Eternal Senshi

PostPosted: Mon Jan 05, 2015 12:37 pm

Lieutenant Aquamarine was in a pissy mood.

Not because he had to interrogate prisoners. He liked that part. It made him feel strong and capable and superior to the Senshi—which he was, of course, being an agent of Chaos. He didn't have to have anything personally against them to want to be better than them.

It was that Jet was swinging back and forth between hot and cold. One minute Jet would be snapping at him for something completely stupid, and the next he'd be ignoring Aquamarine entirely. The ignorance was typical and the snapping was not, though Aquamarine would prefer the latter option over the former.

It probably had something to do with the fact that he'd taken credit for Jet's capture of that Eternal Senshi. Ah well, Jet would get over it at some point. In any case, Aquamarine was letting him tag along on an interrogation in an attempt to put him in a batter mood.

“I'll even let you do most of the work,” he offered, opening the door onto their intended prisoner.

It was the pitiful little Senshi he'd taken down on his own.

“You’re good at that, aren’t you?” Jet hissed as Aquamarine opened the door, shooting him a glare as he passed. Of course he’d let him do all the work. Just like he’d let him do the work with the Eternal senshi, only to claim Jet’s work as his own. He had no way to prove it, of course, but now that he knew how much of a back stabber Aquamarine was, he knew to keep on his guard.

“If you cooperate, you might be allowed to live,” Jet told the senshi as he approached her, circling her, his eyes sharp and narrow as he inspected the bindings around her hands. “If you don’t, you’ll be in for a fate worse than death.”

And if she couldn’t think of what that could possibly be… oh, he would have her begging to be killed by the time they were done with her.

Light from the hallway filtered into the otherwise dimly lit room causing the young senshi to stir. Roused awake by by an uncomfortably bright flame red color from behind closed lids and the sound of voices bickering, Acrucis’ head throbbed like something fierce. It was as if she had pulled multiple allnighters in a row for school just to be woken two hours after falling asleep.

Sleep… was that what she had been doing? Or was it that she was still doing so now?

Dark lashes parted slightly revealing deep blue eyes devoid of that spark of life she had when fighting the lieutenant; the desire to get away and unwillingness to back down. Her gaze instead remained fixated on an arbitrary point someplace past the door in front of her as a shadow passed over her. Boots clicked louder in her ears with her face resting against the cold hard ground while her guest circled her like a predator taking stock of it’s prey.

The words he spoke were unclear and so she remained still. Defiance in the face of certain death, but in truth she was far less coherent than she would have been had she not have hit her head twice consecutively before blacking out.

Aquamarine made faces behind Jet's back to help himself feel better after Jet's rebuttal.

God, what was his problem? It was just a little knock on the head! It wasn't like Aquamarine had been the one to beat him up. The Eternal Senshi and the silly civilian had done that before he had the chance. He'd just put poor Jet out of his misery before someone else came along and did it. It wasn't his fault Jet liked to get himself beat up so often.

But then, considering the frequency with which Jet did get beat up, the idiot had probably lost quite a few braincells, which might explain his shitty attitude.

Once they'd entered the room, Aquamarine took up a position by the door and leaned against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest, switching his attention from Jet to the Senshi on the floor. Pathetic little thing. It'd been so simple taking her out. If all the Senshi were like this, Aquamarine didn't envision very many problems in his future.

“Are you going to talk or are you going to keep lying there crying for your mommy?” he jeered. “Talking will make things easier, you know.”

Aquamarine was lucky Jet didn’t see him. He was already angry enough as it was, he didn’t need the lieutenant he thought was supposed to be his friend being a little brat behind his back. And knocking him out for no damn reason.

“Who are you and why did you come to Earth?” he started after Aquamarine’s comment, continuing to circle her once he was satisfied her that her hands were bound. “Why do you fight? What purpose could you possibly have?”

Acrucis opened her mouth to reply but as she drew in a breath the only sound that followed was a string of dry coughs. Her throat felt like sandpaper almost as if she had ran a marathon through the desert which only made matters worse; truly she did not wish to anger them by delaying.

With her arms tied securely behind her back she found it quite difficult to roll over with the cold metal chain links digging into her ribs let alone manage to sit up.

Fight? she couldn’t help but laugh at the irony. “My reasons are my own.” There was no reason for him to know everything she had went through over the past three years or the number of friends she had lost at the hospital. Just when she thought they were getting better some nurse would emerge from their rooms with weeping parents and sorrow would fill her heart.

“Though I will tell you in the year I’ve been a senshi I’ve never actually fought anyone.” She cleared her throat before adding “My magic doesn’t exactly permit it.” To this date, everyone she had met thus far she had either healed unseen injuries, spoke to civilly, or ran the hell away from. Not even youma had anything to fear from the little Senshi of Prayer.

”All I’ve ever wanted to do was help people who were hurt, it never mattered to me what side someone was on.” Words meant to remain unspoken left her lips unbidden as if in a daze. As if she were still trying to convince herself that was still the case.

“What a pretty speech,” Aquamarine observed dryly.

He looked bored. Was he bored? A little. But only because he was standing back and letting Jet do all the work. Not that Jet had done anything yet. If Aquamarine had been the one in charge of this interrogation, he'd've opened with a nice smack across the face.

It was a total power trip, having these Senshi and Knights at his mercy, being able to pummel foes he would have struggled against had they not been so weak and weary. Aquamarine rather liked the feeling he got from it. There was a certain sense of satisfaction that came with knowing he had all the power over an enemy.

Where that had come from, he had no idea. Perhaps it had always been there and the Negaverse had simply brought it out in him.

“'All I ever wanted to do was help people,'” he mocked her, chuckling to himself quietly. “You're not helping anyone with your answers so far, least of all yourself. Tell us something worth the effort it took to bring you in and maybe we'll be nice and spare you some of the pain the others have had to go through.”

Spare her some of the pain? Well, Aquamarine could speak for himself. Her answers angered him. She was mocking them, lying through her teeth. He didn’t doubt she had magic that didn’t allow her to fight, but for her to be completely innocent??

Liar!!” he yelled, lifting his leg to kick her in the stomach, wanting to knock her back down to the ground where she belonged. “You think you’re such a good person?? Just because your magic doesn’t permit it doesn’t mean you can’t still fight and kill!” he raged, kicking her once more.

He didn’t believe anything senshi told him. They were all liars. Why they were bothering to interrogate them and not exterminate them, he didn’t know. “What is your name??” he asked more directly as she hadn’t answered him from before. “So high and mighty you seem to think yourself to be! We’ll see you rot before you have the opportunity to help.

The repeated blow to her abdomen was enough to force the air from her lungs for what felt like more than several minutes as she struggled to draw in a breath of air. Having been kneeling before the two lieutenants, the first kick was enough to send her backwards, something she was ill prepared for given how the dark room still spun and how much concentration it was taking to remain upright. To land on bound arms and steel chains the way she did, if it were possible she would have cried out in pain as the rough concrete scraped against her bare arms and head once more hit the solid ground.

Her heartbeat was loud in the otherwise silent room as the Senshi of Prayer struggled to roll over onto her side only to be kicked once more by the same individual. Unable to bring her arms up to block the impending blow all she could do was squeeze her eyes shut in anticipation and pray he hesitated or chose not to kick her again. It was, however, a prayer left to be unanswered.

She had felt pain before, but not like this. Deep aches in her bones and joints from undergoing treatments at the hospital and the nauseous feeling she got from various medicines paled in comparison to what she felt right now.

Tears welled up in her tightly squeezed eyes from both panic and injury only to slide down her pale face to the concrete floor to which her head rested upon. “Acrucis” she finally managed to whisper once she was able to draw in a small amount of air. “M-m-my name” she exhaled and inhaled several times to try to syme the sobs long enough to answer their question then continued “My n-name is Acrucis.”

Bile rose in the back of her throat burning her esophagus causing her to cough uncontrollably forcing her stomach to tense when all she wanted to do was give into the blackness that colored the edges of her vision. Oh how she would have begged for unconsciousness to take her away if only it would mean they would leave her be.

Aquamarine had every intention of standing back and letting Jet do all the work (and, no, he didn't plan on knocking him out this time, if you must know). As much as he would have liked to get in a few blows on the Senshi himself, he was rather amused by the show Jet was putting on.

Besides, he'd already had the opportunity during the battle at the hotel.

“Acrucis, hmm?” he observed. He'd not gotten her name when he'd been fighting her. It was good to finally put a name to that face.

“And what sort of powers do you have, Acrucis?” he asked. “You used them during the battle, didn't you? I saw you trying to hide behind a larger man. You weren't attacking anyone, so what were you doing to yourself? What does your magic permit you to do?”

The tone of his voice was mocking, an amused drawl he only ever fell into when he was enjoying the opportunity to cut someone down to size. As far as he was concerned, this Senshi had already been cut down. What a pathetic excuse for a soldier she was.

Laying on the ground in the fetal position, the Senshi of Prayer had not the strength to sit up again. Still struggling for air, unable to draw in a deep breath without making her lower ribs scream in protest, Acrucis let out a whimper; oh what she’d do to have her hands unbound so she could try to make this pain go away.

It was hard enough as it was to pay attention to what the two were saying with her head throbbing and the sharp stabbing sensation behind her right eye; results from slamming her head on the ground and then being hit in nearly the same spot. Some of what they said seemed slurred in their sarcastically bitter tone making it difficult to discern what exactly they were asking.

Broken pieces of what he said came through clearly, the rest a mumbled sound overshadowed by her coughing. ‘You used them… behind a man… your magic do.’ After blinking several times trying to piece together what he might be asking, not wanting to be kicked again… lord she did not want to be kicked again, Acrucis realized that the man who stood furthest away was the same one she had encountered at the masquerade… the one she kicked.

“Healing… I was healing myself.” Or trying to at least till he knocked her out.

”Healing?” Jet snorted, amused that she was stuck with something like that. “Some good you did in trying to heal your friends at the party. You were just wandering around like a lost animal,” he pointed out, his arms crossed as he sneered down at her crumpled form.

“Pathetic…” he let out a laugh. He stepped closer to her, nudging her over with his foot so he could see her face. Carefully and precisely, he placed his foot against her neck, pressing down gingerly for now.

“Who were you looking for?” he wondered, curious about her, though not nearly enough to want to help her. “What did they look like? Do they have a name? Maybe we have information about them.”

Aquamarine mirrored Jet's snort. He followed this with a low chuckle, both amused and derisive.

“Didn't do you much good in the end, did it?” he said.

He stood back and watched as Jet worked the Senshi over. He didn't care to have anything to do with this one. He preferred bigger prey, the sort he could beat down to size. This one was practically insignificant by comparison.

“In other words, you're useless,” Aquamarine continued. “And selfish to boot. Healing yourself instead of saving your strength for one of your allies. You might have been able to save one of them if you'd run when you had the chance. Instead you stuck around and wasted time healing yourself. You thought hiding behind someone else was going to save you. What a little coward you are. Useless, selfish, cowardly. What good are you at being a Senshi?”

Acrucis held her breath and bit down firmly on her lower lip when he rolled her over to get a better look; oh how her body protested the undesired movement. With her arms pinned beneath her, chains pressed harshly against her bare forearm and that which bound her wrists together dug into her lower back. Struggling was useless considering it would have more harm than good without the use of her hands to dislodge the lieutenant's foot.

To delay in answering his questions would only give him reason to doubt her words. However before she was even able to formulate some coherent reply with the added pressure of his boot pressed against her throat, the other lieutenant saw fit to interrupt her thoughts.

The words he spoke in a near breathless accusation only gave validity to the thoughts she had been having for a long while. It was true, she was a coward in the way she sought shelter behind an innocent or even in the way she relied on her best friend, Phact, do the fighting while she stood a safe distance away.

When it came to anything more than cuts and scrapes or bruises it was true, she was useless. How many visits did it take to help mend the lacerations another senshi had sustained? Many, but it didn’t dissuade her from returning if anything it served to strengthen her resolve and determination to grow stronger so maybe one day it wouldn’t take so many visits.

“I may be a useless… selfish coward.” She paused trying to gather courage for what she wanted to say next. She saw him attack another agent from behind so what did that make him? “But at least I’m not a backstabbing traitor that attacks my allies.” she spit out with venom. Any retaliation from him would be well deserved but at least she said her piece.

As Jet stood over her, his foot pressed against her throat, something shifted in his eyes as she spoke. A small realization maybe, or perhaps a spark of anger, he wasn’t sure himself. But the fact that this senshi seemed to have seen what happened changed something in him.

Perhaps it was a show of his youth and immaturity, but Jet slowly removed his foot and turned to face Aquamarine. All of his pent up anger and embarrassment went into a heavy right hook at Aquamarine’s face. He shook off his hand and turned back at that point, kicking the woman once more in the side.

“Don’t speak of things you know nothing about,” he hissed, his actions obviously a stark contrast to his words. Though he didn’t want their motives questioned as a whole, his business with Aquamarine was his. “Answer my question. Who were you looking for? Another senshi? A knight? A Negaverse officer?” he wondered his eyes sparkling once more.
