of runic bandages) to wipe his mouth. The successful lob into the trash can had him lackadaisically raise his hands in silent cheer.

"I've got an idea. How about you turnover on your back, I borrow you as a pillow--you look soft enough with those well-placed curves--and we revisit this challenge in, say..." He checked his watch and squinted in disbelief. "...another hour?"

That picture may have equaled out that Santa one she had in her wallet. She was amused he thought it was picture worthy, and she continued to regard him with her lidded gaze. A brow quirked as she watched him go through a drawer before she let out a soft snort.

"Unless being your personal pillow is part of my promotion requirements..." Which it wasn't. The trainee slid back up into a sitting position, and let her legs dangle off the side of the desk. "No."

"Then you can scoot your pirate booty for an hour," Jack replied. "I'm neither alert enough nor patient enough to deal with anyone, let alone have the wits to fight. Sixty minutes, and I'll see you on the training field."

With that, he started to pull out several folders and continue his business as though Claude weren't there, yawning.

"An hour." Claude reaffirmed. "Or I'm bringing the spar here." She smirked a bit at that, and pushed off of his desk. She'd kill time firing at dummies on the training field until then, and she did.

After an hour, Claude stood waiting with her pistol summoned at the field. Waiting for one green giant and ready to go.

Almost exactly an hour later, as promised, the towering Lifer approached the fields. While he still had a gaunt look about him, Jack's eyes were bright at the prospect of some exercise. A break from research was well warranted.

He noted her pistol as he walked; probably would pull similar tactics to Lex...

"As promised," he greeted with a faint smile once they were closer to conversational distance, though rather than raise his hand to wave her down, his sword materialized with a clink of metal chains. "Hope you haven't been too bored waiting."

Closing the gap in the beginning was crucial given their weapon types, so without further preamble Jack lunged and slashed at Claude's midsection.

"Knew you'd keep your word." Claude replied simply, and got ready, holding her pistol out. Then Jack summoned his weapon, and Claude knew she was in for one hell of a spar. Of course Jack had a large weapon. Of course. She honestly shouldn't have expected anything else.

Of course he knew how to use it too. Claude was swept back from the hit, her boots skidding along the ground before she caught herself and moved, circling around him. She arched out wide, to keep distance between them, and fired her pistol at him.

"What sort of man would I be if I didn't?"

It felt good to stretch his legs like this—not just jogging the circuit but following a target. Bullets struck his shield as he gave chase, which made his smile brighter.

"Anything interesting to report since last time?" Jack asked as he closed the distance just enough to reach her.
