Chailee:
"This is what I get for waiting until the last minute to work on a project." Chailee huffed as she walked around the science museum. Science wasn't one of her favorite subjects seeing as she was more of the artsy type. Music, theatre, and art class were more her areas of interest, but here she was roaming the science museum trying to think of an interesting topic for her Earth Science class. The paper had been assigned last week, and it only needed to be two pages, but it was required that they get some of their research from the museum itself and not just online sources. Since when were online sources not good enough? She sighed as she looked at a glass case holding some sort of fish. "Ugh, I don't know what to do. I may not like the class much but the last thing I want to write about is volcanoes or lava. I feel like everyone is going to be writing about that." She looked down at her notebook which had just a few nonsense scribbles in it. "At this rate I'll never even start the paper."
Rose:
Rose was elbow deep in her inten work. She loved every second of this job, even if it wasn't paying her with anything but skills she needed and deep, rich resources for her curiosities. The long haired girl wore jeans today that hugged her waist, and a shirt that was a bit over sized but didn't swallow her up. Lilac eyes looked about the halls as she carried a stack of paperwork down to the offices to take inventory and what not. As it happened, she heard someone talking about volcanoes and blinked a little more. Interesting.
Shuffling herself to the office quickly, she informed her boss she was going to take her lunch break a little early and then wandered back to find this bright hared girl again.
"Did you... need hep with anything? You look a little lost..."
Chailee:
Chailee jumped a bit at the question. She had been lost in her own little world of indecision and fret and had no idea that anyone had even approached her.
"Oh! Sorry, I didn't notice you." She adjusted the skirt to her uniform after picking up the notebook and pencil she had dropped. "Um, well, I have to do a project for my Earth Science class and I have no idea what to write about." She laughed a bit at herself. "I guess you could say science isn't my best subject so it's not overly interesting to me but I still want to do well in the class." She paused for a moment as she finally registered what the girl in front of her was wearing. "Um, do you work here? She looked for a name tag but didn't see anything.
Rose:
Rose just waited patiently for the girl to notice her and get situated before letting out a soft noise. Earth Science was one of her favorite things. With a low noise, Rose put her hand to her chin and tapped with a finger.
"I.. do. I'm an intern, a student at Crystal Academy." There was a smile on her lips before she put her hands behind her back. "...Are you interested in anything about the Earth at all? If you are, I can help you expand on that subject. Papers like this are easier if you at least like what you're witing about."
Chailee:
"Oh! Then maybe you -can- help!" Chailee's attitude perked right up as she paused for a moment to contemplate the question. "Um...well, I remember reading about the earth's soil and the types of minerals and all that can be formed in it." She tapped her chin with her pencil as she thought. "That's the only bit I can say I was somewhat interested in. All the different rocks and crystals that can get formed in the ground is actually pretty neat." She smiled. "I guess I could narrow it down to maybe a specific mineral or crystal? Or maybe a small section of Earth where only certain types of stones are found?" Really Chailee had no idea if a paper like that would be remotely interesting to read let a lone a viable topic.
Rose:
"That's... still very broad." Rose gave a soft laugh and just shrugged quietly. "I would narrow it down to a specific mineral or crystal, yes. Then you can explore how it formed, what conditions, the soil.." She sighed wistfully for a moment and pushed her bangs out of her face before thinking a moment.
"...We have some crystal formations. Follow me. Unfortunately it's quartz and geodes, but they're still pretty and fun to learn about." Rose wandered off, small heels clicking behind her before she turned to make sure the other was following her. "I'm Rose, by the way. Roslynn Rainwater."
Chailee:
Chailee followed after her, now, saviour as Rose led her through the museum to what will probably be the exact display she'd need to complete her paper. ""Oh! I am Chailee Sterling! Thank you so much for helping me! I would have been wandering around the museum for another hour or two before admitting defeat." Truthfully she couldn't remember exactly what quartz or geodes were. Wait...quartz was a crystal right? Ok, maybe she hadn't forgotten everything she had learned.
"You seem rather interested about the topic. Do you like Earth Science? Is that your area of specialty or are you just studying science in general right now?"
Rose:
"I admit, the subject of earth science is rather overwhelming, but it can be navigated." With her attitude it was easy to forget Rose was still in school herself. Her long hair waved behind her in a similar manner to a cat tail before she paused in her step and hummed. "I'm more in love with space than Earth... But it's a close second." There was an actual giggle leaving her before she turned down a hallway. "We're almost there." Rose led her to a medium sized room where there were a few good sized displays of the crystals and geodes they had to offer. Some were behind glass, some you could hold and look around.
"Now, the displays I'll be showing you have information on the crystals, and there's pamphlets and booklets to help if you have more questions... Uhm.. I'm still learning about this stuff too, but I can probably help you look up more information if you have questions that aren't in those?"
Chailee:
"Space science?" Chailee wrinkled her nose. "I never was interestedmuch in space science. I mean, we haven't studied it much past the planets and a few comets but it seems so...empty out there. Planets with no other life on them and rocks that just float around space doesn't seem that interesting." Now Chailee wasn't really putting the subject down. She knew that space science was probably pretty important since there was a whole government branch dedicated to it. She just didn't really understand the fascination. Maybe if there had been proven life out there or -something- she'd be more intrigued.
As they entered the exhibit Chailee looked around with wide eyes at the different types crystals and other shinning minerals. "I bet you know more than I do about the subject though." She said as she gently picked up a geode with a multitude of tiny purple crystals inside of it. "Wow, these are so pretty!" She giggled as she carefully put it back and peered into a glass case that had a fairly large quartz inside of it. She promptly reached over and grabbed one of the pamphlets available. "Um, if you don't mind, I would love some extra help. I mean, I am sure my teacher would like the fact that I had an intern here help me with my research. I don't think she cares much for internet research."
Rose:
She laughed again and just shrugged. Everyone had their favorite subjects, Rose's happened to be space and stars because everything was created in space. Literally. But some people weren't interested in things they'd never get to touch, and she could understand. "Oh, don't worry, it's fine. I understand the lack of appeal for a lot of people."
"Mm. Geodes are great. You never know what you're going to find until you crack one open. You can actually buy geodes at a lot of places online for fairly cheap. I have one or two in my bedroom." She wandered over to some of the different colored quartz they had on the table. "Quartz here, comes in so many different colors naturally. It's really pretty and very common from what I understand." Then Chailee asked if she'd help and Rose glanced at the watch around her wrist. "I have a short day today so if you're willing to come back in an hour or even tomorrow! I have tomorrow off."
Chailee:
"Oh, so you never know what you'll get until you crack them open then?" Chailee commented on the Geodes. She guess she could grew to like them more if they all looked so pretty on the inside.
"I think I like crystals better. They're so pretty and you can make them into jewelry! I know I've seen crystal jewelry before and it's always eye catching." Chailee enjoyed her fashion accessories and something that could be made into jewelry had a very good chance of gaining her interest.
"Oh um. Well as much as I'd love to come back tomorrow to work on it with you the paper is actually due tomorrow." She rubbed the back of her head, messing up her curls even more than they naturally were. "I uh, waited until the last minute. I mean, I usually work better under pressure when it comes to school work but...yea..." She looked at Rose sheepishly. "I can come back in an hour, but I don't want to ruin any plans you may have. I am sure I could get by with what I have here." Secretly Chailee was hoping the older girl would be willing. She was taking a liking to Rose and wouldn't have minded chatting with her some more.
Rose:
Ah, putting school work off to the last minute. Rose just smiled at that and shrugged. She had to get her work in on time otherwise she jeopardized her scholarship to Crystal Academy. Still, she wished she could put things off.
"Well if you come back in an hour we can do some research, not a problem at all." She'd be hungry by then, but Rose was used to skipping meals because of work. "I can meet you here in this room." With very l little effort, Rose winked at her and then pushed her shirt right again. "But for now, I have to jet otherwise I'm late. Maybe I can scarf down my sandwich in time." With that, Rose turned toward the door and took off at a jog. "See you later, Chailee!"
