"Yeah... look, I don't know when the big day is, you can never tell with these two," Roch says to a tough looking group of guys. He's got a cighoulette hanging from his lips, and FAR more tattoos than he left with. His mohawk is shorter, and only the tips are still purple. "I'll call you when I'm ready to go on the road again--take care of Maxie, she's a decent guitarist but we're still working on it--"
The group laughs at him and waves him off as they jump into the "tour bus" and ride away. It leaves Roch standing there, a bag slung over his shoulders, his bike unhitched from the rickety looking bus and left behind with him. He looks at his watch, frowning slightly.
Danny was supposed to meet him here at the train station. He wonders, though, if the fire demoness has forgotten all about it--or not gotten his text. With the spotty connection on his eyephone over the past few months, that wouldn't be a surprise.
His best friends are getting married, huh?

Danny was late because Danny had never been on time once in her life and to be honest she'd almost forgotten to come at all so it was a blessing that she was there in the first place.
"Roch!" she called from the stairway leading up to the train station. There was a slight crowd due to the influx of people into Halloweentown for Christmastival, so she didn't quite see him at first. "Rooooch I'm heeeeere."

Roch looked up from the phone he'd automatically started goofing off with, and jumped on the nearest bench, looking over the crowd. "Hey!" he said, grinning widely as he jumped off and made his way through the crowd. He hauled the fire demon into his arms, hugging her tightly. "Man, it's been jackin' FOREVER!" he declared dramatically.
Totally ignoring the fact that it was HIS fault he hadn't seen her in so long.

If there was one thing that hadn't changed it was Danny's affinity for hugs. Her arms wrapped around his neck, claws digging slightly into the side of his head, but with affection.
"That's not my fault~" she responded. She detached from the hug to get a good luck at Roch, seeing what parts of him had changed and what hadn't.
Danny had certainly grown up a bit since Roch had left. She was even wearing skinny jeans- real pants. Still in a bikini of course, but now it was covered with a hoodie vest.
"Look look!" she whined, shoving her hand in Roch's face to display the black ring that graced her finger. "Tadah!!"

He stared at it, still grinning. "You're tellin' me Rikki actually bought that?" he asked teasingly. "Congrats, Danny. Can't say I'm that surprised, actually," he admitted. "So when's the wedding?" he asked. "An' d'ya got someone doing music for it?"
If he could get away with doing music, he wouldn't have to talk to certain people, now would he?

Danny took Roch's hand and began tugging him towards the train station. "C'mon it's too crowded here! Let's talk somewhere else. Anywhere in town- you pick!"

He followed, shrugging casually. "Danny, I've been gone for over a year, y'know? I got no CLUE what's in town an' what's not. You can pick someplace random, I'm cool with it--just no lavas or pits a'fire."
He felt even more out of place here, he realized belatedly. Here two of his best buds were getting married and he was--
Well... he was where he was. Yeah. "Maybe someplace with food?" he offered. "All y'can eat is good!"

Danny had chattered on the hearse-cab ride to the restaurant happily and eventually they were seated at a table across from each other. "See? Not a ton's changed. We still have the same old buffets and stuff!"
The fire demon had happily chosen a burger and fries to begin with that she was now munching on. "So bring on the questions!"

"Well..." Roch said before gulping down a plateful of spaghetti and eyeballs, "what about creeple? How's everyone doing?" he asked, motioning for the next plate to be served. It looked like he was still a pretty big glutton. "Seen the old gang lately?"

"Hmmm. Well they're not really an old gang since we're all still together except you," Danny responded, tapping her chin. "Rikki is good! He's really happy. We're both working on our passports." And not much else, lazy bastards. "
Amphi's good!!! She's working at a flower shop and she looks so pretty with all the flowers." Danny was positively sparkling as she described her mermaid friend. Rikki's real competition was Amphi. "She's going to be the best woman!"
Danny bit into a fry and talked with her mouth full. "Gene's around- I think she's opening a bakery with Xiu or something?? I dunno." She waved her hand. "Who else?"

He got stuck on the Amphi part. Old, old memories came rushing back to him and he suddenly felt like a dumbass all over again. "Yeah... Amphi... right..." he said slowly. Sure things had changed while he was running all over Halloween. His mind flashed back, trying to picture Amphi's face--
A different face flashed in front of his eyes, leaving him looking thoughtful. "Yeah... Danny... y'realize me an' Amphi didn't... end well, dontcha?" he asked instead, in a surprisingly calm tone.

Danny raised an eyebrow. "S'been like two years! Get over it!" Danny crossed her arms. "She's the best woman forever and ever and you can't stop me, so there."
She set her burger on fire and bit into it, quite the display had it not been mundane in Halloween. "I'd marry her too if Rikki would let me!"

He snorted and chowed down, shrugging the past off. Things had changed while he ran off--a lot. "So Xiu has a shop now?" he asked, going back to what she'd mentioned earlier. "Might haveta check in on her before I skip out again. Have y'seen Ren? Or Jove?" he asked. He didn't know if Danny had gotten close to the boils, but he missed them. "What about Nahm?" he asked.
Somehow he still managed to eat enough to shock the people around them all during this conversation. He pulled to a stop, though, leaning back in his chair and grabbing his choke. He downed the bottle.

"I dunno, I think so. I don't remember if she got it or not." Danny shrugged. She certainly adored Xiu but the two girls were so different that they'd never been particularly close.
She didn't know about Ren, Jove or Nahm either- more people that had simply gotten lost as time went on. She shrugged to them too. "You gotta keep up with your own friends!" she responded, almost scolding him had it not been Danny being the one saying it.
She leaned back and said, "What about you? What was so great that you left me forever and ever?"

He thought about it for a moment. "No school, no hunters, nothin' but the open road an' music," he said finally. And sexy ghouls, but he didn't mention that part. "I was about t'hang myself here, Danny. Close t'burnin' out entirely. I couldn't handle it. Y'might notta noticed, but YOU'RE one of the very few reasons I'd be willin' t'come back for, and even then I don't plan on stayin' that long."
