The early-morning sunlight revealed the dew-laden scenery of the forest, where the solitude beneath the overhead canopies was made that much more evident. It also made it that much easier to break, for the quick-paced skittering of a slightly-neurotic helioptile, whose steps were otherwise overpowered by other fauna in the area, scratched at the silence of the air like etchings on a chalkboard.

Frilled ears folded and puppy-like, Cardice ducked under a large oak leaf, only managing to protect the top of his head from being easily spotted -- his bright, lemony-colored body, on the other hand, was an entirely different story on the ground floor. Not that he could really sit very still. He popped himself upright again, the leaf on his head toppling to land gracefully back on the grass as the lizard took a quick surveillance of the area and dashed off again, headed for the bushes.

...And then getting subsequently tangled in the branches. His vocal huff came slightly pouty as he wiggled his body back to the ground from the criss-crossing, ensnaring twigs, intent on leaving this grabby bush as soon as possible. He just needed a goal to dash off to. Peering from between the foliage, the young helioptile attempted to get a visual on anything that was even the slightest bit out-of-the-ordinary. There had to be something interesting out here! Even if it was just another wildflower sprouting at a distance from its brethren.

Cardice snuffled around the area, keeping some distance between himself and the leering of the bushes that dotted the landscape. Grumpily, he rubbed a shoulder slightly with a softly-taloned hand, where a darkened mark had appeared. True, it didn't break the skin any, but those bushes were refusing to play nice! They were threatening with bodily harm today, so it was all the same he just keep his distance, at least until after lunchtime.

Dashing toward the base of a tree, the small helioptile poked his nose at a small white wildflower at the base, realizing it was but an early-bloomer to a patch of sprouts in that same location. On a glance back up, he took to the tree's bark, climbing a couple inches up to pause and surveil the surrounding area. It was then that he caught sight of a glimmer through some of the lower-hanging foliage, an oddity enough to immediately distract the reptile in favor of finding whatever-it-was and similarly snapping it up. It was about time he found some actual, real treasure!

There was very little time Cardice took between getting a complete visual on his target and snatching it right up. That is, he took no time in determining what exactly it was that was shining so much in the sun, let alone whether it was something living or not. It was some sort of metal, of course he didn't think that a key ring would have been another pokémon! Probably only due to the fact that he had never heard of a klefki before...

He bounced happily, the long, ring-like limb to one of the sides of the klefki's main body latched onto by the helioptile's mouth. This was perhaps the largest piece of treasure he'd yet found thus far! Oh he was so proud!
