It's not the official name, but it's a temporary placement name for the next upcoming Fire Emblem game. You can check the video below: Fire Emblem Teaser TrailerLet me just say watching that trailer just makes my body so ready for it. So let's talk about it. > Are you excited for the upcoming Fire Emblem game? > What do you think of the graphic as well as the classes, armors, and weapons? > What game mechanisms do you hope the developers will put into the game?

I have to say I'm very impressed with some of the cutscenes as well as how some of the references are related to certain historic types. For example, that dancer in the beginning has the same movements as how a gypsy danced. And that giant wooden golem may be related to the Norse mythology.
Another thing that intrigues me are the weapons as well as the armor. It looks like we have much Eastern influence than what the previous Fire Emblem game does. Sure we have katanas and nagitanas in the game before. But if you look closely to the mage battle cutscenes, you'll notice that they are carrying fans instead of tomes.
Also (and I'm pretty sure Ninian will laugh her butt off for this), that girl that fell in the water. It could be a hint that she may be an Ice dragon. Sure, she doesn't have red eyes like Ninian and Nils, but she does have the same hair color as them. In addition, not all color appearance can be pass down from generation. Heck, she may be a descendant of Ninian and Nils. But this is just a random fan theory so discard it. I just too hype up about it. ;3;
EDIT: Looking at the gifs in Ninian's tumblr, I realize that the dancer and the girl falling into the water are both the same person... OTL

I'm pretty sure this new game is like Sacred Stones in that it's not connected to any of the other games, but we'll see.
Blue-haired dancer who is important to the story? It does look like Ninian 2.0. XD I wonder if this means we'll get a dancer Lord? Otherwise, I wonder who the main Lord (or Lords, you never know) could be.
There's so much detail and everything looks so beautiful. If the battle sequence that turns into the painting is anything to go by, this world probably has a long (and violent) history that will most likely have something to do with the present. I also wonder who those two men are towards the end who are fighting each other, as well as whatever is grabbing the neck of the dancer girl and pushing her down (her clothes are also mostly white there instead of dark blue, so I wonder what the reason for the color change is).
There's too much we don't know right now, but just from the trailer, I'm so excited for this! Also, the trailer music was absolutely GORGEOUS, so I hope that means good things for the game's soundtrack, too! =D

Thanks for bringing this thread up Isa. To be honest, I just barely caught it not too long ago and it kind of a surprised to me. I really liked the opening to it with the dancer and just wow... That Giant Golem in that battle what the heck was that? I'm really curious how this is going to be like. And yeah, I do agree that It does have an eastern feel to it from first impressions. The weapons and armors have very interesting designs. The graphics looks pretty nice on the 3ds I have to say. I guess they have the same artist from Awakening so in a sense maybe it might be aimed for fans that enjoyed awakening? But maybe it could be its own thing too. We'll just have to see. There's sooo many questions blowing through my mind.
As for game mechanisms, I have a few ideas that I'd love to see personally.
I'm hoping for more long range weapon variety. Last time we only had one Long range magic tome and that was mire.
I really want to see Fog of War make a return and more map variety. Instead of just defeat the commander or rout the enemies. I'd like to see other map objectives. Like protect the throne, NPC missions, clear the chapter in that many turns.
Oh different weather maps would be pretty interesting.
I very much enjoyed the trailer and I can't wait when it actually comes out.

Okay, it took me forever to get a shot of the image, but I managed to get it. Anyway, here's a glimpse of what may seem to be an antagonist for the new Fire Emblem: Remember, I'm not saying it's official. I said it MAY SEEM like an antagonist (Seriously, that beard screams out evil to me. >.>; ), but there's a possibility that this guy can be a NPC for the protagonist. ... I still think he's a bad guy. Curious what scene he's from. He's was in the cutscene that was moving too quickly between the painting of the war and the dancer. Also, that fan I've mentioned earlier. Well, while going slow-motion on the video again, I saw that it's not a fan but ofudas (Eastern priest's talismans) during the magic battle. Which to be honest, makes sense about using ofudas since it's much easier to carry than tomes.

The much stronger Eastern influence in the art direction is lovely.
Obviously excited.

Hm, He definitely has the makings of a villain Isa. If not maybe a mini boss of the game. Or an NPC, like a ruler of a kingdom...Or heck probably an important nobility figure. . His mug is interesting though that much I'll say.
Though, I do wonder out of curiosity why the title Fire Emblem IF? Is it because of What if it will happen scenario has occurred within the plot? Or maybe it doesn't have any meaning of relevance...
I think it's best to wait and find out when it comes out.

I don't think he'll be one of the mini-bosses. Either an NPC or one of the important bosses like Zephiel or Gangrel, but not a mini-bosses. Otherwise, he would not be in the cutscene if he's one of the mini-bosses. As for the If title, it's kinda like you say. It's kinda of a "What If" scenario to the game. However, to me, it feels more like a placement holder to the name until Intelligent System found the official name to put.

I was actually thinking more along the lines of Pablo from FE8 or maybe Oilver from FE9 One of those important memorable bosses that still have connection with the story in some way. But yeah, An actual game villain or NPC seems more like the case here. And you're probably right Izzy. They might not have an official title name at the moment so the "IF" part could be in there for now until they change it. Then again, they did only show a trailer teaser so it's better not to jump to conclusions right now.

We got another trailer of Fire Emblem: If. This time, we get a little more info from what's in the storyplot. Fire Emblem If: Choose Your Own PathSo the Avatar that we got a glimpse from the previous trailer will have a more role-plot in the game, meaning that the Avatar will be the main character of the story. In addition, based by the information from this article, it seems that this game will be similar to Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire. This means we get to see two different perspectives of two games, depending which side we will choose. Even though there's going to be four versions in Japan, I have a feeling we may get two versions once it comes to the US. I doubt about the third version, but we'll see. Don't worry, you can get the other campaign by downloading the DLC. Anyway, this will be interesting to see how it goes. I will admit that this may also raise a debate about which "family" you will side: the one that raise you since you were young (it's hard to tell if the Nohr raise the child since baby or toddler) or the one that gave you birth. Normally people will go for the one that raise the child since they're the one who raise the child and care, whereas the biological family wasn't there to see how the child grows. However, I'm going to hold my decision in neutral since we don't have enough information as to how the child ended up in the Nohr family. According to the user from Serenes Forest, the user believe that Garon (the old man we saw from the previous trailer) took the Avatar who was either a toddler or baby after killing the Hoshidan soldier based by the trailer. While this may be a theory, we still don't know if that's true or not. Another theory of how the Avatar ended up in the Nohr family is what I know from the ancient Asian culture. Kinda similar to political/arrange marriage, the family gave their child to another family as a sign of truce or peace treaty. That would make sense since the Hoshido is a peace loving people. Not to mention, it also explained how the Hoshido have the sword when the Hoshidan soldier was executed by Garon that the user from Serenes Forest was unable to explain. Now I know what you're thinking. If they give the child as a peace treaty, why is there war between them? Well, the answer is simple: do you really think two political families will forever stay in peace? =P There was wars where two families did fight after making peace treaties. So it doesn't surprise me if Intelligent System use this route. So... Which "family" will you side?

If this game is its own 'world', it will be unique in that the same artist from the last game is doing the art, without the game being any kind of sequel to it. Pre-FE6 games are weird with their art sometimes but I believe Jugdral has the same artist, Elibe games have same artist, Tellius games have same artist. The only time they've changed artists for a sequel is for 12, which was correcting a huge mistake. But they've never kept the same artist to do a separate 'world's' art. I see why they would do that, though; Awakening made the game mainstream, and people know that art style. Still, unique.
Also, that blonde horseman is totally a callback to Eltshan, the way that dancer is a callback to Ninian. He even has a demonic sword.
The family I choose will be whichever ******** little sister says onii-chan the least... (notice both main dudes on each side have a little sister... ...couldn't change it up, could we? The Hoshido little red-head sister is totally a Maria callback.)

While I'm totally down for sexy fire emblem ladies, part of me is really irking about her armor and how it just stops at her chest, becomes cloth to cover the tits, and just totally leaves her whole chest unprotected. Like.. why even bother.
