IC

Chandra had finally made it clear that the present he was making was not for Awen at all, but for another earthling - a female earthling. Awen was hurt, jealous, and bitter that Chandra had not thought of her. That he put an earthling girl over his own sprite.

With an angry tinkling, she flitted away into the wilderness, running from Chandra. What would she do now that she was alone?

Quest Tasks
||. This quest should focus on Chandra searching for Awen.
||. The quest should begin with Awen running away and Chandra somehow figuring out why she had ran.
||. Awen should find herself in some sort of trouble with a larger, more aggressive species in Tale.
||. Chandra will have to get her out of trouble, though she will have been banged up in the process.
||. Chandra may choose to heal her with magic or potions if the injuries are troublesome enough.
||. Quest results will not be effected whether Chandra chooses to use magic or not in his quest.

Why are you so Upset?

It had taken some time and attempts at being civil to finally get a local jeweler to construct the bracelet he wanted to give to Eira. The young man was worried that the festivities would be over and it would seem like an after thought to give her something... or worse...her and her troupe would of moved on. Perhaps it was the later he was more concerned about. If they had gone then how would he find her again? The idea of having to hunt her down was a bit on the troubling side. No he better get the bracelet to her as soon as possible.

When the jeweler finally announced to the rather impatient young man that it was finished he gingerly took the item in hand and held his breath for a moment. Perfect. He could only hope that Eira would like it as well. Nearly skipping home Chandra felt it would be best to go see the troupe right away. He would need to gather his satchel and perhaps a few things to snack on. A hand went to the scruff of hair that he had been trying to grow on his chin. It hadn't come very far, but he was trying to grow some facial hair to look older, more mature. Even if he felt he was mature enough to court Eira, she obviously only saw him as a young boy.

Feeling the stubble he felt self conscious about his appearance and went to double check how he looked in a mirror, placing the precious gift on the table as he did so. As he went to inspect his chin hair a little sprite by the name of Awen woke up from her sleeping spot. Stretching she moved up fluttering and darting over to Chandra and giving him a peck on the cheek before spotting the bracelet on the table. Clapping her two sets of hands together in delight she darted over to the bracelet and was a bit perturbed by how big it was. Picking it up the small sprite was trying to figure out how she was suppose to wear something so large. The entire bracelet was heavy enough that she couldn't even fly properly when holding it.

Lifting it onto her shoulders and wearing it like a boa she flapped very hard, and felt the weight sink into her weighing her down. It was then Chandra spotted her with it. Delighted to show off how it looked on her even if it was super heavy and awkward she had not expected Chandra to get upset.

"Awen! what are you doing? Your going to break it!" Chandra snapped as he turned his attention from the mirror and in a few short steps snatched the bracelet away from his sprite. Looking it over anxiously the young man gave a small sigh of relief to discover there wasn't any damage. He gave a look to Awen who was stunned at Chandra's reaction and just hovered in the air unsure of what to do.

"Awen I know you put a lot of work into helping me get this made, but you have to be careful, " Chandra was trying not to snap at Awen, though it did come across as scolding. "After all I would hate for it to be broken before I can even give it to Eira." The young man nodded his head, but as the words left his mouth it was the name Eira that was Awen's trigger.

The little sprite looked shocked then furious, flying up to Chandra's face and shouting out words he couldn't understand in her own little language before she gave a huff and then flitted out the window in a rage. Chandra's obvious reaction was to get angry back, after all when someone was yelling at him for reasons he didn't understand he get angry as well.

Growling to himself to carefully tucked the bracelet into his satchel to make sure it didn't get damaged or lost before going to lay down. "What's her problem?" He grumbled to himself as he flopped himself onto his hammock, placing his arms over his head so he could use them as a pillow. Seriously, he knew Awen could be moody at times but why would she just explode at him like that? The more he thought on the sprites weird behavior the angrier he got, getting defensive and thinking up things he would 'speak' to her about when she got home. Satisfied as he got a list of things to scold her about in his mind the young man settled in for a quick sleep. Awen would be back soon. After all where would she go? Smirking as his eye lids fell closed he chuckled to himself sure that he would see the sulking sprite when he awoke.

A Sinking Sensation

Night came faster than he realized, the shifter hybrid awoke with a stretch and yawn realizing that he over slept. His quick nap had landed him with night already falling and his dark room was evidence at the time if had become. Swinging out of his hammock and nearly stubbing his toe on something on the ground he cursed under his breath as he called out for Awen to get a light.

After all if he could of use magic he would of, but even as he snapped his fingers together creating small sparks it only caused the light up a very small area. With no response he grumbled wondering just how long Awen was going to be stubborn and keep sulking before he called out her name sharply this time as he groped around blindly for a light.

After a moment he was able to find a small lantern and lit it causing a small flame to dimly light the room. Sighing as he felt a dull ache in his toes he was quick to look about to see if he could spot his sulking sprite,

"She must be hiding.." Grumbled Chandra, feeling more irked now that Awen was pretty much just trying to antagonize him at this point. Fine if she was going to be that way...he could be too. It was rather ironic how he was trying to look more mature for Eira...but still was very immature emotionally about certain things.

Why did she get so angry anyway? The bracelet was much too big for her so...why would she try and wear the thing? Chandra mulled over this for awhile. It had been kind of a weird thing for Awen to get so upset over, it was never meant for her...so why would she get angry? Perhaps it was due to the fact that Chandra was a boy, and didn't understand a woman's delicate feelings..or he was too dense to realize how jealous Awen was when he paid attention to other females. That or oblivious to the fact Awen was really hurt that the bracelet had never been intended for her...even if she had jumped to conclusions about it being for her in the first place.

Understandably he was frustrated and unsure on why she was behaving this way and he wasn't about to apologize for something he wasn't even sure he did. He figured she must be sulking and knowing that he was in a bad mood staying out of his sight. Still it was strange for him to not at least catch a glimpse of her, or at least have her make her presence known...she must be very angry. Now it was Chandra's turn to pout, after all there was only so much cursing he could do and shouting at an empty room really was childish. Awen had to be somewhere...

Trying to calm himself down, he couldn't help but start looking about trying to see if he could find her. Or at least flush her out of her hiding spot where he could then get the satisfaction of lecturing her again. He was trying to not let it bug him, but as he continued to search for her, his tone going from irritated to angry and then back to irritated.. it was a good hour or so that he ...began to change his tune. Worry was seeping in his voice, Awen would of made herself known at this point.

His room was pretty much torn apart at this point, and there was still no Awen. No sign of her at all. Running his hand through his hair frazzled as he began to frantically wonder where she was. It wasn't unusual for Awen to have little tantrums, pout and sulk but she would always be somewhere nearby as if to remind Chandra she was still annoyed with him.

Night had fallen by this point, and with no signs of his little sprite he grabbed his cloak and satchel before readying a travel lanturn to help guide him. He often recalled mother and father lecturing him about the dangers of travelling at night, but he couldn't just sit there hoping Awen would return. Climbing down the rope ladder he was careful as he stepped onto the cool dry grass. There had been a brief period where the melted snow had actually brought a lot of greenery to the area, but it hadn't taken long for it go change back to that familar yellow.

Looking about Chandra gave one more glance up to his tree home before setting off. Mother would kill him if she knew he was out wandering alone. She would call him foolish for putting his life in danger for a sprite... But...Awen Had always been there. He couldn't recall a time without her and despite how callous he could be towards her she was very special to him.

Calling out softly he wandered the plains around his home, lifting his lanturn when he spotted movement or on some panic'd occasions the light reflecting eyes of a poscuta on the prowl. There were some sounds that gave him a chill when they were uttered in the night air, though one sound in particular drew his attention. It was a sound he was familar with but....mixed and contorted with pain and fear.

"Awen!" The young man called out dashing forward through tall grass his lanturn hefted high so make sure he didn't accidentally set a fire.

A Sprite Found...

There were the sounds of shrieks and whistles the one he reconized belonged to his sprite Awen, the others were of a small bird species commonly found in Tale the seriffin. How his sprite manage to tick off not only one of these birds but what sounded like a flock of them was beyond him. But it didn't matter as he stumbled across the creatures who startled by the sudden light as well his appearance scattered. They wouldn't stay away long, though little the birds were known to be quite aggressive when it came to their territories.

The young man looked frantically around, finally spotting The small sprite on the ground cowering. She was bleeding from numerous scratches on her body, a wing looked torn perhaps from a beak and Chandra knelt carefully and hesitated from touching her as she flinched.

"Awen, it's okay..I am here now...come on we have to leave before they get their courage back." Chandra spoke quietly although urgently. Though compared to him they were quite small, nothing compared to a kifna, a whole flock of them could mean trouble. The small sprite who had been using one pair of her hands to protect her neck, looked up at Chandra looking almost bewildered at his presence. As she went to stand however she collapsed, perhaps her wounds were more grevious a he first thought or the shock of the encounter was too much for the small sprite. Either way before he had a chance to scoop her up, the seriffin were back.

Giving screeches of warning the birds flew at him, trying to drive the strange humanoid away from their nesting site. Chandra cursed swatting as the birds came and tried to peck his at his head and face. He felt a sharp pain on his ear and gritting his teeth he snapped his fingers at the closest on sending a small jolt of electricity at them. It seemed to startle the bird enough to keep it from coming back for a second swoop, but he had to try and his the rest of them before they discovered that was his only trick up his sleeve. Trying to keep his own face from being pecked at he groped around for Awen, perhaps picking her up a bit roughly as he then bolted from the area.

Only to have to double back for the lanturn lest he get lost in the darkness. As his legs carried him quickly away from the annoying pests the young man was forced to stop once the seriffin had finally given up on him. Gasping for breath he was finally able to look at Awen's unconscious little body. Alright he had been a bit rough on her, the already wounded wing looked even more torn now and he cringed and gentle stroked her forehead with his thumb.

"I'm sorry Awen, I shouldn't of gotten so angry at you..now...look at you.." He felt tears building up in his eyes. He wasn't the type to get emotional, at least not crying but he felt so remorseful he wasn't sure what he would do if he lost Awen . Looking Around d he found a small flat stone to lay her on, looking over her wondering just what he should do now. Uncle Takoda could probably heal her up in a jiffy, but he was away right now, visiting the town of Neued in Jahaur .

Chewing on his lower lip he glanced around tryng to see if he could spot anything useful within the limited range of light. Wandering around in the dark would only waste time, and it didn't look as if Awen had lots of time he could waste. The sprite stirred her eyes opening and looking confused and unfocused up at Chandra, lifting his index finger he summoned a drop of water to top tip of it offering it to her to drink. Even with his rather limited use of magic he was thankful right at this moment it had been with him at all. The small sprite drank slowly but it as she sputtered and coughed she looked like she was growing weaker. She was still oozing blood from numerous cuts on her body, her wing rather mangled.

Stroking her head with one gentle finger he felt useless...all the magic he could use...and it felt like there was some unkown barrier stopping him from saving her. Summoning another small drop of water he quietly went about cleaning the blood off her body, rubbing gently in circular motions . Wiping away the blood he felt that right at this moment he'd give up all his magical ability if he could just heal her.

"I'm ...sorry Awen, I didn't consider your feelings and now I may loose the most precious thing I have..." Chandra felt rather exposed the cool night air slowly seeping into his body leaving him feeling chilled. What could he do? Surely he could save her, even if he wasn't his uncle he was just going to give up. Perhaps if he focused, tap into that magic that was unwilling to bubble forth but even if he could just use a bit of healing magic. Feeling stupid Chandra shifted suddenly trying to,position himself directly above Awen. Magic...was something deep inside yourself, and manifests with focus and direction. Just because Chandra was an angry sort and what magic he had tried to do was always on the destructive side. Fuelled by anger.

Right now though he wanted to save Awen, he was being fuelled with a different need to create. Not destruction but preservation. Taking a deep breath the young man brought his fingers to hover above the sprites weakened body. Uncle Takoda used water magic to guide his healing magic, but...disaaociating elements what was healing magic? He thought back on how he was a child, when he would get hurt and his mother or father would tend to him. What he drew from it was....a certain kind of warmth.

Taking a deep breath he closed his eyes and tried to bring forth that feeling. That glow that he would feel when being cared for. He felt the tips of his fingers warm slightly and when he opened his eyes he lay one finger on the numerous cuts on the sprites body. Although she flinched at the contact her body quickly relaxed as the warm healing magic spread through her body. Sweating now Chandra refused to stop until evey cut had closed, the wing would have to be dealt with by a professional but if he could stop the blood loss then she wouldn't die.

Onced finished he sighed in relief to see Awen stir and even sit up, looking up at Chandra before looking away as if embarrassed. They had both been stupid, relying on their anger to get their feelings across. Chandra at this point knew Awen was special, nothing could replace her as his companion, but she too would have to realize that would be the extent.

"Come Awen, let's go home and sleep." Chandra managed feeling completely wiped out from the nights events. Besides the lanturn was running dangerously low on fuel..and it would still be hours before dawn would rise. Taking Awen in hand she settled quickly into his palm holding onto a finger before drifting off to sleep. Chandra just walked slowly back home, looking at the night sky quietly contemplating what the future would hold for him as well his little friend.
