Evren was gently humming as she cleaned off the dishes and passed them along to her mother who then put the dishes into the dishwasher. It was all silent besides the water running as neither of them said anything until the Asian woman decided to speak up. “So how have you been feeling lately? I know you still have another doctor’s appointment coming up to make sure everything has healed up properly… but seeing as I am now your mother I don’t want you to feel you can’t tell me if you are in pain.” The woman had a poker face on but you could still feel the concern coming from her.
Evren looked over and smiled as she placed the dish back into the sink. “Well for a while I did feel a little nauseous after I got out of the hospital but now I don’t feel any pain so I had honestly forgotten about it…” Evren had a distant look on her face as their cat Reginald came over and decided to weave himself around Evren’s legs until she picked him up. “But I have found myself getting lost almost every time I step out of the house…” She hugged the cat to her chest and started petting him until he started purring which gave her a sense of comfort. “I mean one second I am heading to the store for something and the next I am in the park or ushered into some event.” Evren had a pretty serious face on as she turned back to her mother. “You don’t think it’s a side effect of my head injury do you?”
Yin shook her head at her daughter. “No, I think you are someone who just easily spaces out and gets lost… Even though you are not related by blood Ryan gets lost in thought and ends up somewhere he didn’t intend to go…”
Evren puckered her lips in thought. “Hmm I see… I guess I’ll just have to try hard to pay attention to where I am going then…” Yin breathed through her noise in a sort of snort like fashion believing that this girl took everything to light heartedly but at the same time thought that maybe it wasn’t such a bad thing as Evren wasn’t distraught over losing her memories.
“Now… your father may be willing to let you just do whatever you want but I on the other hand don’t like you spending all your time at home or the animal clinic.” Evren looked confused as her mother motioned to follow her into the kitchen and showed her a large stack of books and paper. Evren placed Reginald down as Yin continued to talk. “I’ve gotten some placement tests set up for you to enter school but seeing as I don’t know how far your memory loss extends to I have to do my best to educate you until then.”
Evren sweated nervously and then responded. “Umm I’ll do my very best… Mom.”
