Whether it was curiosity or necessity, Rastian found himself back at the creature crates from a few days prior. The sound that thing had made had stuck with him and made him only the more eager to understand what this new thing was, it was almost childlike that he wanted to do this. He moved slowly and avoided the crates as to not startle the creature off, if it was there to begin with, and shook a small bag of food he'd brought from the house. He didn't know what this thing like to eat, let alone what it was, but he knew that if his familiars came to the sound of a food filled bag then this thing had to at least recognize the sound as well. After all, this might have been someone's pet to begin with, they had to have at least some idea what the sound of a treat bag was like.
Sure enough, a tiny pair of ears popped out from beneath the foliage up ahead and poked forward, before the wrinkled body of the animal came out into the open. It was kind of cute, he'd have to admit, from this distance at least. It padded closer and closer, seeming to understand that it was being given food and nudged at Rastian's hands. The little hairs upon it's cheeks tickled him a little, making him chuckle as he opened the bag and poured some of the treats he'd brought into the palm of his hand. He held his open palm out to the creature, which eagerly began to eat as if it hadn't seen food in days, and began making that odd sound again. What was it doing? Where was that sound coming from? He reached over and placed his free hand on it's back to feel where the sound was coming from. It was a vibration, not unlike the feeling a bee would make as it whizzed past your ear. He smiled, it was a comforting noise. He almost wanted to scoop the animal up and put it close to his chest so he could feel it that way. But, as he reached to do just that, the animal made a squeaking sound and scampered back towards the trees again.
"Wait! Come here little guy!" He called, shaking the bag of treats again. "Don't run away, I've got more treats here! It's okay!"
But it was too late, the strange creature had vanished into the trees again, leaving him with a half-empty bag of treats and a bit of a sad face. Poor thing was so hungry, though. Maybe he ought to leave the bag here for it to snack on later? He bent down and placed the bag next to the tree it had scurried up to and eventually made his way back home himself. He'd try again another day.
