So much had happened since the war, and it felt almost surreal to be sitting in the forest of Jahaur his soul linker beads in hand as he meditated. Cross legged he sat on a raised part of the earth that he had made using his magic. Despite becoming less likely to run screaming by an insect appearance he still found them horrible and the memory of the dretch was still firmly etched into his brain.

What a terrible and scary creature....it stood on two legs but in every way looked like a insect. They plagued him all his life, when he was younger they were not real but obviously the illusion was enough to summon the real thing to hunt him down. Takoda was still uneasy with what he had done back in Neued, despite the fact it was a kill or be killed situation it wasn't in his nature to destroy. It made him feel like a stranger in his own body and with the war over he had many things he had to think through.

With Korra quickly growing he knew it was only going to be a matter of time before she would probably want to leave to find her real family. It made his heart ache...and he felt rather out of joint with himself. He selfishly wanted to keep Korra to himself and Jacinthus but it wasn't right...

Sighing he felt that his meditation wasn't getting him anywhere and he opened his eyes and pondered what to do.

Teiluj skirted playfully in and out of the branches of the forest. She had been given permission to go and play as long as Pacju remained by her side. She had reluctantly agreed, knowing full well that Pacju preferred her mothers presence of her own. Which made it easier to slip out of the watchful eyes of the radaku.

Her bird followed up in the trees, more desperate to get to the sunlight above. Looking back towards the direction she had last seen Pacju Teiluj smiled. Maybe one day, her mothers pet would have babies of it's own and she could claim one of those for herself. Oh how she wanted a Radaku like her mother. The perfect companion in her mind. That wasn't to say she didn't like the bird her mother had given her. Just that she liked the idea of something large enough that could be her friend and her friend alone.

She was starting to become selfish that way. After home tree had been burnt to the ground Maya was now spending most of the day either traveling in search of a new tree or carving in one hoping to create another to her liking.

Giggling as Starline settled on her shoulder and nuzzled behind her ear. "Cut that out, woah" Flicking her hand to dislodge the stubborn bird, and failing. Teiluj stumbled over a root. Rolling into the a clearing the youngling paused with shock. She wasn't easily detoured from her desire to roam but this time there was a strange shifter man sitting on something unnatural beneith him.

Well it wasn't to say it wasn't natural as in part of the earth. But she was sure she hadn't seen that there before with another ontop of it. It didn't help her situation she hadn't been exactly quiet either. Her face flushed with embarrassment. Her mother would be scolding her right now.

The shifter was easily startled and having the young girls sudden appearance it caused him to jump slightly. Though he didn't leave his seat he felt that part of the raised earth crumble away as his weight shifted. Sighing he collected his thoughts and offered the small youngling a kind smile.

"Are you alright?" He inquired in his soft tone moving to stand and then with a wave of his hand forced the earth back into the ground. Trying to make it return to the state it was before he had come there. "I know I don't look like it but I am quite skilled in the art of healing. Is anything hurt?" The concern in his voice was apparent though he didn't want to scare the young girl away she stopped several feet in front of her, noting her interesting look and wondering where her mother or father were.

Teiluj started up with big eyes as she watched the shifter work magic on the earth. She had heard of others being able to do that. Maya had told her many stories regarding the other races. Something about needing to know how to tell them apart and if they would be friend or foe. That and she was told to distrust everyone, especially those of pure blood, they were likely to want to kill her instead of help.

That however didn't seem to be the case with the shifter in front of her. Picking herself stubbornly off the ground, Teiluj shivered and pursed her lips. If she so much as screamed maybe she would be close enough for her mother to hear. Rustling in the trees drew Teiluj's attention before she turned back towards the other one.

She had not met a shifter before, unless she counted part of herself. She'd certainly met herself. Did that count? Probably not.

Taking a step defensively back Teiluj began to speak. "You're not going to hurt me?"

Takoda pondered a moment at the girls words, she seemed rather nervous and by all rights she should be. He was a stranger, and a man. Stranger danger was probably something that her parents had taught her and it was a smart idea. So he didn't proceed closer as he didn't want to scare her off, just on the off chance she was hurt.

"No, I won't hurt you. I have a little one about the same age as you, her name is Korra." He managed after a moment rubbing with his thumb over the beads that he held in one hand. "Would you like to sit for a bit? Where are your parents little one?" Takoda pressed after a moment looking to where he had made the earth chair moments ago dissapear and giving a slight shrug as he raised a hand to then create another one for himself and then one for the little girl.

Moving he went to sit on it carefully, cross legged again looking as if he could return to meditation at any moment.

The youngling watched the shifter for a moment. Unsure just how to react. Feeling a slight moist pressure in her hand Teiluj jumped slightly. "Pacju! You scared me! Don't scare me. It's bad." The youngling attempted to scold the Radaku as Pacju moved to sit on her haunches.

Giving a soft whine as if to appease the girl Pacju continued to watch Takoda. It had been a while but the beast never forgot the scent of Maya's 'friends' so the youngling was more than safe here for now anyway. Yawning she shifted away from the clearing, to a more secluded place in the shrubs to settle down for a calmer nap.

Teiluj's stood there further dumbfounded as she watched Takoda work his magic some more. Having been told there was a youngling her age hadn't even reached her mind in the amazement of what she was seeing. A soft 'woah' escaped her lips as she moved tentatively towards the smaller pile. Glancing back frequently at Pacju just to make sure it was ok. The creature was a Radaku after all and had been known to attack strangers. Was she sick?

The thought was abandoned as quickly as it had appeared in the younglings mind. She was far more interested in the moving earth. She wanted to touch it, to see if it was alive. "Was that magic? You have magic?"

Takoda noted the addition of the radaku, ready to protect the child if he needed but found that the animal seemed to know the girl and vice versa. There was a moment where he wondered if he knew this animal for it seemed familiar but he couldn't remember where from. Giving a smile at hearing her 'woah' he gave a small laugh.

"You can sit down if you like. I promise that it won't go back into the ground. " Takoda mentioned as he gestured to the other smaller mound of earth he had created for the girl to sit upon. It looked as if this was her first exposure to magic, which seemed a bit odd considering how she looked like her parents were mixed.

"Is this your first time seeing magic?" Came the question finally as he rubbed a thumb over the beads on his neck.

The younglings eyes grew wide with wonder as she poked the mound. Waiting a moment to see if it would collapse before she clambered up to sit on the top. Giggling with excitement as she looked back up at Takoda with a large grin. Nodding fervently to his question.

"Mama can't use magic, just a bow. She tells me all these stories of casters she knows. Like this one shifter who's afraid of bugs and how she had to save him." Her hands moved in a fluid motion as if she were reciting a bed time story. "Or this other one leaf guy who she met during her travels. OH! And then there was this other one. Who she says seemed like me... but wasn't like me. She says I'll understand what that means one day."

She paused to check to see if the shifter with her was listening to her. "She says there are many places besides the trees. She said if I wanted to leave in search of somewhere else to live we could go. But I don't want to travel outside the trees. It makes Mama sad when she nears the edge."

Poking nervously at the mound of earth she was sitting on, Teiluj glanced back towards the pale Radaku. Pacju didn't seem to have moved much, and she knew if her mother were to call the Radaku back, or start searching for her. Then Pacju would react very quickly, perhaps her mother was more distracted then she had ever been before.

Takoda smiled listening to the little girl and all the stories she had to tell, it made him stiffen a bit a bit in surprise to hear her mention about 'a shifter afraid of bugs', as that fit him perfectly to a T. Wait... Takoda was positive he had never met this youngling but her mother...

How long ago had it been? He wracked his brain trying to summon up a name and face, but sadly there had been too much going on resently. With the most recent war finally settling down and his abilities being developed as a soul linker, plus raising his own little girl, who really wasn't his....

"The edge?" Takoda thought a moment as it was funny how in his own life he always lived near the edge of the forest to try and minimize the encounters with bugs. "You know I was afraid of Jahaur when I was young...afraid of the insects here. When my parents died we were living on the edge of the forest...I could take you there sometime, if your mother consents
