Cupcake had been at the bakery for several hours at this point, and his mind wasn't on the job. More than once he'd caught himself before dropping something, over cooking something, that sort of thing.
He was realizing the one downside to having his own business was doing things that weren't work related when you more or less had to be at work. Today, he was wanting to be home taking care of his wife who hadn't been feeling so good the last few weeks, throwing up and all leaving him to wonder if she had come down with a flu bug or something.
Looking at the clock again, he knew he had some time before Cotton would make it to the shop to let him know what she'd found out at the doctors and so he sighed and went back to frosting some cupcakes carefully, glad his two employees were working vigilantly.

Cotton had just left her doctor's and, despite the good news she'd received, she was still feeling queasy. But she promised that she'd let Cupcake know as soon as she was out what was going on, so she was heading towards his shop now. It was a little cold out, which seemed to help her nausea calm down as she headed that way. She was thankful for the brisk weather as she nearly ran to the bakery.
She chattered incoherently as she hurried down the street, only slowing when she got to the bakery door. "Oh, Cupcake? Cupcake, dear!" She sang as she swung the door open. She was her chipper self until all the delicious smells hit her. It was a punch to the stomach. Her nausea returned and she excused herself to the employee restroom in the back, locking the door behind her. Is this how it was going to be the whole time? She sure hoped not!

The store had already gone through it's morning rush of people coming in for donuts and bagels and such and Cupcake was in the process oh replacing a tray with fresh glazed donuts when he heard the bell to the bakery tinkle and he looked up with a smile. One of his workers, Sunil took the tray from him and he came out from behind the counter then, and to Cotton's side. "I'm right here sweet.....heart...." He frowned as she went running for the bathroom at the back and followed her waiting outside the door, hand on the door. "Cotton, you alright sweetheart?" Cupcake didn't try the door, letting her have her privacy but he was worried about her. He hoped she was doing okay and that the doctor had some news about what was wrong with her.

Cotton whimpered quietly as she cleaned herself up and unlocked the door, opening it to her husband. She smiled weakly, still a little sickly and pale. She was glad he was the only back here, she was sure she looked like a mess. She was also happy that only the workers, who wouldn't judge, had been in the bakery at the time of her race to the back.
She reached out, fumbling for his face as she wasn't making her normal noises to see. After a tentative few seconds she cupped his face in her hands and brought their faces close to one another until their foreheads were touching. She was beaming, but tears were rolling down her cheeks.
"Oh, love, you're going to be a father," her words were just above a whisper as she tried to force them out without squealing, her voice cracking a bit regardless.

His ears were twitching nervously as he heard whimpers through the door, and he was ready to break it down...or more accurately grab the key that unlocked it from this side in case one of them locked it on the way out when it finally swung open.
Taking one look at her, at how pale and sick she still looked, at the tears streaming down her cheeks he began to worry even more. What had she found out? His mind went a million directions even as he stepped closer to her.
Her words though, they took a few moments to clearly register, and he stopped breathing for a split second as he stared at her in awe. "A father....I'm going to be...you're...you mean you're pregnant? That's why you're so sick?"
He was floored really! Still his arms circled around her and he pulled her close laughing. "Oh this is wonderful news sweetheart!" his own eyes were wet as he held his wife close, just grinning at her.
Suddenly he was laughing hard. "Shall we let Tulip plan the baby shower dear? Make it up to her for eloping?"

"Mmm-hmmm," was all she managed in response to his questions, nodding, the tears not stopping. She was just so happy and his happiness at the news just amplified the emotion. And the love she felt for him increased as well, if that were possible.
She choked out a laugh as he suggested Tulip planning the baby shower. "Oh, I suppose we should. I'm sure it will make her forget all about us ruining that for her." Cotton managed to chuckle and began wiping the tears away with the back of her hand.
"Oh, I feel so silly. You'd think with me being part Psychic-type, I would've known!" she was joking, obviously. The thought of being pregnant hadn't even crossed her mind this entire time. Though, looking back at the last several weeks, it seemed pretty obvious. She'd had a few cravings for things other than sweets (her normal cravings), the morning sickness of course, and a certain monthly visitor was late. She felt so blind, no pun intended, but nonetheless happy.

He kept his arms around her, just lost for words still at the prospect of being a father, he hadn't thought it would happen so soon but honestly the timing felt perfect to him.
A hand rested lightly on Cotton's stomach and he was smiling and laughing again. "I think she'll do good. We'll have to go set up a baby registry somewhere so she has that information. I bet she'll throw you an elaborate shower." which would be beneficial he knew!
"Come on, lets get you sitting down. Do you want anything from the display case?" on his way out front he paused and spoke to his two employees with a proud smile.
"Anyone that comes in and orders a Cotton Candy Cupcake, gets it on the house. I'm going to be a father!" why yes, the cupcake creation named for his wife was to be a gift from him to customers. It was a popular treat as well so he was sure the free treat would entice customers to want to buy something else as well.

"Oh, I'm sure you're right! Tulip doesn't do subtle." She chuckled. She loved her friend dearly, but Tulip was all about big things; big occasions, big celebrations, etc. The modeling life really fit the Venusaur well. Cotton pondered for a short second if she would still be able to model after they found out she was pregnant. The thought was quickly excused, however; she'd worry about it later.
The news and getting it all off her chest coupled with it being later in the day caused her stomach to ease. She barely felt a twinge, and if it was anything, it'd be hunger at this point. Cupcake mentioning food made her mouth water and her stomach growl. "Oh, I guess someone's hungry already!" She giggled and followed him out to the front, smiling from ear to ear all the way. Her hands rested on her stomach instinctively, even though there wasn't even a bump yet.
"Oh, I'll just take a little croissant. I don't want to eating anything too heavy just yet." She took a seat at one of the back tables. As she did, her feet made her acutely aware just how long she'd actually been standing and running around today. And she wasn't in her best shoes, something she silently scolded herself for.
A light pink blush graced her cheeks as Cupcake announced the offer. He was caring and generous. She was so elated that he was her husband and the father of their child.

"No, no she doesn't but I'm betting she'll ensure it's the best baby shower and everyone enjoys themselves and you're spoiled rotten like you ought to be."
Cupcake gave a soft chuckle at her saying someone was hungry, eyes bright as could be. "One croissant coming up for you." he pressed a kiss to the top of her head as he moved back behind the case and pulled one out with his little tongs and set it onto a small plate which he put into his microwave for just a moment so it'd be lightly warmed. A teeny bit of butter was set on top and allowed to melt over top.
He got some water in a cup for her and brought them to the table then along with a napkin and sat down across from her. "Your croissant, lightly warmed and buttered and some water. Hopefully that's mild enough for you."
As he sat there he couldn't help but stare at his wife with wide, adoring eyes thinking himself the luckiest Eevee in the world at this point.

Cotton hummed to herself and she "watched" her husband fix up the croissant for her. She couldn't be happier. She was with the best man in the entire world and they were going to be parents! The thoughts of the sickness earlier had completely left her mind. All she could think about was how happy and truly blessed she was. She'd tell Tulip when they got home. For the time, she was content with this peaceful scene.
"Oh, thank you, sweetie!" She squeaked as he brought her the food and water. She nibbled on the bread lightly, oblivious to Cupcake's staring as she did so. She'd periodically take sips of her water, either fumbling for the glass, or making little noises so she could "see" it.
When she finished, she dabbed her mouth with the napkin and wiped her hands off. "Oh, you know we're going to have to think of names." She was back to chipper self. "And the spare room upstairs can be the nursery!" And beamed at her husband, excited for the future.

He couldn't help a chuckle at her reaction and settled contently in his own chair watching her with a tender expression. "You're welcome sweetheart." He was glad for the lull in the bakery just then so he could spend this time with his wife. "Well you start thinking on that, and I'll think on it and we'll put our heads together and come up with more and then start narrowing things down. Though I think Christmas could be a cute name...given the time of year that the baby was conceived and all." a grin on his face as he spoke. "I can start working on the nursery in the evenings, and I'll even take a couple days off to work on it so it'll be ready to go. Painting first, so it has time to dry and a smell to air out." he was glad to see her back to her old self!

Cotton giggled and blushed, waiving her hand and attempting to tell Cupcake to hush about the conception thing. It wasn't something she thought was a public topic, but she couldn't keep herself from acting like a giddy schoolgirl. It was cute, really, the way her cheeks flushed, adding more color to her already vibrant exterior. Not that her personality didn't match her colorfulness.
After her giggling had subsided, she thought of names as well. She liked the idea of Christmas-themed names, she thought it was cute. "Oh, I do like Christmas! I think that would make a lovely boy's name. What do you think of Noel for a girl, maybe?" She smiled warmly; just thinking about the life growing inside her made her feel all fuzzy inside.
"Oh, I will have to insist you get some help with the nursery. If nothing else, ask Tillie, she's good with that sort of thing." When they got home later, a call would be made to her and Tulip, though she was sure Tulip would do most of the talking.

Cupcake grinned at the slight scolding from his wife, a low chuckle coming from him to indicate his amusement at her giggling and blushing. He was glad to see more life and color coming from her than had been recently. The excitement had definitely taken away any worry of something being wrong. For both of them! "I think that'd be a nice name as well. So long as we don't give Christmas the middle name Carol or something." another teasing note to his words. Of course he wouldn't do that to a son of theirs. "I'm okay with Tillie helping if you think she'd want to. I'm sure you can ask her if she'd be willing to help with decorating once you call them later to give the news." he wasn't a psychic type, but he did know of the close bond shared between the three.
