Or ... whatever you do when you're alone.Okeanos, today, was doing things by himself. That was pretty typical. It was rare to find the bright yellow naiad in any other company besides his own, and it almost seemed that he preferred it that way -- but then again, into conversation he blended just as easily, though how he behaved was not exactly anything akin to normalcy whether he was alone or with another pae. Of course, he was charismatic and somehow charming, perhaps in a strange way, that much was given. That was how he blended in. That was how he roped other pae in. Today, though, he was not attempting to do anything of the sort. Instead, he was sitting on the edge of the cliff, incredibly nonchalant and without a care, swinging his legs back and forth. Next to him was a large pile of rocks. He picked up a rock. He chucked it off the cliff and watched it as it disappeared towards the water below. He picked up a rock. He chucked it off the cliff and watched as it disappeared towards the water below... As one does repeatedly.

So last time...didn't go well.
Understatement. He threw a chunk of TREE at her. The male was...she didn't even know what he was. Completely insane was the only term she could think of. But she came back again. And again.
Why? She hated him, he hated her. Why did she try so hard? Her hand tightened on the handle of her basket. Goddesses! Some pae had to knock some sense into her. This was so embarrassing. As the trees fell away to the little clearing before the cliff, Cressida stopped. There he was. Was he ever anywhere else? Did he even have friends?
Doubtfully. He probably preferred it that way. She took a deep breath. "I'd knock but there's no door so...I'm here." She could write poetry.

When she spoke, he didn't even glance over his shoulder, simply picking up a rock, and chucking it below. "And Green returns again, I see, much like a lost pet who just wants to find their way back to warmth." That sounded surprisingly flat, perhaps, compared to the usual sing-song tone he tended to take with her. And perhaps a little condescending. He glanced over his shoulder now, taking in the woman behind him. The Green Woman with Antennae that snapped like Monsters was very familiar to him by now, especially since she kept coming back despite her own mind telling her she probably should knock it off. After all, he had thrown a stick at her for absolutely no reason at all. That was someone who could probably qualify as "not safe" and also possibly "off their rocker." That moniker was likely supported by the fact he continued hurling the small rocks off the cliff. It was impossible to actually tell if they were hitting anything that could feel it, but would he really care if they did? "And why does Green return to The Tree? It is most curious, I wonder."

"I see you're just as warm as ever." As warm and cuddly as a shark. She sighed when he glanced over his shoulder to her, and started walking forward.
"Tell me Okeanos, does any other pae on the island visit you? Or am I the only one with the fortitude to keep coming back?" It was a question that occasionally popped up in her mind. Surely with his crass personality no one else would stomach him for more than a conversation.
"I brought food. Figured everyone likes food." She lifted up her little basket to show it to the male. After what her uncle had done, the island had...changed. The pae had changed.
Maybe, just a little bit, she was worried. Just a little.
Maybe.

Considering he was a naiad, the shark analogy was rather suited... If Okeanos was surprised she was prying into the habits of other pae'il around him, he didn't show it, taking it into his stride just as easily as he took everything else into his stride. "I have not known many to attempt to come into my place of dwelling, Green. Not many except for you, anyway!" Perhaps, it was simply because he really didn't care whether he was visited or not. He seemed almost too amused by the fact that she kept coming over and over. "You keep coming, and coming. Am I made out of a material that draws Green things in? The yellow repels, does it not?" Another rock chucked off the cliff. This time, he heard a small clang not too far down, and he laughed, leaning over the cliff just a bit more to get a better view of what the rock had hit. That looked awfully dangerous, but he didn't seem to have any concept of the danger he was putting himself in by even sitting on the edge of the cliff in the first place... At the mention of food, he glanced back to look at her basket, brow lifted in curiosity. "Do you intend to lay a blanket down?" Perhaps he was asking her about a picnic or ... something of the sort.

It was an answer she already knew, but it was still nice to get confirmation. "I honestly couldn't tell you. Though your crazy responses are sometimes amusing." Not so much the throwing of a branch, but perhaps in a few more months it would be?
She watched in half curiosity as he leaned over the cliff edge. Part of her wondered if he'd even care if he did fall off.
The female reached into her basket. "I do prefer sitting on a blanket to the bare dirt." With a smooth pull, out came a smooth animal skin blanket. Whether she or Junior caught the unfortunate creatures stitched together, she didn't know. Perhaps both. The demon set the basket down and flicked the hide out to gently lay upon the ground. "I didn't know what you or any naiad eat. So I grabbed a few things."

Would he care? Perhaps, though it didn't seem likely. After all, he had gone cliff-diving before, into the waters below, but this was definitely a much more precarious position. After all, if he were to fall, he would not have direct control of where he was falling, Perhaps, though, that was part of the fun... He picked up a rock and chucked it again, this time pouting a bit when the rock did not manage to hit anything on the way down. He thought if he looked carefully, he might have saw a small splash below. To observe this better, though splashes were so temporary, he careened over the cliff, looking down for anything that might have given a sign of the fleeting splash-- Okay, maybe he didn't care. Okeanos leaned back into his spot, leaning back exceptionally far so he could tilt his head backwards and stare at Cressida the other way. "Food. Food is what we eat, Green! We are all creatures with two legs, some of us just breathe the waters versus your strong, rough air!" He remained looking at her upside-down. Wouldn't that hurt after a while...? "I choose to remain in your strong, rough air. I must eat food like you, therefore! Though if you have things that wiggled through the water, I am all mouths."

The fact that he kept chucking rocks of course raised the question if he was actually hitting pae down below or other creatures.
If he was however, she didn't really care. She once kicked a child in the face for simply coming within her area. Kids generally annoyed her with their sticky hands and loud incessant chatter.
She watched him out of the corner of her eyes as she placed the food onto the blanket. Chopped cooked deer, two rabbits, some fish, a bowl of garden salad (made with dandelion leaves, nuts, carrots and a fruit sauce dressing) and a few pieces of whole fruit. Most of which she didn't make herself. She did the catching of the critters, sure. But cooking was not her forte. She half suspected she'd catch the salad on fire if she tried.
Her full attention was soon on the naiad however as soon as his words turned...more peculiar than normal. His blue hair spilled onto the ground behind him as he chattered about two legs, rough air -whatever that was- and...wiggled through the water? Did he mean fish? Why didn't he just say fish? It would be so much faster. Surely he knew how to say fish, just as surely as she knew he knew her actual name. Simply refused to say it and keep to the bizarre nickname of Green.
At least, she was fairly sure of that.
Cressida blinked slowly as she merely stared at him for a moment, trying to get over the strangeness of his speech and correctly align what he meant to words she understood. "True. But I don't have fins. Or gills. Fish eat other fish, but I didn't know if that would be considered...cannibalism? I brought red meat though." Red was the word for it, as she liked her meat a touch rare.

When she suggested eating fish for him would be considered cannibalism, his laugh was uproarious. "Think, Green! If we were to dwell in the water, what would be around us but fellow finned and gilled creatures? Unless we were to dine on our own, we eating fish is much like you eating your red meat, there! Or perhaps green meat, as it were." At that possibly unnerving statement, he laughed again. This was when he sat up, swung his legs away from the cliff, and pushed himself a bit closer to the blanket, observing what the odd green one had set down on it. His hard gaze seemed critical, observing the choices in food she laid out much like someone who had the wealth to be choosy about their food--though there couldn't be much wealth where he was, considering he lived in what seemed to be a relatively barren area. He didn't have much in the way of goods sitting around... Completely ignoring the rabbit, deer, and salad, Okeanos' hand suddenly snapped for the fish, and he snatched some of it for himself, rather unceremoniously snacking on it.

Of course she was surprised by his sudden laughter, her eyebrows lifting slightly. Obviously she thought her comparison made sense else she'd never say it. "My moms one of those....vegetarians? She doesn't eat meat. So you could eat coral...or seaweed...or whatever else grows there."
Did he just insinuate actually eating...her? Was he joking?
She couldn't actually recall him joking at all. Creepy. Her choice in friends was really in question. He definitely wasn't the kind to bring around to ma and pa. They certainly wouldn't approve her hanging around him.
On the other hand, that probably would be funny to see.
Cressida couldn't help but watch him anxiously, wondering if he approved of the food she brought. He should be happy I brought anything. It probably more variety at one place than he was used to. It was more than she was used to, and she had a rather large family in the woods.
He took to the fish! Whether to make a point or really interested in fish was impossible to tell. Especially with Okeanos. "My brother caught those this morning, so they're fresh." She took a hunk of deer meat and rather viciously tore into it for a mouthful.
Utensils? Napkins? Never occured even once to the demon.

At the return insinuation that he could eat seaweed or coral, Okeanos laughed again. Clearly, eating seaweed or coral were not really options he had ever considered. He was perfectly fine with the fish he had taken, and the plate he pilfered from her basket. Then he watched as she unceremoniously went from talking about fresh food to tearing into a chunk of red meat she had like an animal. He paused, blinking, before more laughter spilled from his lips. He apparently found her way of eating rather comical. Compared to Cressida, interestingly enough, Okeanos' way of eating was almost peaceful. Sure, he didn't exactly live close to society and was not eating his food that was in any way prim or proper, but he brought the plate to his lips and took small bites by leveraging the plate versus tearing into fish like he was, himself, a shark. He seemed interested enough in the fish, but then, he might have just been making a point. "Curious!" he stated, after swallowing. "You have a fancy basket and a blanket, but yet you eat your food like you could care not for nice finishings!"

Was he laughing at her, or with her? She didn't much care as she swallowed down her mouthful. When it came to hunting and meat she was surprisingly feral, and had little thought about 'prim and proper'. A golden hand slipped up to wipe a bit of juice off her lips. "I don't." Cressida stated rather matter of factly. "My mother on the other hand...insisted." After bringing a variety of kill into the house, it was rather hard to hide the fact she was planning on taking some food outside.
She took another savage bite out of the hunk in her hands. "Have you ever torn into a still living creature with your bare hands or teeth? It's rather...eye opening." Perhaps Okeanos wasn't the only pae with something creepy to say. She recalled her first kill like it was yesterday, her teeth tearing into it's throat like she was a lion.

The statement about her mother caught his attention, and Okeanos quickly filed it away with his growing pile of 'Green Facts' she left with him every time she talked to him. In this case, it was clear that she still lived with her parental figures, and therefore must have had parental figures, unlike him. He was born of a pearl, that much he knew. These land pae were born of different methods. He did not know of a land pae'il that was not born of some sort of parental figure, did he? Okeanos clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth, tapping out a rhythm before suddenly snapping out of his thoughts and staring straight at Cressida. "No." With that, he took another bite out of his fish, not necessarily pursuing the matter further ... well, at least, not immediately. After he swallowed his food, he let out a hearty laugh, following that up with, "When alive, it struggles too much." He ate another bite.

For a moment she thought the male wasn't going to answer her. He was known for doing that on occasion. But as soon as he gave an explanation, she found herself laughing with him.
Well that was odd. She couldn't think of a time that they had laughed together. She finished another bite and wiped her mouth again. "Valid point. I guess you stick to traps for your food needs." This was also probably the nicest conversation they had ever had.
Food did wonders.
In the peace of eating her antennae had simmered down to merely lay on her fiery locks. "The other day, I mentioned you doing whatever you do when you're alone. What exactly do you do?" He was always there, at least whenever she swung by he was. The male confirmed no one else really visited. He couldn't throw rocks at pae all day, right?

Traps? At that explanation for what he did, he snorted to himself, but he didn't seem interested on elaborating on the subject anymore. Okeanos tended to be a rather secretive man, anyway, and besides, she had a point -- he did have a tendency of just randomly not answering any of the questions she gave him for what seemed to be no explicable reason. But then, was anything all that explicable about Okeanos' continued behaviours towards the green demon? It was probably the nicest conversation they had with each other, in the sense it was the one that induced the least amount of anger from Cressida. Perhaps the food had assauged Okeanos for the moment, or perhaps he just didn't feel like chucking sticks in her direction quite yet (because she was amusing him, perhaps, with how much he kept laughing). To call the conversation necessarily nice was not exactly the most proper descriptor, considering how dark Okeanos' particular lines kept running... At the question to his habits, Okeanos did not respond immediately, but this time did not have the excuse of chewing, instead simply staring at her. It might be suspected this hit some kind of nerve, but instead he replied, "What I do is a variety of things. I am a naiad." That was probably as vague as it could get.
