Dancing, drinking, flirting, fighting and..."I swear, it was a talking cat that shot lasers out of its head! Do you think something like that could be made up on the spot!"
Jasper Pennington was standing next to the third cop to ask him the same old question of 'what happened here'. Though when he got to this part, each one would shut their notebooks, look him square in the eye and tell him to go home. This one dared to laugh at him when he said this. Had the man not held a loaded gun on his waist, and the ability to make the rest of Jasper's life hell, he might have considered cussing out the officer. But instead, he bit his tongue, turned, and made his own exit.
Moving through the lobby and out onto the streets, Jasper reached out and loosened his tie. The male had had enough. Tonight was supposed to be fun. A time to enjoy the ending of one year and the start of the next. Instead, he had spent most of it watching people try to kill each other or in the bathroom with two other men. The later part, he might have edited a bit to the cops. No one needed to know that little detail.
"Terrorist. That's what they call them hm? Not like any terrorist I ever heard about. What group would want to go through all that when they could just blow something up? Wouldn't it be easier?" Hewas talking more to himself as he stopped and looked back at the mess that was the hotel.
One thing was for sure, this one was hell of a New Years.

"Not terrorists," Acubens corrected gently as she approached. "More... misguided." She'd been in the area when the fight happened, though as per her usual plan of attack, she avoided the area at all costs, remembering all too well what happened the last time there were too many chaos signatures in one area. Even though she was one of those signatures now, she was in no hurry to be burned alive or crushed or whatever else would happen when too many fighters got into one room together. She only came to investigate what happened when the place was devoid of all powered energy signals, eager to aid whoever might need her assistance. When she noticed Jasper at first she thought he was very funny. This had never happened to him before, evidently, with how earnestly he was trying to convince the officer of what happened. Acubens had stood behind him while he spoke, hiding in the shadows so as not to be seen by too many. It was only when Jasper was clear of anyone else that she stepped out of the brush. "And you don't just tell the cops what happened, you lie. One of those sailor scouts could send then into space and they'd still think it was something like drugs in the water or a gas leak or some other sorry excuse." Acubens stopped talking suddenly, aware of her lack of manners. "I'm sorry. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Sailor Acubens, Dark Mirror Senshi of Velociraptors. I'm here to make sure people get home safely. I wouldn't put it past the negaverse to pick off stray civilians in the night."

Jasper had not caught any sight of movement coming from the opposite direction so when he finally heard the voice, the male jumped back than acted cool. His eyes focused in the night and he looked the person over from top to bottom as they talked.
Costume party? At least that was a logical answer to a night that made zero sense and he wanted over. Normally, he would have turned on the charm. Right now, he wanted to just end the night. He didn't care how cute her hair was. Frankly, he was drained.
"Lie? And tell them what? Crazy costume people showed up and let loose a pack of wild dogs? Oh because that's more acceptable." Jasper's voice carried the annoyance and anger he felt but his shoulders slumped slightly. "It's dumb either way!"
And then the rest hit him. "Wait...you're one of them?" He was back up, ready to make a run of it. Screw the shiny shoes if his life was in danger. "What do you want with me?"

"I was," Acubens admitted with no small amount of shame. "Until I was shown the truth. Sailor Senshi, they're called. And they will forever make the same mistakes and fall into the same traps." Her eyes looked lost as she spoke, the pity in them belying the shame in her voice. "The negaverse will forever corral them into a corner and they will forever thrash in their restraints. Not everyone can be save, unfortunately." She shook her head with her final statement, as though shaking off sleep. "No, in short I am not one of them. Even so, if you want to run, you may. I can't promise that the night is safe, but if you feel that I am the greater danger, then be my guest." She gestured grandly towards the night, crossing her arms in front of her chest. "Otherwise," she offered after a long pause, "you can come with me, and accept this offering from the Dark Mirror Court."

"Sounds more like you have a personal problem with them..." Jasper said quickly, keeping some distance from her. Was or was not one of them. She was something else and he wasn't sure that whatever it was wouldn't try and take him the way it did others.
But her words made both eyes enlarge and then narrow. "Offering?" Jasper's voice might have been a touch louder than he meant to be but the man was freaking out. Was she going to drag him away and cut out his heart to burn it to some god?
"Look, you seem to have alot on your mind and alot of other things but I have no plans to be made into an offering tonight..." Though his eyes quickly looked to the dark and then back at the hotel. Jasper's arms slumped. "But if you swear to whatever god, master, thing, it is you worship, then I would not might some company and some answers...."

Acubens' patience was quickly wearing thin as the boy continued to talk and she was beginning to wonder if he was even worth the effort. She recited her mantra silently, reminding herself that everyone deserved to come home. And even if this boy didn't have a starseed to awaken to her court, he did deserve to literally go home. And she'd make sure that he got there, safe, sound, and in one piece. She took a slow, deep breath, and refreshed the smile on her face. "The offering is a safe trip home, dear," sweetness came easily to her voice "not you." She ignored the reference to worship, deciding that the explanation of her court could wait for another night, if he truly was curious about them. For now, she had to build good will between whomever she could and the Dark Mirror Court. They had to be seen as good, because they were. They had given Acubens a home when she needed one, and given her strength when she had none. "As for answers," she sighed, glancing at the building behind the boy, "I'm afraid I might not have any. I don't know what happened here, and probably have less information than you. Honestly, I was just passing through when there were suddenly too many powered signatures in one place. Mostly Order aligned, and they always get stupid when they get cornered. And they always get cornered." Acubens ignored the comment about a personal problem. Whatever vendettas she was rightful for having, she had forgiven and forgotten. She simply didn't have much patience for stupidity, and the White Moon Court seemed to get itself into the same positions time and time again, always expecting a different result.

"Sounds like rats caught in a trap. A dumb ones at that if they cannot figure this out. " Jasper admitted, glazing back for a split second at the chaos around the hotel. His eyes quickly returned to the woman. He wasn't worried so much for his life now but that still didn't mean he trusted her. "A safe passage home? Alright then. This way." He nodded down the street he had started to walk on before she had scared what life remained out of him. Calmer, he wasn't rambling on but he never took at least some of his vision of her. "So what were you doing if not attending the giant mouse trap?"
