"Niday, please!" The golden winged fae begged her sister, holding the precious egg. On their way out of the carnival, she had admittedly dropped the rock in all the excitement, revealing the precious purple orb. And confirming Mama Blues' prediction of a living creature inside. "There's no mother, no father. It'll die without somepae!"

"No. You heard that faun. That...that thing will turn into a monster. That it will hurt us, or other pae. We can't be responsible for hurting others." Her voice was colder than a winters night, the pure black fae walking first into their log cabin home.

"We can stop it, I know we can! We can raise it right. I know you. You're not the type of pae that would sentence a baby to die." After arguing in circles the entire way home, her voice was beginning to fail. "Niday...Niday! Look at this egg and tell me you want to kill it. Because if we leave it, it will die."

"Goddess have mercy Dayht, this is not something I WANT to do!" Her voice bounced off the walls as she sharply turned on a heel to stare down her sibling. It wasn't often that she raised her voice, but after a good two hours of the same conversation her patience had run thin. "We have something that made a full grown pae lose her mind for a moment. The instant she saw it, she wanted to burn it or throw it in a lake. Now I'm not inclined to find out what made her that way." And now Dayht was tearing up. Great.

She was the bad guy. Again.

Niday let out a slow sigh as she stepped over to her sister, placing her hands on the others shoulders. "Day...I am sorry. I know. But it is better to do this now when it's still an egg, than have to destroy it later if it becomes a monster. This way it is painless, for every one."

The instant Nidays hands touched her shoulders, the fae couldn't hold it in anymore. Full, fat tears began rolling down her cheeks. "If. You said it yourself. If. We don't know. Do you trust me Niday?"

She hated it when her twin cried. The Day Fae had done so much of it from Apollo, and the festival had finally made her smile. Now it was back to tears. "Dayht...Day I know where you're going with this-"

"No, answer me Niday. Do you trust me? Have I ever let you down? It's a yes or no question."

"...Dayht...This isn't..."

"Niday!"

"Yes Dayht. Of course I trust you. But-"

"No buts! I'm asking you to keep trusting me. I know we can do this. I know we can save it. We're better pae than to take the easy way out. Please. Please, please, please. If I have to I will run away with this egg so far that you'll never find us. But the best shot we've got to making this actually work, is for your help." She sniffled as her pale eyes fell down to the little purple egg in her arms. "Because, you're way smarter than me. I'd be lost without your help."

For a moment, Niday couldn't respond. Her hands fell away from her sister, and she merely stared at the golden winged fae crying onto the fragile egg. What should she do? Dayht had clearly given her an ultimatum. There was no discussion further. "...Yeah. You would be, wouldn't you Day?"

Instantly her head shot up, eyes fastening onto her sibling. "Niday...?"

"...Yes Dayht. We can keep the egg. I trust you will be the best mother on the isle."

She won? She actually won in an argument with her sister? Slowly a smile crept onto her face before fully flinging her body in a full on hug, moving the egg to the side of their bodies so she wouldn't crush it. "Thank you Nigh-Nigh! We made the right choice, I swear! You are the best sister a sister could have!"

~~~~~ And so the poor little egg finally found a home ~~~~~~~~
