The Festival had been amazing and it was a late night days later as the two began making their way back toward Roddy's den. Considering the speeds they'd traveled the first day following the sounds of music, Rodimus wasn't entirely sure how far they'd traveled. Of course maybe they'd find a good spot along the way. There had been plenty of little spots under the trees and nearby to rest overnight around the Festival, but he was going to be grateful for some quiet... He looked over at Rainbow Dash and grinned, well relative quiet.
"So what did you like most about the Festival?" Roddy could think of a few highlights, like taking her hand and somehow ending up in a tree... Nothing was ever really predictable with this strange rainbow-haired girl and her little rainbow companion and Roddy was finding himself liking the adventure of it. Of course she was probably going to drive him crazy but he'd enjoy each step of the way.

Chi Sohma
Still in the mood of the carols, humming softly with a beat in her step. "Hm?[b/] As he broke her hum. A soft smile as she took in the day. It was nice, the snowball fight. The food. The singing. Even that old shabby wishing well. But she pushed that to the furthest of her mind. She hadn't seen her friends- made her sad. She wouldn't show it- she'd try not to. "I think dunking all that snow on those kits. But I also liked the caroling thing. THE FOOD! Oh YAS The foooooooddddd~" Carrying on with excitement in her voice. A jolly feeling in her step, like she was walking on clouds again. Circling him.
When she came back up under his wing. She closed the space between them and coo'ed in his ear. [b:v0jvkn you fell in the tree."["I think dunking all that snow on those kits. But I also liked the caroling thing. THE FOOD! Oh YAS The foooooooddddd~" Then side stepped away to laugh. "The almost rivaled the snow in the face~" Her soft laughter, but so wholesome. She really had fun...
"What was yours? Tell me you didn't like the food. MMmmmm so many greens and fruits!" It was like.. heaven.

Since he was looking at her when he asked the question he spotted the touch of sadness in her eyes before she pushed it away. He could guess at why, but like her determined to focus on the fun they'd had. When she was ready they'd talk about her friends. Of course one of her highlights would be him in the tree, but he was glad to see her talk her way back to happiness and laughter.
"Now if you hadn't decided to take me unawares for a flight we may not have been thrown so off balance when those kits started pelting us with snowballs," he said in teasing accusation.
He paused to let that sink in before smiling, "I did enjoy the food, even with having to stick mostly to those greens and fruits you prefer, but my favorite part was the singing. It brought me back some childhood memories I'd lost. I didn't remember this celebration existed until we stumbled upon it." He also wished that they'd gotten to do more dancing, the slow partner dances not the crazy group ones ... and yet it was so un-Dash like that he'd never built up the nerve to ask. And there he went going all thoughtful and a little sad...

The pony-ulaya had kept herself in the happy. At least in front of Rodimus. "Well the view from above is always better. I just had to see- and I couldn't leave you land lover on the ground for it." Nudging Roddy's side softly. Then letting her rainbow mane fall over the other side of her face. Blowing up at it to unbother her. "You know, you didn't have to stick with my vegginess. You couldn't gotten yourself a nice slab of-" Stopping short only because the THOUGHT of meat was getting her queezy. Her voice lowered. "Can't even imagen it." Sticking out her tongue.
But her tail lowered a bit.. She really wished she could have shared this all with her friends. Maybe she shouldn't have blasted off after that rainbow. "I'm glad I got to go... You know. Thanks for sharing it with me. I don't think it'd be as awsome, yea know. Going alone and what not." Looking at him. "You had a special spark to-ya though.. was it how you remembered it last? Or...? Who did you come with?"
Her eyes filling with wanting to know things. But of course, that would subside- because it'd be UNCOOL to look TOO interested.

"The view was great, I appreciate the thought," Roddy replied. "We should even give it another shot again some time with a little more preparation. Maybe with all this snow on the ground to cushion the fall we could try from a bit higher and maybe my wing flaps will be able to stabilize better than the lift straight from the ground..." He paused contemplating just how they could manage it..
He was then distracted by the rather adorable way she blew at her lock of hair to get it out of her face and the subject change back to food. "It was a good change for me to get some vegetables. And it's no trouble, I..." he paused to find the right words, "I really like spending time with you so I'd rather not nauseate you when we're having a meal. I'll probably crave meat from time to time but I can run off for a bit on my own for that."
It was a problem, especially when he wanted to continue spending time with her. but he would manage. There'd been some enjoyable things being cooked, food preparations that were new for him, perhaps a stew and he could sneak some meat in his own portion.
He noticed the slight droop to her tail and nudged up against her. "I'm glad we got to share the Solstice together, too." He paused. "A spark? You really think so?" he asked amused. His tone turned thoughtful as he sought to answer her questions, "Well I ... most of my memories are from a kit's perspective, my family attended when I was little; before I was all grown up and on my own. Focusing on taking care of myself I lost a lot of those memories." He sighed -- not all the memories revived were good -- then continued on... "But yeah it was a lot of the same stuff, I think the traditional carols are what really triggered the memories. Mother sang beautifully and we'd sing with her."

"Everything is better from the Clouds.." Her voice trailed, and with her reply- it was apparent that the very words made her feel off. Then he nudged her and she looked at him and smiled. "Well its good for you. It makes you healthy and maybe if you weren't so fat- I could hold you for a longer time. Ah- I mean- Just for the sight you know. Because you're like.. my bro and stuff. I can't leave you on the ground all your life. It'd be boring and-" The blubbering was of the nerves for sure. Other things were on her mind. Like her seeing Fluttershy.
They walked for a few before he broke the silence again, it had to be because she was mildly embarrassed of her blubbering.
From looking ahead, she looked at him when he spoke. The tenderness he had.. The way he spoke. He must have liked being together, it really showed.
"I.. Wouldn't mind hearing what you were like." Then looked ahead.. Then away when she felt her cheeks warm. "So.. why do you live alone, if you have family you could be with? I would be considered lucky if I had someone to sing to me. I'm not very good unless it's you know. Rock. But I hate it." Memories of her mothers.. so cold. He was lucky that he got so many warm memories. Softly she leaned against him.
"I'm happy I got to be apart of your memory for this year." Softly she turned to him. Her normal expression of over the top happy and rough. "But I'm sure I was the one holding you back from the things you wanted to see. Um.. You can go back if you wanted to enjoy it more. You didn't have to leave with me. I wouldn't have minded." She would have, even speaking such a thing, her voice trailed lowly. Not knowing what it was like to be alone because she was always seeking her friends for company. Her rainbow flew past them and jumped up and down before slithering around Rodimus's neck.
Cheerfully waving about at its ends.
Her rainbow didn't like just anyone. Fluttershy, that's it.
"Traitor." Huffing.

Roddy just laughed off the fat bit, but her apparent nerves got him through the bro comment, though it did stab a little. He let her babble and then responded to the rest of her questions...
"What I was like as a kit? A bit of a mischief maker of course, always getting into everything... Of course you wouldn't know what that'd be like at all." He held on to the good memories for a moment before he moved on to the dark... "I had... I had a really great childhood I suppose. We did a lot together, but my parents were... are still I guess ... really traditional. They raised us to adulthood, made sure we had the knowledge to go out into the world, until we could take care of ourselves. Then... that's what we had to do. We took a last trip together and one morning parents and younger siblings were gone."
He stopped his head down, "I guess the good memories... well it's nice to have those back...." he didn't sound certain at all about that last statement.
"Damn...I'm sorry Dash..." He leaned into her contact. "I'm glad I have some new memories, really great ones of the Celebration... with you."
He was surprised to find the rainbow friend swirling around him, he smiled as it waved about and even chuckled at Dash's "traitor."

"A cut like that.... must have hurt." She leaned in to him more and looked at him. Nudging him with her shoulder as they walked. "Not even saying good bye."
[ Flash Back ] 'YOU DID THIS TO YOUR MOTHER!' [/ end]
Her eyes shot open and a piercing feeling went through her heart as she gasped for a moment. A memory. She had almost stopped completely, she blew out the air.. Like her chest had tightened so hard that breath seemed like a gift. "Oh..ah.. " Trying to recover back her smile. Her happiness.. her rough around the edges attitude but even then. "I guess growing up is overrated." It was said as a side comment at best, she wouldn't let her memories get ahold of her.
It was then that his words... leaned over to her side. How he spoke them made her cheeks flush. "Don't say such weird things with that face!" Snapping back at him. Puffing her cheeks out. "The celebration was cool...Even if you sounded like a horse." An evil snicker of her teasing.
With that she kicked up and flew in to the air with a hovering at his side. Then flying as if she was swimming on her back. "You know. I guess... I'll stick around then. Just til you think I'm annoying and even then I probably won't. Someone has to protect you- until you tell me to leave and get yourself a lady friend. Cause- that's what -grown ups- are suppose to do. That's what your family would have wanted." A soft nod as she was able to look at the stars with this position.
"My friends... we never left each other to go through the world alone. We were always around each other so we could have someone to face the world with. Because sometimes family are the first ones to leave... " Now she could express her pain without him having to see it. Now she could just pretend like she was the cool one.
"Who else would put up with you anyways~ Why haven't you -grown up- Is there something wrong with you. Like a weird appendage or something~"

Roddy frowned, "We knew it was going to happen, they wanted a clean break I guess... There have been times I thought about passing through our old home territory, but I dont' even know if they'd still be there."
Maybe it was a sign of how close they were growing that she seemed to dig straight to his heart when she chose to tease him. "You must have been hearing yourself," he snapped back not able to stop the words coming out.
At first when she took to the air he thought she was going to leave, so her talking about sticking around was a bit of a surprise. "Why would being annoying be a reason for you to leave? We all have our moments," he replied his tone still slightly defensive.
"Yep, because my parents set such a great example of being 'grown ups.' There's no need to worry about me getting myself a lady friend, because as far as I'm concerned I already have one...." he said it in such a way it took a minute to realize what he said. In a piece of back-peddling worthy of Dash, "Because... you're a lady and we're friends... right? Your other friends, I don't know what happened to them, or where they might be now, but you're not stuck alone in this world. Maybe we'll find them someday, but at least for now... we've got each other. We'll probably end up strangling each other one day, but at least we'll go out together...."

"Grown ups are stupid." Was the only thing she could muster up. "I prefer friends." It was because she didn't know what a real family was suppose to feel like. Being ostracized, being hurt was normal. Feeling invisible.. Pushing everyone away. "Hey I told you I couldn't sing!" Snapping at him as she twirled around to look down at him. There he went.. saying weird things.
She flapped a few forward of him then landed.
He was speaking about them, he didn't know them. He didn't know that they were inseparable. When the lands started to rumble and she followed the rainbow away from the chaos. How they were separated. Being apart from them hurt, she just couldn't show him. "So may be I should just leave then. So you could find a lady friend." Stopping in front of him so he would have to walk to her. Just a few paces away.. Her face wasn't smiling. Instead. The facade of a smile and laughter.
"It's different. Someone you wouldn't mind growing up with." Her ears panned back.
"If we find them. I don't want you to leave. Im..used to you now. So. Don't- You have to have a real good reason to! Like..growing up with someone to leave. So..let's.." That was her inner soul- her power- Loyalty....
"Even when you grow up.. you can still count on me! Because I'll always be there to help. I don't care what happens because when I decide that I care- I really do." Her words were feminine, but her face looked fierce and determined. Like she was trying to prove to him something, and she felt strong for saying it because .... she didn't want anyone to feel abandoned.

"Growing up is over rated. I've had years to be a grown up and yeah it's stupid being alone. I think its better to have some one to grow with, up , down, sideways...."
He walked up to where she landed. "I really would hate it if you left Rainbow Dash," he said moving close. She had her wings, she could fly... he really hoped she wouldn't. Maybe he was pushing it, maybe the emotions in the air were overwhelming them both... but he couldn't help it. He reached up and brushed her hair out of her face.
"I'm glad to know that you care," he said softly looking her in the eyes. "And I mean what I said about not needing to go off to find a lady friend..." Inside he was panicking, what was he doing? She was going to just fly off, she had her strength back their time at the Celebration had proven that. But he stayed there his heart in his eyes, the care and likely the fear showing.

That strength she had. It was from him. Because like him, she had a hurt from her parents. Grown ups were stupid. But what he was saying, she couldn't comprehend they way most would. She'd never encountered this, just watched her friends squeel from afar with other males. The Wonder Bolts, were those she admired and wanted to be apart of so her father would notice her. To make her mother proud...
But this strength.. this feelings.
'I really would hate it if you left..'
She could feel her heart skip. Then he closed the distance and for a moment. This fluttering weird feeling in her stomach started to crawl and spread out all around her. What was he.. saying? Surely this was a ruse or some joke. What exactly was happening? They were friends of course!
Her face got so red... touching her hair and getting so close. By the time this was, all teh excitement made her warm. Moving made her warm but like this.. she was cold and didn't realize how it was slowly affecting her. Her face was looking down now.. and the ground went wavey.. and blurred. Then she started shaking.. Her head was starting to hurt. Then.
"Rod...imus."
Falling forward and falling on to him.
When her body naturally slouched down, it showed that she had fallen asleep...
Her rainbow rushed around them and started freaking out around her. Her tongue hung out, she really did.. just pass out.

Oh no... what had he? He caught her close against him, the way she'd said his name and then... had she just passed out on him? "Dash?" No response but her body was relaxed and her breathing steadying as she slipped into sleep.
He lifted her, to carry her as he had once before draped over his back. It was much harder to get her in a comfortable position for him to carry, he'd had her working with him, weakly but still able to give some help. It didn't help to have their rainbow friend frantically flying in circles around them. "She's asleep," her said reassuringly. "I think, we're both a bit exhausted. Can you help me find a den?" He wasn't sure if the rainbow would assist. It seemed to like him but it might be upset that he'd caused Dash's collapse, which of course he had. Thankfully it seemed to be willing to help, whether just for Dash's sake or for them both didn't matter. It circled once before speeding off and out of sight.
Though there wasn't much to do but wait, Roddy decided it would be best if he got moving while he still had the energy in him. The emotions that had gone through him tonight had drained him and it was his concern for Dash and his need to take care of her that kept him from also collapsing on the spot. The rainbow returned rather quickly and by it's light Roddy realized they were in familiar territory. It hadn't seemed like their talk had last all that long but they'd kept moving through most of it and the miles had passed without them noticing.
With the little rainbow happily leading the way, Rodimus carefully carried Rainbow Dash to his den nestled in the trees with the rabbit ear cliffs darker shadows against the night. It took a little work but soon both were safe and secure within the nice warm den. Roddy curled up around Dash, nuzzling her affectionately a new warmth growing within him as he finally gave in to his exhaustion and slept...

Rodimus wasn't fully sure how long he'd slept, but neither of them had moved in their exhausted slumber. He carefully uncurled himself from around her and watched the steady rise and fall of her breathing. Reassured that it was still sleep he stood and stretched. A peek outside the den revealed it was just about dawn. He contemplated leaving and maybe doing some hunting for himself, but did not want Dash to awake alone.... ever again.... He shook himself, he really shouldn't allow himself those thoughts. As much as he truly wanted to wrap himself around her again, he instead settled a little closer to entrance of the den. To doze and to wait and see what full morning would bring....

Maybe it was the cold and her full on hyper mode during the celebration that caused her body to shutdown completely. Maybe. When she awoke, she was alone. Or, she thought she was. Her eyes slitted, scanning the area for a moment before lifting her head. Eyes begged for less light. "Roddy?" Stretching herself out as the rainbow left Roddy's side to be around Dash. Shaking off her exhaustion as she slowly made her way towards the shadow that casted within the den. This... was not their usual place of stay. Wondering what happened that night. "Roddy~~" The first he had woken up before her since her recovery. A slight nag tone before she trotted over to him and pushed her shoulder in to his. "Morning~" A yawn escaped.
"Mmmm.... Woah.." Finally she looked in the direction he was facing. The dawn's colors beautifully painted over the sky. Her wings fluttered quickly behind her, so much she wanted to be fly high above the clouds. Those days.. were over. "Mmm It's beautiful isn't it." Wagging her rainbow ended tail. "You didn't do any funny business last night did you." The tone was light and jokingly. "Hopefully you didn't do something I wouldn't do." Referring to someone that wasn't herself of course. Especially how she saw some girls checking Roddy out during the festival. "You went back to the festival like you did the night before right? I can protect myself you know." The slighest concern, maybe even to make things clear. She wasn't a child to be looked after, but really. She hadn't ever been treated like a real adult. Much less treated like a female to be courted. But all she did know that the memories she shared with him. She'd never forget.

Roddy looked back and smiled at her. "Good morning." He gave her a light nudge in response to her push against him. "Yes, it's a beautiful morning." Roddy bristled a bit at her joking accusation, the raised fur thankfully hidden by his clothing.
"No, we're a bit far for me to go back to the festival and sneak back," he replied his tone light and joking. "And I know you can protect yourself." He wasn't quite sure what to make of her this morning, was she trying to brush off what happened, what he'd said... or maybe... maybe she didn't remember. "Besides I, wouldn't want to go back without you. It wouldn't be nearly as much fun."
She hadn't mentioned before knowing that he'd gone back that one night. "That night I was just dealing with those memories returning and couldn't sleep... I'm sorry." He was hesitant to bring the topic back to last evenings conversation, but he felt the need to explain since she'd noticed his absence...
