I certainly hope this thread doesn't stay on the top of our guild frequently. sweatdrop Art theft is not a pretty thing. In an effort to stop these thefts as soon as possible, I want a place where people can let others know if there are any Gaians that are taking or editing other people's art without their permission. More often than not, people will take from more than one artist, so it's best if all the artists in this guild are informed when this kind of behavior exists. Signs of Art Thefttrying to sell edits that other people made. crediting other people's edits as their own. using other people's edits without the artist's permission editing the original artist's edits (ie, pasting their own head on, taking off the artist's signature) IMPORTANT: It is essential to not go accusing someone of stealing without knowing all the facts. Everyone should listen to the whole story before making any judgement. Dealing with Art Theft I do not want everyone to start flaming anyone that is being or has been reported. I think the best solution to art theft is for the original artist(s) to go to the thread and request that the person removes all pictures that belong to the artist(s), and then report to a moderator, if necessary. You have to keep in mind that, while a lot of art thieves are aware of this, there are still lots of Gaia members are quite young and do not understand that it is not appropriate to take someone else's art. So a lot of times, simply asking them to remove the pictures will be sufficient.
I also do not wish for people to start 'hunting' for thieves; I do not think that is worth the time. If you think this is too mean or very unecessary for this thread to exist, I will remove it immediately.

nah, Ian, those are completely different styles, even though they're from the same series. I can see how this could be confusing. An art thief is usually identified by the art being EXACTLY the same with only the sig either changed or removed. Some thieves are cunning and change the head, but usually they don't change anything at all. burn the lot of them.
so far I haven't had any thefts, thankfully.

Vorty's absolutely correct, Ian. This is most definitely not a theft, as much as I appreciate your effort to help. Drawing the same costume as me doesn't make it stealing. It would be stealing if he takes my avatar edit and tells everyone else that he made it. Let's place them side by side and take a closer look: The key, Ian, is to look at each part of the clothing, and compare the two edits. Look at the shoulders, look at the collars, the belt, the length of the jacket, the blue piece in the middle. They are all noticibly different.

I've caught people stealing my comic book edits and putting them in their sigs without permission. The key is that everyone who stole them does NOT have a superhero screen name (usually a hero's secret identity).
I'd greatly appreciate anyone reporting stolen comic avatar edits to me, as the insane amount of stolen bandwidth I dealt with last month made me move all my edits to a new domain.

Shaolin: "sorry, using my girlfriend's account right now, heh. Yeah I talked to Dark Dante and worked it out with him already. It was a small misunderstanding, and I let him continue using it if he wished to. Thanks for the tip, though ^_^"

Already mentioned this to shock, and I sent PMs to mercy and K175un3-54m4. But it would appear this guy "asmodium" is stealing peoples edits. Check out his sig. There's iampoison's umbrella corp edit. I am not sure who he ripped off the spike av from because I have seen alot. But I am fairly certain he did not make it.

i am forever indebted to judyfay sins for bringing this to my attention, this will not b forgotten 3nodding
i have already addressed the matter in the picture post and in the editor thief's avitar edit page.. i have also already contacted mmp, who seemingly received an original evangelion edit from said editor thief..shocktv3 hey asmodium, u know selling off other peoples' work as ur own isnt a good thing.. please dont steal my edits again. also, some of the other edits in ur sig pic look awfully familiar...asmodium here are a few of my recent one's people, dont do business with asmodium, hes not very honest. also, seeing as he just joined up recently, be wary of him working under other aliases stare
these are my old stuff: i dont know if anyone else wants to pursue any other courses of action, or if there even are other courses of action for this sort of thing sweatdrop but contact me n ill help as much as i can.
