Out of the weirdness that is me, I strangely found the movie (V for Vendetta) having some connections to PotO. Am I weird because I thought of that? Here's a pic of the character V and Evey Yes, the only thing the picture shows that it's similiar to PotO is the mask... and even that is not really PotO since the mask is smilling. Well here's what I know: he's an expert in knives/ daggers, he lives underground (in fact one of the cast said: "He lives underground like the Phanotm of the Opera), he was burned, he has a thing for the number 5... Who else believes this or who believes that I'm just ubber- obsessed with PotO that I connect farfetched things to PotO? I'm not sure if I'm posting this thread in the right place and if I'm not, then forgive me.

I screamed with phangirl delight when my bro told me about it bro: Have you seen the extra for V for Vendetta? Me: *indifferent, busy playing PS2* Ye...No bro: Oh, he has a mask Me: eek What?! bro: He's said to be physically and mentally deformed Me: *prepared to scream Erik's name* but wait, Erik isn't menatlly deformed, he's a genuis! bro: I meant he believes everyone's evil Me: ERIK!!! And, You should see him without his fedora hat thing, that's when he starts to look scary. He's even scarier when he planted TNT's on himself too scare a cop to let him in the building. I wanna watch it already... yeah haven't seen it yet... I hear it's kinda good.

Erik may be a genius but he is a littttle metally deformed in the social skills department.

It burns! *Claps hands over eyes and rolls on the floor* I have an inexplicable fear/hatred of mustaches. It's not so much that it's a mustache in itself, but that it's on a mask. I mean sheesh, dude. O_o @ Baka: A little? Sweetums, that is the understatement of the millenia. XD

Yes, we should burn the mustache down! But then again if we did that it would ruin who he is trying to portray, Guy Fawkes (the mask is based on Guy Fawkes face after all)
And yes, I've seen it!!! It was like eek And barely related to PotO... the only thing I could see that was remotely related was him wearing a mask, his vask vocabulary, him living underground and him kidnapping Evey....
But it was a good kick-a** movie to see, well for me anyway... but there was something about the ending, that freaked me out a bit... but I won't saying anything to spoil you people. whee

Ooh! I just saw that today! I must say, I had doubts about how PotO-ish it would turn out to be (I have doubts about everything, don't I?) but when I was leaving the theater, I was about to scream out in PotO-yness-induced jubilation.
Not really, but I was like "Wow. That was awesome!"
Excellent movie.

I was thinking the same exact thing! I thought it was PoTO the first time I saw the commercial.

I hope more people appreciate the movie. I say go see it, and don't listen to the reviewers, 'cause it really, really awesome.
*Supports the movie wholeheartedly*

are you kidding me? It was TOTALLy PoTO related, I mean it screamed it for goodness sake! He's a genius of sorts dedicated to a cause, you could say the phantom was only dedicated to his arts before he met Christine, and Evy totally changed V's life made it meaningful. They even qouted Faust!!! and what about all the music? all the art? I mean I tittered insansly in the begininng where he "composed" the music/explosion (the overture of 1812 I was told). He even leaves a rose with people when he kills them, and he sort captures Evy and brings her to his "lair" and forces her stay there *wiggles persuasive eyebrow* huh? huh? Sure, the story itself doesn't relate much to PoTO but there are definantly some strong habitual characteristics that can relate V and Erik together.
On that note I LOVED this movie and anybody who hasn't seen it must! It's right up there on my favorite comic movies (just below batman begins) and considering it was based off an old comic it makes me want to go and find it >.>....

Yes, many of V's characteristics are similiar to Erik's.
The story itself, though -- not so much.
I do, however, recommend the movie and it's original graphic novel. They're both very enjoyable.
Hugo Weaving really stole my heart as V.
