Though Brenny was not particularly fond of winter weather, it seemed to him that he was often out in it. He had been led to the nearby park by his older brother, Eliot, who'd taken off soon afterward, saying he had 'business' to attend to. The celebi wasn't sure what this business was, but it didn't seem to trouble him. The park was a lovely place, even in winter. With snow covering the grass and the trees, it made it look like someone had covered everything in vanilla frosting. Or like someone had powdered everything with enormous amounts of powdered sugar.
Whatever it looked like, Brenny thought it was a pity that snow didn't taste as good as it looked like it should. He wandered past the swings, glancing towards the slide. It was probably not a good idea to be going down it today. He'd get wet, and then he'd get colder sooner...
He spotted someone. A smile made it's way across his face, and he hurried over. "Hi, I'm Brenny, and I'm a legendary!"

Bundled up in a heavy down coat, mittens, snow pants, boots, and a knit hat, Josie could finally enjoy the snowy day. Since most of her pokemon didn't like the cold, despite the fact that most of them were furry, she took her newest addition out to play. She was throwing snowballs for Cephas to catch when someone suddenly started talking at her side.
When she turned to look, she practically shrieked with delight. "You are so cute! Lookit those big blues!" Oh, a legendary? "You're... a celebi, right? Brenny? I'm Josie, and this is my cranidos, Cephas."
While he wasn't fond of the cold, Cephas was more than happy to go anywhere with his trainer. She was mama, after all! And, she let him wear his wings over his little coat.
He was getting really good at catching the snowballs in his mouth, growling with humor every time the balls burst into flakes of fluff. When the pokechild suddenly arrived though, he went right up to his owner's side, and looked up at Brenny curiously.

Brenny beamed. He did so like to be told he was cute. He immediately decided he liked the girl, and wrapped his arms around her. "That's right, I'm a celebi! Good work. I didn't even have to tell you. Most times I do, you know, but I don't really think I look like anything else..." He paused, flashing her another smile. "Nice to meet you, Josie! Nice to meet you, Cephas!" For the first time, he glanced over to the cranidos.
Well, hey! This pokemon looked like one of the ancient pokemon he'd seen with the scientist Grayson when they'd gone back in time, just like the tyrunt he'd met not so long ago. "You're a dinosaur!" he announced, moving to study the cranidos. "Awesome. I met a tyrunt before, we watched Land Before Time, and he was just like a sharptooth, only less scary! He was nice. You look nice too. Hey! Want to play with me?"

Josie gave a squeak of surprise when she was hugged, but quickly recovered. She laughed and hugged the boy back. "You look like a celebi to me!"
Looking down at Cephas, she grinned and reached down to pat his head. "Yup! And he's a good boy. <3 "
Flat red eyes gave a curious blink, and Cephas nodded. 'I'mma nice dinosaur! Mama says I'm called a rock type. What is a celebi?'

"I'm the best celebi around," Brenny promised, beaming up at Josie. He'd never met a trainer before, at least not one with pokemon who hadn't changed yet. He'd pictured them differently; someone who threw pokeballs at everything they met. He was glad he'd been wrong! "I can travel through time and everything!" He was fond of doing so; he'd even asked the scientists if he could work with them when he was older.
"You are! I like nice dinosaurs!" The celebi boy was delighted. He'd met two nice dinosaur types in a small amount of time. "I'm a grass type," he said. "I take care of the forest." He glanced back to Josie. "He says he's nice," he said, by way of translation.

"I bet you are!" Josie agreed with a giggle. "That's amazing!" Time travel... That concept was just too big for her. She liked the present, anyway. She turned to Cephas and knelt down to give her pokemon a hug. "That's because he is! My sweet little Cephas!"
Caphas gave the two his open smile. It was nice to see someone friendly, and to see mama so happy. 'Oh! Good. I like the forest.' When Josie came down to hug him, he gave a pleased growl and nuzzled his nose to her cheek.
Josie giggled again and straightened back up. "What brings you out here, Brenny?"

Josie was feeding Brenny's already overfed ego; the celebi beamed. Yes, he was amazing, wasn't he? "I can do other things too," he added. "Like bake! And I make good lemonade," he seemed to pause, considering his words. "I haven't anything to bake on, here," he complained. "Otherwise I'd make cookies! Maybe next time I see you."
She really loved Cephas, didn't she? That thought made him happy. "Me too," he said, "The forest is one of my favorite things."
He glanced at Josie as she straightened up. "Oh, Connie and I live not far from here," he explained, gesturing vaguely in the direction of their apartment. "The park's the best, huh? Even with all the snow!"

Josie smiled sweetly. Brenny was such an eager-to-please fellow! "Well, one day we'll definitely have to try your cookies."
Caphas gave a squeak of delight. 'Cookies! Mama makes cookies, too. I like cookies! I don't get them much though. Mama says the other food she gives me is better for me.'
Josie looked around and nodded. "It's always nice to visit the park."
Caphas cocked his head. 'Is Connie your mama? Can we see her when you make cookies?' he asked innocently, assuming that Brenny's Connie would be like his Josie.

"Yeah, one day!" Brenny agreed, beaming. One day soon, hopefully. "They're pretty good. I've shared them with a few people. Uncle Grayson told me I'm good at following recipes. He's the scientist I know. I took him back in time once, and we saw an archen nest, but it wasn't ready to hatch. I didn't want to overwhelm him by taking him to the time they would be ready, either."
Well there, there was something he had in common with Cephas. His guardian wouldn't let him have cookies that often, either; but really, he preferred berries to anything else. "Connie's like that too," he said, making a face. "I like other food, too though. I like salad and berries, and I really like vegetable egg rolls, you know, the ones with cabbage in them. Those are good!" He gave a nod to Josie's words; the park was one of the best places to visit. Anything could happen there, and it was a good place to make friends!
"No, he used to be my Daddy, though. Now he's my big brother. Er. That's confusing, isn't it? But I think you could see him, if you came on the weekend. He works during the week. I bet he'd like to meet you!"

Josie blinked slightly as she tried to keep up with Brennan's train of thought. What would it be like to go back in time...? That would be a question for another day!
"I like berries," she agreed. "I don't think I've had a vegetable egg roll before though."
Cephas gave a happy squeak. Would Connie really like to meet him? 'Okay! I'll bring mama again! We can meet Connie and have cookies!' he announced with delight.

Brenny would have gladly told Josie all about going back in time, at any other given point. He was much too excited, at that point, to have noticed Josie's confusion, or even realize that he might have wanted to slow the pace of the conversation. "Oh, you haven't?" He asked, but he wasn't really surprised. He was vegetarian, and he had discovered that not everyone was. "They're good on salads," he added, about berries. And in cookies, lemonade, there wasn't really a food he didn't think berries could make better.
"Yeah! And we can play, too! I bet you're good at chase. Want to play?" Talking was enjoyable, but it meant staying still! "Or we can build a snowman! I bet your Momma could help us make one that looks just like you!"

Josie nodded in agreement. Berries were good on many things! Her brow rose when the snowman offer came, but her expression quickly lit up with child-like delight. "We'll make Cephas a snow angel!"
Cephas danced in place excitedly. 'I like to chase!' He wanted to play! The idea of making a snow angel version of himself delighted him to no end though. He gave a delighted squeak, and charged on ahead into one of the nearby snowbanks head first.
