Erahn was not sick, not at all, and the little boy refused to be cooped up in his dorm room. So, he snuck out the window with his chalkboard, a violin, and some sheet music to go practice and do whatever he wanted, stuffed nose be damned. He wasn't a particularly nimble kid, but he was nimble enough to get through the fall with a few bruises and soreness, and still get back on his feet and scurry off, no permanent harm done.

He slipped into the city, not caring who saw him, even if grandma was one of them. Erahn was making a point. He did as he wanted, and nobody – nobody – had the right to tell him what to do when he didn't want to do it. Screw them.

So, finding a fountain, he sat on the stone ridge, took out his sheet music, took out his violin, and began to tune it, discordant at first, and then better as he re-aligned it with his desires. And then, he began to play a common tune, gracing the square with music...

She had been here for awhile now, but it seemed like she was still getting use to things. Like for instance, this pathetic attempt at a stream. Saedaisti stared with a frown on her face at the water trickling down from the top into several basins below. It was a sad, pathetic far cry from the free streams she'd known around her home. How could these people live like this and still call themselves educated? If this was what learning brought her, then she'd rather stay ignorant all her life!

With all the noise these people made, Sae often wondered how they could hear anything. She herself felt often blinded by sound. People talking non-stop, conversations running right over each other. Young kids screaming, animals making their sounds. It was enough to make her want to clap her hands over her ears. When a discordant sound filled the square, Sae cast an irritated look at the boy who'd sat on the fountain with whatever thing was making it. Thankfully the sound did improve some. Not that anyone else seemed to notice.

Era was too busy with his violin to notice anybody, or care what they thought. As he got into the melody, he closed his eyes and just... moved. It was not a complex melody, but he played it well... and of course he did, it was his only voice, and they had better like it.

For a moment, he was not a horrible brat. He wasn't even him. There was only music.

She started to feel annoyed at the boy. He didn't care what anyone else thought of his noise, or ask if they wanted to hear it. He just added his babble to rest. Finally she couldn't take it anymore. The young girl strolled over and tapped him on the shoulder.

"Would you stop? I was trying to enjoy the fountain." She realized she was probably being just as rude as the boy, but she put it down to still settling in and the new environment irritated her. Not that that was going to stop her now.

Moo?

Erahn twitched, his eyes flying open as he gave the interruption a whithering lavender glare. She was trying to enjoy her fountain? Well could enjoy her fountain, and he could enjoy his music and, honestly, the people and the fountain should be thankful he was gracing them with his melody. Still glaring at the interrupting cow, he finished the tune with his own little lilting variation of the melody, just to spite her.

And then, again out of spite, he began a new melody, a simple one his teacher had composed, and proceeded to play it in an exceedingly complicated way. He gave her a smirk and a defiant look as he ran his bow over the strings.

Just try to stop him.

I forsee them getting along wonderfully. cat_sweatdrop

Too much bloody noise. She returned him withering lavender glare for scorching lavender glare. Clearly he wasn't one to take a hint. Typical city dweller as she was finding.

"My papa could play it better," Sae cast a final taunt at him, just for spite, then turned on her heal and stalked away. Who needed this stupid fountain. She was going to look for someplace that wasn't bustling and relatively quiet. He could play his damn music on all the other deaf ears who didn't care he sounded like squalling cats.

Why had she agreed to come here? All she wanted was her peaceful forests, and quietly babbling brooks. To be able to sneak quietly and see the young animals waiting for their mothers to return.

Just swimmingly. 100 more words and this counts as a rp for you. Want another XDDD

Oh Era would have loved to shout insults at her. He would have loved to call her all sorts of things. But, alas, he could not. He could have just let her leave her to his music, but no. She'd insulted his talent, his monumental talent, and training, and ability and passion. He stopped at a dischordant shriek that he wasn't particularly proud of and, grabbing up his chalk and chalkboard ran up to her, scribbling frantically as he shoved her in the back. He would have the last word.

/And you're a fat cow/

Said the chalkboard in hasty but clear scrawl as she turned around.

Already her thoughts had turned from the annoying boy as she walked away and tried to figure out a better spot to go. She wanted something secluded, without being in her room in the dorm. That place just felt claustrophobic unless she was sleeping. A sudden shove into her back nearly sent her sprawling. Her arms windmilled as she regained her balance. Sae whirled with her eyes narrowed in anger. This boy was.....

Sloppy words.

She was sure she'd turned beet red in anger. Before she could stop herself a resounding sound of a well placed slap echoed the square. "My papa has better manner too! You're nothing but a mute dog!" She didn't know why he was writing his words, and right now she didn't care. Tears were threatening to spill from her eyes, but she wouldn't let them. Not in front of him. Resisting the urge to give him another one Saedaisti turned and ran from the square.

You can finish this one and start the next one. It counts towards your rps now, so make sure you log it and do a response thing for it in your journal once thats set up.

Erahn glared at her as she ran, livid, the skin of his cheek stinging painfully. He could run after her, and he wanted to, to tell her that she was a tonedeaf idiot and that her father was probably a talentless hack who stank of fungus and HE WAS NOT A DOG. But shouting after her was impossible and by the time he could make his body move through his rage, she was lost in the crowd.

He glared in her direction, and then he glared at the fountain and the discarded violin. Finally, he turned away, picking up the violin and putting it away in its case. He didn't even want to play anymore. Annoyed, and having nowhere else to go, he trudged back to the dormitories.

He was in trouble, obviously, and that only made the day more sour, but they say that misery breeds inspiration, and when the time came to do his music homework, he set himself to it with such ferocity, that he finished early and was able to go to bed without laying awake and thinking for hours on end.

No, he fell into a deep sleep. Rage, after all, was exhausting, and he was reasonably certain he would never see that girl again...

How wrong he was.
