Ren was bouncing (or rather, hovering) down the street with a bag in one hand and his skellyphone in the other, his curly hair pulled back into a ponytail and his suspenders around his hips (he'd forgotten to pull them up over his shoulders again, so they were dangling against the sides of his legs).
He crossed a lane, hopped over a crosswalk, and five minutes later was at his house.
Except not really, since he'd been looking down at his phone. When Ren looked up, it was to discover that he was, in fact, no where near his colorful little townhouse and on a different street entirely that was also entirely unfamiliar to him.
"Uh. Oops."

Sometimes Junko had days all to herself. And they were okay. She liked these days. They were quiet, peaceful, she was able to get a lot of work done. And she had! She had started a few new projects, finished some, made progress on others. It was a good day overall and so she felt she had earned herself a cup of tea. She sat out on the balcony sipping tea and scrolling through Grimterest on her phone. Focus on wedding planning, she'd promised. And she would keep that promise. Focus on the wedding. Every now and then Junko would glance down at the street below her to just admire everything. She really had gotten herself into a nice neighborhood. That would be important for their next house. Hm..house. Maybe she could just...take a quick peek at houses for a few minutes and-- Hey wait! She knew that guy! "Ren?" Junko called down, setting her tea cup on the table and standing to lean over the railing of her balcony.

Ren was still standing on the street, looking vaguely lost, when he heard a voice call to him from somewhere. He glanced around, looking left and then right, and when no one was visible down on the ground where he stood, tilted his head upwards and squinting up. There was a figure on one of the balconies, a very familiar figure with a lot of dark hair.
"Junko?" said Ren, and a smile broke across his face. His wings flapped once, heavily, and he flew upwards until he was level with her, Ren's ears flattening back against his hair as he beamed at the ghoul.
"It's been a while!" he said brightly. "Is this your house?"

The longer Ren took to realize she was above him the more Junko giggled. When finally he looked her way she waved, her other hand cupping her chin. "Hey!" She watched him fly up, standing straight when he reached her. Hey, if Ren was going to make the effort to fly to her she could at least stand straight for him instead of slouching like some kind of lazy bum. "It has! And kind of. Just an apartment, but Seiji and I are going to get a house after the wedding." She grinned and gestured to the tea on the table. "I was just having some tea, want to join me? We can catch up!"

Ren flipped his hair out of his face and one of his ears swiveled in Junko's direction.
"YOU'RE GETTING MARRIED?" he half yelled, sounding delighted at the very thought. Ren reached out and grasped one of Junko's hands, giving it a squeeze. "That's wonderful," I'm so Jacking happy for you! That's seriously so cool, I love to hear that people I know are getting happy!"
He released her hand and glanced sideways at the table before looking back at Junko, eyebrows raised.
"If you don't mind me interrupting, I'd love to join you," Ren said with a smile, flying a bit higher until he could land gracefully on the edge of the balcony.

Junko squealed, Ren's excitement over her own engagement turning out to be delightfully contagious. " YES!" She clapped her hands and then let Ren take one of them. She hopped from foot to foot with pure delight, grinning up at Ren the whole time. "Thank you! We have to wait until Seiji's graduated, but it's happening! And we're going to get a house, and we're going to have scarelings! Little itty bitty things that will walk and talk and call us mommy and daddy and," she squealed again. Oh dear, Ren had gotten her riled up. "Of course! You're not interrupting anything, I was just looking through Grimterest for wedding ideas." Junko stepped back to allow room for Ren to land on the balcony, humming and looking back at her kitchen and then to Ren again. "Would you like some tea? If not I have other things. Coffee, juice, stuff like that."

As it turned out, Ren was just as much of a fanghoulboil about weddings as Junko was. He made a happy sound and hopped up and down on the heels of his feet, his shiny black shoes making clicking noises on the balcony.
"Oh, that is wonderful," he said breathlessly. "I would love to have scarelings of my own someday, LW still hasn't graduated either, but hopefully soon we can have our own! I am so glad that you and Seiji are together and happy and having a beautiful life!"
He beamed at her and then wound his fingers together against the small of his back.
"I would love some coffee, if you don't mind," said Ren with a smile. "How have you been, other than the wedding preparations, if you don't mind me asking? It's been such a long time!"

Well, as long as Seiji didn't know about it, it didn't count. She just wouldn't tell him what she and Ren talked about if the topic of seeing Ren came up! So clever, that Junko. "I'm sure you and LW will have a wonderful wedding, and adorable scareli--" she gasped, "just imagine little wolves with spotted fur! How cute!" Junko squealed with delight and then began to look around in her cupboard. He was lucky she had coffee beans. She made quick work of grinding them, starting up the coffee pot for now and returning to Ren with a small plate of spookies. "I've been well! Settled in here for now, I went on a long, long trip to the human world to clear my head. That wad fun. And I've been working on establishing work for myself! It's been going well, I have a lot of clients, and I've only been improving more and more." Junko felt she was good, she was great, even amazing! But even someone at the top of the business always had room for some kind of improvement. "So things have been going very well for me. How about you?"

Ren's sound of delight was possibly too high for even dogs to hear. His eyes were positively sparkling as he said breathlessly, almost reverently, "Little wolves with spotted fur would be adorable, I can't even begin to describe how wonderful that would be."
Clearly Ren was exactly the right person for Junko to discuss such things with. He blinked at the ghoul and tilted his head, ears swiveling towards her curiously.
"What did you do in the human world?" he asked. "I've only been there a few times, and, er, none of them have really been that, uh, good. Or safe. Or Fun. Or anything, really, except totally crappy."
(He wasn't about to say that the last time he'd been in the human world, he'd been incredibly depressed and had gone on a hunting spree before having dragged himself back, bloodied and snarling, to Amityville. He'd cleaned up his act since then, thankfully, but still.)
"Things have been going awesome for me," said Ren happily. "I've got LW, I've got Jove - except!" he added suddenly, eyebrows drawing together in consternation as he looked sternly over at Junko. "Except I've heard rumors that Jove has...has a crush on someone."
He looked horrified at the very thought.

This was quite possibly the best turn of events she could have today. Ren passing by was the best. But his response to human world visits was curious. Good? Safe? Fun? What had happened? Junko's eyes widened, and she looked very ready to ask what he meant when Ren instead turned the subject back to happier things. She clapped her hands, looking more and more excited until suddenly Ren got serious. Whoa. Why was he seri-- oh my. Gasping, a hand flew to cover Junko's mouth as her jaw dropped. "No way! Tell me! Tell me all about it!" She squealed, wiggling in her seat.
