      Stage: Orakoir
      Creature: Giogimar
      Taming Attempts: 0 (need 80-100)

Relevant Bonuses: Khehora penalty negated (-0)
»»»Step 1: +30 for Khehora. You are not capturing one, you are trying to convince one to join you.
»»»Step 2: +10 for Khehora. You are not taming it, you are trying to convince it to stay with you for more than a night (aka keep it from leaving you for better patrons). Once "tamed," it will stay with you.. but still go and help other Khehoras, so it's not exclusive!
»»»Step 3: +10 for Khehora. You are training it, not to do tricks, but to do jobs for you. Teaching it what you need, or helping it to further it's own craft (many after all create things), and convincing it that you are indeed worthy of their respect and being attached to your lair.

Total: 50-100 needed for Step 1 (Capture)
70-100 needed for Step 2 (Taming)
70-100 needed for Step 3 (Training)

      Step 1 (Capture): Rolled 67 --> Success!

((Step 2 roll))

The feathers along Vazarri's neck bristled in irritation, annoyance, distress. As the daylight waned, she found herself becoming more and more frustrated that her brother could leave her side at a time like this. They were so close to setting off for Soudul, but somehow it seemed like a good idea for him to flutter off now. How long would he be gone? Days? A week? Longer? She hissed and tutted as her claws scrabbled at the sand along the bank, ruby gaze cast out toward the water. If she could fly, she could've at least joined him... Or maybe they would be in Soudul already, so she could search for Daddy while Keke lollygagged.

But no.

Her wings were still too small and underpowered, and so she was left alone with a dreadful sense of anticipation and no means of fulfilling it. She couldn't even rest comfortably in this unfamiliar territory, surrounded by questionably filthy two-leggers. She groaned aloud, a harsh, rumbling drawn-out noise that Zarri quickly smothered into her fore-claws. "Keke, why?"

"Little one?" Zarri squealed in alarm, lurching forward away from the scratchy sound of the voice right behind her. She swiveled in the sand, coming nose-to-nose with a four-legged, tiny-winged, gleam-eyed, speaking creature. It's head tipped in question. "Are you suffering some ailment? Perhaps a stomachache? Where is your mother?"

Zarri swallowed, her tail sweeping out to coil protectively around her. "My mother...?" She whispered, wings tipping in. The thing was just a touch smaller than her, but she'd never seen anything like it before. Keke would probably know what it was... Vazarri huffed. "I don't have one," She informed the creature curtly. "My brother and I are on a mission to find Daddy. But... He flew off, and left me alone. It's a little frustrating, but I can take care of myself."

The thing managed to look amused. "Perhaps," it agreed. "But there is no harm in a young khehora delegating a few tasks to others, hm? Have you food or a place to stay until your brother's return?"

"I..." Her tail flicked uncertainly as Zarri scuffed her claws in the sand. "Well, he won't be gone long. If I'm not where he left me, Keke may not find me again. I can't go on without him..."

"I see." The creature hummed softly, tiny wings fanning out. "Perhaps for one night, to get you out of the sand and maybe some food in your belly. A small khehora like you shouldn't be out alone. Still young, still much to learn, and still so much potential. Come child. Rest in my den for the night."

The creature led Vazarri back through the sands, toward a hilly outcropping of dunes. "I do not prefer to sleep on something so grainy and shifting," the creature admitted, "But it is a decent makeshift home for the time I spend waiting on ships. Please." It scurried inside. The opening was as small as the thing itself, and Zarri had to wriggle through reeds and sand to squeeze in after it. Fortunately the inside (though dark and rather muggy) was a bit larger, with enough room for Zarri to lay on the bed of leaves, reeds, and crumpled papers that the creature offered her.

It sat nearby and watched, wings flickering. "Have you done much traveling before?" It sounded genuinely interested, and Zarri wondered why this strange creature would try and care for her, anyway. Most animals ran when they saw a khehora, especially the ones that tasted delicious. But this one... invited her into its home...

Hesitantly, Vazarri admitted, "No, not that I'd remember, anyway. I've lived with Pappy in the mountains all my life. They're pretty dirty and rocky." She kneaded the leaves under her claws before lifting her gaze again. "And... I don't think I've seen anything like you before. Most of the creatures I live with don't talk. They aren't really helpful or nice to me at all."

"Your clan doesn't have any giogimar aids?" The Diabi girl wondered if she was imagining the hint of excitement and sudden curiosity, the way its wings lifted and ears perked.

Slowly, Zarri shook her head.

"Are there many khehora there? Well-versed in many crafts and full of knowledge, I'm sure? They must be the greatest of hunters to require no assistance from the giogimar." The scratchy sound of its voice rose with heightened emotion, excitement and eagerness.

The Diabi tipped her head. "I've never heard of them. My father has many creatures he cares for in his lair, and... gee-o-gee-mar is not one of them."

"You father... cares for creatures?"

"Like pets," Zarri agreed with a nod. "It's easier for him, I think, considering his weird two-legger body. A lot of the other adults aren't completely enthused by it, but..." She shrugged. "In any event, some day, I should like to have a two-legger body like Daddy and Pappy. I will be strong too, then everyone will want to be by my side..."

The giogimar scrutinized her, tipping its head before slinking silently to her flank. "I will stay by you tonight. Perhaps in the morning, after you've rested and eaten, you can point me toward your home clan. So when you return from your journey, maybe I will be there waiting for you, as well." When Zarri didn't scoot away or snap at her, the giogimar lay down, pressing fur to the Diabi girl's side.

"Only for the night," Vazarri agreed in a whisper with a nod. Because come morning, she'd be back to waiting. And come morning, the giogimar would set off in search of this mystical giogimar-less clan.
