Again?! Did he have a big 'kick me' sign on his back? Was there a target painted onto his shirt? Was there an arrow over his head in neon lights that shouted 'pick on me!' to all around him?
Riley had come to town to look for a new place to train. ..he hadn't expected it to come in the dark alley. Some human teenager who knew little about pokemon had yanked the riolu from the sidewalk, held up a kitchen blade, and demanded money.
Staring at the knife, Riley's mind went blank as he stood there trembling. Oddly enough, rather than being afraid of the knife itself, he was more concerned about what his family would do if they found out he was being stolen from again! What would his boy say? Even with that dirty knife in his face, he was too afraid of his family to focus on getting anything out of his pockets...

Ylerian had made her way into town needing to replenish a few supplies she was having a hard time getting while traveling past towns. She was thankful most tended to ignore her, then again most didn't seem to want to do anything with a kimono wearing panda bunny wearing various weapons. Even local authorities seemed hesitant to deal with her as she walked. So it was without harassment of any sort she moved along the side walks. She'd taken in the sight of another like her. Another pokemon turned human, and had been attempting to close the gap between them out of curiosity more than anything when she'd seen him suddenly be dragged down an alley way. With a sigh she made her way to the mouth of the alley and saw the pair were a short ways down. Looking around the buildings nearest her she found a fire escape not far off and jumped up, pulling herself up carefully so as not to make noise, and crept along the length of it till she was more or less above the pair. Seeing it was a robbery gave her mixed emotions. She'd been on the giving end of one of these before, but it'd been a human she'd stolen from. Somehow though, seeing a human stealing from one like her boiled her blood a bit. Her pack was slid off her shoulders carefully and she checked her weapons satisfied the katana was secure on her back before she was vaulting over the edge of the railing and landing with a soft thud between Riolu and human, back to the poke-child as she raised her head to glare at the human. "Put your toy away before you get hurt." her words were a low hiss as she stood up pulling the weapon free and holding it loosely in her hand, looking relatively unconcerned for her own safety at this point. She wasn't concerned at all.

Getting impatient with the riolu, the teen raised his knife higher, and shouted again. So focused on getting the boy to do anything, the teen let out a yelp of surprise and jumped back a step when someone else jumped down from above. Oh, hell. It was just another kid!
It took a moment, but he finally registered the absurdly long blade in her hands. Concern flickered across his face, but he was too macho to back down just yet. "You should take your own advice, kid. That thing's nearly as tall as you are! Can you even swing it around?"
For his part, the sudden appearance made Riley shriek and press back more against the wall. Was it another person trying to take something from him?!
He gasped when he realized... someone was defending him! "B-be careful," he whispered with a stutter to the pokehuman before him. Another blink though, and he realized he could see their auras. The human was surrounded with colors of both selfish and nervous natures. The pokehuman though... the colors were cool and collected, and rimmed with anger. Maybe he should have told the human to be careful rather than this new arrival...

There was a pleased smirk hearing the human teen yelping in surprise as she landed between the two of them. Good. He's on his guard already. smart human. "You wish to see if I can swing thing yes?" Ylerian's voice was soft, a slight accent to it, which was to be expected given where she'd grown up where Japanese had been the primary language and the English had the same sort of accent she did. Her fingers curled around the hilt of her katana and it swing free of it's sheath catching some of the light filtering down between the buildings and glinting it back as she did swing it around with practiced ease. Her hears flicked towards the Riolu and without turning she smiled, eyes narrowing some at the teen. "I will be fine thank you. It is him who ought to be careful." she sank down into a slight crouch before she was springing forward towards the punk teen the blade held in such a way it wasn't pointing at him, but backwards in preparation for her very controlled swing meant to startle, not maim.

The teen's jaw went a little slack as we watched the katana swirl through the air as light and graceful as a feather. He knew what that was! He'd seen those Jackie Chan movies. That would slice him in half!
He yelped again, leaping back as the girl jumped toward him, and he skittered along the wall like a bug away from them. "Okay! Sorry! Don't kill me!"
Still pressed against his own wall, Riley's eyes widened as he watched the blade swing in its practiced dance. Wow... That was amazing! And the girl was still as cool as before.
He gawked as the teen suddenly backpedaled, more than eager to get away from the shimmering steel. Of course, that made him blush and look down at his feet. Yup. He was useless in a fight...

Ylerian didn't crack any sort of a smile at the teen skittering away from her, or his pleas not to kill her. The more he thought she meant bodily harm the better. "I suggest you stick to mugging someone other than kids. Pick on someone your own size." granted she went for bigger fish....but that was besides the point. Don't pick on a kid! Her words were hissed out between gritted teeth as her katana swung again, kept just far enough away not to cut the teen though the air rushing past him would be felt. "Get lost!" she pointed it at him then, uncaring he was towering over her. At the moment she felt ten feet tall and as if she were looking down on him. "And you." her free hand reached out a finger pointing at Riley. "You stay put. I wish to talk to you once I'm done with him."

"Come on! Not Like I was actually gonna hurt the kid! Really!" Whether this was true or not didn't matter. That shiny blade kept swinging closer, and he kept scurrying away. He certainly felt like he was looking up at a fighter rather than down at a kid in an alley.
"Okay! Okay! I'm gone!" Panting heavily with the unexpected turn of events, the teen spun and ran as fast as his legs would carry him. Dang kids these days were crazy!
His moment of relief as the teen began backing away was caught short by the other child's words. He looked up at the finger pointing at him, and his cheeks heated right up. What did she want? Was she going to call him a loser? Scold him for not defending himself? Take this chance to mug him herself?! Negative scenarios ran through his head like a film strip, still pressed tight against the wall so that his wobbly legs wouldn't drop him to the ground.

"Right, and I'm a Zygarde" She obviously didn't believe the teen and his claims of not being about to harm the boy! When the teen ran she waited a moment before the katana was returned to it's spot on her back and she held up a hand before she was jumping up... once again both thankful for -and cursing- the rabbit parts of her genetics. It did make it easy to jump high when needed! Once up where she'd left her back she pulled it back on and let herself back down before she went to the Riolu and appraised him a moment. "Are you alright?" her words were soft, and honestly concerned for his well being. She knew not everyone could defend themselves. Not everyone had the sort of training she'd had.

His eyes were locked on the girl. She was amazing, but good grief she was scary, too! He tried to vanish into the wall as the girl jumped high above his head. If he could just become part of the wall, then maybe she would forget about him!
Yet, he had no such power as blending into walls, and he stared with worried eyes as his rescuer returned. He ducked his head slightly, debating on if he could run and escape, but her surprisingly gentle tone made his ears twitch, and his gaze returned to her. She was completely different now... Warmer.
Brow knitting, he once again ducked his head, though, bashfully this time. "Physically, yeah," he murmured. Wait! Don't be rude! Stiffening, he faced the girl again and gave her a small bow. "Thank you for helping me!"

The bow was surprising really and she bowed in return and when she straightened she was smiling at him gently. "Physically is good. I know it can turn out badly when that sort of thing happens. How about other wise?" "You're very welcome for the help. It's not right for someone to rob a child." it wasn't! "Cities seem to be dangerous places, you should keep a sharp eye out or that could happen again." she was still being gentle as she cautioned him watching him a moment to gauge his reaction.

Otherwise? Riley's shoulders drooped. "Otherwise... I've been better." He scuffed a shoe against the pavement with frustration. He felt like a wuss, and he knew he was a wuss, but the hope that he might rise above being a wuss was still there; though, that hope deflated with each failure.
He could hear the kindness in her tone, but the words still struck. A child? She was one, too! She was clearly far more capable than he was though. He retreated a little into himself, gaze shifting away again. "I should probably just stay home from now on... Training isn't doing me any good." He grabbed his glowing tail in one hand for comfort, though it did little good in that sense. "You're really lucky, to be so good at defending yourself..."

She could sense he seemed unhappy about things, but wasn't sure if it was about being nearly mugged or rescued by a girl. Both could do it she was aware. It was apparently though that using the word 'child' had hit a nerve. She hadn't meant anything bad by it, just observing that the thugs choice of targets was pathetic. Stealing from kids! "Staying home only means they win. That you're giving in to any worries you may have. As for training...I have been doing so most of my life until recently. I am guessing you are new to training?" more training would make him better, of course. "What is your name?"

His ears twitched, Riley shrugged heavily. Why would anyone care if he hid at home? No one would notice anyway.
Her guess made him shuffle bashfully a little more, though he did perk up a little when she asked his name. Was she really that interested. "My name, um, is Riley. A-actually... I've been training since I was born, pretty much. I've just never liked it." He huffed sourly. "I've never been good at it, and I've never wanted it. The way my family trains makes me end up bleeding, and I have enough practice doing that without their help. I... I was out here to see if there might be a different way to train that I'd like better, but, I should just go home."

'It is nice to meet you Riley, I'm Ylerian." it was a first for giving her actual name, but she didn't see a reason not to at this point really. His words intrigued her and her and she set her pack aside, and pulled the sheath she carried off as well and laid it aside as well. "Then they are teaching you wrong if you are bleeding. Show me what they teach you...and I will see if there is a better way for you. I suspect the way they train you and the way I was trained are two different ways indeed." Oh sure she'd come away with bruises, and sore spots and such but she was sure the worst injury she'd ever faced even after her change was a sprained wrist. The Pangoro she'd always believed to be her father may not have liked her much once the truth came out, but he still hadn't caused her harm in training sessions. Cornetified Sorry about the delay. I hurt myself yesterday and was in too much pain and stuff to be able to think straight.

Finally, Riley's expression began to open up more warmly. "Ylerian," he repeated. "That's a nice name.."
The request for a demonstration made his eyes widen with concern again. "Oh, no, i-it's not that they're wrong or something. It's how they all train. Just.. I don't like fighting. I don't even like training to fight, and it shows. They're just being harder on me to try making me better. ..It's what they know." His feet shuffled again. "I don't like fighting, is all. They love it, and I don't. That's why I'm so bad at it." Lirilei Oh gracious, no worries! You just let yourself get better! Don't push yourself if you're injured!
