Kara's tail flicked as she basked in a sunbeam. The ground was cold beneath her, the grass cool with melting frost, but it was the sun she was after - and in the middle of winter, sun was hard to find. She savored it while she had it, letting it run warm fingers down her ribs. There was not much better than the sun, save the moonlight, but even moonlight could not offer warmth. Lying there on the ground, she stretched her muscles, only slightly aware that she was incredibly visible against the gray ground; her orange and deep purples were brilliant in the sunlight, hard to even look at. Her eyes were closed, though, so if anyone happened upon her, she would hear them before she saw them - and they would certainly see her before they heard her, considering that the only noise she made was her breathing.

The suns rays were a rare thing in the winter. The winter was a hard cruel time of year when only the best seemed to survive. He was gazing at the sun not directly of course but in a way that made him feel warm. He was not seeking much in life his purpose had been destroyed and it left him a shell of his former self. Most let him be and that never had bothered him but he always had a nagging feeling he was missing something. He was missing a heart and had been for some time but he had not since longed for another. The only thing love could bring was pain and despair and he was not eager to relive those emotions. He did not need friends or family to survive he had no idea why he was even still living but he pushed on. Returning from his thoughts his gaze caught something bright ahead of him. The sun was reflecting off something or someone and he carefully made his way over to see what was there.

Soft hoofbeats echoed through the ground to Kara's ears, and at the sound of them, she lifted her head. A black and bright stallion was approaching, a unicorn stallion - when was the last time she had seen one of those? It had certainly been a while.
Sitting up a bit farther, Kararti nodded to him. "Hello there, stranger," she said, though something about him made her keep her voice down; something about him demanded quiet, but she wasn't sure what exactly it was. "The sun is warm today," she said, hoping it would be a good enough explanation for her not getting up to greet him. She had finally found the perfect spot in the little clearing, where the ground was not shaded by trees or anything else.

His gaze slowly shifted to fully take in the from ahead. It was a mare basking in the sun. She was an odd one though brightly colored unable to hide from anything in the open. He himself was not so good at hiding but it was something you just got used to. He kept his distance from those he met but this mare somehow felt inviting and he listened to her words.
"Keep your greetings short." He eyed her again wondering how those colors came to be. He finally noticed she was another uni at least in appearance. He did not bother to mention that though. "Days like this are hard to come by. I can see why your enjoying it" He started to walking away from her not bothering if she did respond. She would probably just give up his way of speaking did not give a very warm and friendly vibe. He did not want others to become attached to him or worse get attached to someone himself.

Kara's eyebrows raised even higher as he told her to keep her greetings short. Something in her tilted its head defiantly to the side and demanded not to be told what to do, but she tamped it down. "The question is, friend, why are you not enjoying it, yourself?" she said, tail batting the ground in a beckoning gesture. "Are you in such a hurry to be somewhere that a little time in the sun in the perfect spot it so unappealing?" And where are you going, anyway? she thought to herself, studying him. He seemed in such a hurry to be alone again and out of her company, though. Was there really something out there that was so pressing?

He was still walking away but he could hear her talking. Her words caught her off guard and he started thinking to himself why was he not enjoying the day? He really did not know the answer to that question. He stopped for a moment to think about his situation. He really did not feel like talking to the mare but what else was there for him to do? He sighed to himself and tried to figure out what to say in reply.
"What is there to enjoy? Everyday seems to look the same" he turns around and eyes the mare from where he is standing "There is no hurry to be anywhere i just would rather not get attached to anyone" he would rather not have friends or anything of the sort. "I am used to being alone and that is how i want things to stay" he starts walking again slower though wondering if he should try talking to the mare more.

Frowning, Kara twitched her tail a little irritably. Perhaps it wasn't that there wasn't something pressing - perhaps it was her company he did not want; that was what she gathered from his sigh. His words only supported her conclusion, but she could feel herself digging in. "Every day has not been the same for some time," she said, eyebrows furrowed. "Isn't it rare for the sun to come out so long in winter? Maybe I've just been in the forest for too long..." She had been lost, after all, wandering and trying to find her way back home since she had left nigh on a year ago. "Besides," she added, "sitting in the sun and soaking up its warmth doesn't mean getting attached to whoever ends up sitting beside you. I don't think that is in the rules of sunbathing. In fact, it might be odd if you did." Shrugging her shoulders a little, Kara patted the ground with her tail again, though her eyes were drawn to the way his coat shined in the sun. If he did sit down beside her, at least he wouldn't be hard to look at.

He could hear the mare was still talking and he slowed down again glancing behind him. She was annoying him but he was unsure about what the right thing to do would be . He was growing bored of the conversation she was not saying anything he did not know. "It might be rare for the sun to come out but it's not surprising" he looks over at her before going on.
"The sun might feel nice in the winter but it's always the same sun" he starts to get up again eager to be on his way. There was no time for daydreaming when the world was so unpredictable. Time stopped for no one not even him no matter how hard he wished it would.

How negative, she thought, brows furrowing. It was surprising for the sun to come out in winter! Everything was always cloudy and cold and no fun... But that didn't matter. "It might be the same sun, but that's like saying you won't bother with eating sweet berries because they're always the same sweet berries and they come out every year," she said, voice rising in debate. "Or that you won't enjoy the feel of scratching an itch because you get them all the time. Is that true? Are things that feel good not worth bothering over? That seems like a rather miserable existence to me..." Trailing off, Kara tapped the ground with her tail again. "Come sit in the sun. You might not see it again for weeks, wherever you're going."
