A Sprite Found...
There were the sounds of shrieks and whistles the one he reconized belonged to his sprite Awen, the others were of a small bird species commonly found in Tale the seriffin. How his sprite manage to tick off not only one of these birds but what sounded like a flock of them was beyond him. But it didn't matter as he stumbled across the creatures who startled by the sudden light as well his appearance scattered. They wouldn't stay away long, though little the birds were known to be quite aggressive when it came to their territories.
The young man looked frantically around, finally spotting The small sprite on the ground cowering. She was bleeding from numerous scratches on her body, a wing looked torn perhaps from a beak and Chandra knelt carefully and hesitated from touching her as she flinched.
"Awen, it's okay..I am here now...come on we have to leave before they get their courage back." Chandra spoke quietly although urgently. Though compared to him they were quite small, nothing compared to a kifna, a whole flock of them could mean trouble. The small sprite who had been using one pair of her hands to protect her neck, looked up at Chandra looking almost bewildered at his presence. As she went to stand however she collapsed, perhaps her wounds were more grevious a he first thought or the shock of the encounter was too much for the small sprite. Either way before he had a chance to scoop her up, the seriffin were back.
Giving screeches of warning the birds flew at him, trying to drive the strange humanoid away from their nesting site. Chandra cursed swatting as the birds came and tried to peck his at his head and face. He felt a sharp pain on his ear and gritting his teeth he snapped his fingers at the closest on sending a small jolt of electricity at them. It seemed to startle the bird enough to keep it from coming back for a second swoop, but he had to try and his the rest of them before they discovered that was his only trick up his sleeve. Trying to keep his own face from being pecked at he groped around for Awen, perhaps picking her up a bit roughly as he then bolted from the area.
Only to have to double back for the lanturn lest he get lost in the darkness. As his legs carried him quickly away from the annoying pests the young man was forced to stop once the seriffin had finally given up on him. Gasping for breath he was finally able to look at Awen's unconscious little body. Alright he had been a bit rough on her, the already wounded wing looked even more torn now and he cringed and gentle stroked her forehead with his thumb.
"I'm sorry Awen, I shouldn't of gotten so angry at you..now...look at you.." He felt tears building up in his eyes. He wasn't the type to get emotional, at least not crying but he felt so remorseful he wasn't sure what he would do if he lost Awen . Looking Around d he found a small flat stone to lay her on, looking over her wondering just what he should do now. Uncle Takoda could probably heal her up in a jiffy, but he was away right now, visiting the town of Neued in Jahaur .
Chewing on his lower lip he glanced around tryng to see if he could spot anything useful within the limited range of light. Wandering around in the dark would only waste time, and it didn't look as if Awen had lots of time he could waste. The sprite stirred her eyes opening and looking confused and unfocused up at Chandra, lifting his index finger he summoned a drop of water to top tip of it offering it to her to drink. Even with his rather limited use of magic he was thankful right at this moment it had been with him at all. The small sprite drank slowly but it as she sputtered and coughed she looked like she was growing weaker. She was still oozing blood from numerous cuts on her body, her wing rather mangled.
Stroking her head with one gentle finger he felt useless...all the magic he could use...and it felt like there was some unkown barrier stopping him from saving her. Summoning another small drop of water he quietly went about cleaning the blood off her body, rubbing gently in circular motions . Wiping away the blood he felt that right at this moment he'd give up all his magical ability if he could just heal her.
"I'm ...sorry Awen, I didn't consider your feelings and now I may loose the most precious thing I have..." Chandra felt rather exposed the cool night air slowly seeping into his body leaving him feeling chilled. What could he do? Surely he could save her, even if he wasn't his uncle he was just going to give up. Perhaps if he focused, tap into that magic that was unwilling to bubble forth but even if he could just use a bit of healing magic. Feeling stupid Chandra shifted suddenly trying to,position himself directly above Awen. Magic...was something deep inside yourself, and manifests with focus and direction. Just because Chandra was an angry sort and what magic he had tried to do was always on the destructive side. Fuelled by anger.
Right now though he wanted to save Awen, he was being fuelled with a different need to create. Not destruction but preservation. Taking a deep breath the young man brought his fingers to hover above the sprites weakened body. Uncle Takoda used water magic to guide his healing magic, but...disaaociating elements what was healing magic? He thought back on how he was a child, when he would get hurt and his mother or father would tend to him. What he drew from it was....a certain kind of warmth.
Taking a deep breath he closed his eyes and tried to bring forth that feeling. That glow that he would feel when being cared for. He felt the tips of his fingers warm slightly and when he opened his eyes he lay one finger on the numerous cuts on the sprites body. Although she flinched at the contact her body quickly relaxed as the warm healing magic spread through her body. Sweating now Chandra refused to stop until evey cut had closed, the wing would have to be dealt with by a professional but if he could stop the blood loss then she wouldn't die.
Onced finished he sighed in relief to see Awen stir and even sit up, looking up at Chandra before looking away as if embarrassed. They had both been stupid, relying on their anger to get their feelings across. Chandra at this point knew Awen was special, nothing could replace her as his companion, but she too would have to realize that would be the extent.
"Come Awen, let's go home and sleep." Chandra managed feeling completely wiped out from the nights events. Besides the lanturn was running dangerously low on fuel..and it would still be hours before dawn would rise. Taking Awen in hand she settled quickly into his palm holding onto a finger before drifting off to sleep. Chandra just walked slowly back home, looking at the night sky quietly contemplating what the future would hold for him as well his little friend.
