One day Claude would find a neatly written piece of paper on her door. The script was cursive and so slanted it was almost illegible. It read:Quote: Please join us for a Christmas Brunch.
Address: 743 in the Towns. It is the only intact house for miles. You would have to be an imbecile to miss it.
Happy Holidays.

She came back from shooting (and missing) a dummy out in the training field to the note. Claude snatched it off her door and glanced down at it. It took a moment to decipher what was written, but it'd be the start of what was to be a very interesting day. It almost felt like the day of reckoning. She had heard of this Ami, and recalled with crystal clarity what Lex had said about her, and just in a few short sentences, it showed. Claude also had to snort with amusement. This note, written by Ami, was signed Alexei... that b*****d was so whipped, and this screamed that they pretty much seemed like a married couple... Hrm. She also remembered that ring. Well then...it was finally time to meet this person who had enchanted her brother so thoroughly. The trainee went into her room and took the time to get ready. It was the 'holidays' and a get together, after all. A nice cream tunic shirt, nice black pants and boots, and a large red shawl scarf to top it off. She had even bought somethings for them when she went off island. Thus, she showed up at the only intact house for miles fresh and presentable and with her gift bag in hand. She knocked on the door, and waited. chiickadee OMG BEST SURPRISE EVER seeing this totally made my day fkjlwkjefkjwlelkw you're the best <333

Lex gave Ami the most deadpan of looks when she's originally written the invitation. "Alexei. Why would you use Alexei? Claudia never calls me that." He sighed, holding his face in the palm of his right hand. As if his younger sister didn't already think of Lex as being more whipped than a race horse...
---
The holidays were pleasant enough in Lex's mind, full of nice coffee and cheer and plenty of gifts in which he aimed to make himself seem above other gift givers. He'd put on a crisp black suit vest, a red striped shirt, and a plain green tie for the day, along with black pants nearly identical to Claude's and black Italian leather shoes. Not quite the nines, but it was just Ami and his sister. Much to Ami's chagrin, Lex had been playing soft Christmas music in the background while setting up brunch and humming along to the carols. The knock broke his train of festive cheer, and the door was quickly opened by the grinning man.
"Merry Christmas, Claude." He cooed to the girl, pecking both her cheeks and ushering her into the door.

" Alexei. Merry Christmas." A small smirk pulled at her lips. The younger sibling returned the pecks, planting one on his opposite cheeks as he planted them on hers. She stepped into the house, and slid off her boots with one hand, placing them by the door. She then straightened, and turned back towards her brother, her smirk pulling wider. "Where's your jockey?"

"Though crudely put, that would be me I assume," Ami responded in her New York paced, monotonous voice. She was very short compared to the two giants in the room, but her irritable attitude more than enough compensated to allow her quite the presence when she entered the room from the kitchen doorway. Unlike Lex and Claude she had nothing festive on, but was looking relatively wintery nonetheless.
More ironic was that she had specifically chosen not to match Lex.
She would have looked stunning had there not been such a bored, irritable look on her face. There was a specific look of "what an ugly shawl" scrawled across her face, but all she said was a polite, "Merry Christmas, Claude." She gestured to the living room wherein their small, very real Christmas tree was stood. It was almost eerie how perfect everything looked; each ornament was carefully put in place, every limb of the tree was trimmed to perfection. Ami wasn't exactly a poster child for Christmas spirit, but she took Christmas decorating very, very seriously.
"Care to sit?" she asked, patting the cream white couch that sat facing the tree. "I'm sure we have much to talk about." A casual look to Claude and then to Lex, as though to say about the two of you, more like.xlucyal post order don't matter to me = v =/ <33

Lex slightly, only very slightly, flinched when Ami entered the room and began speaking. Already, the two were at odds with each other. He sighed quietly, walking over to their cream couch and sitting between the two women, keeping his gaze from either of them and staring down their perfect tree put together by his nearly perfect Ami. Nearly perfect, because she got along with no one - not even his dear Claude.
"Well... where would you want to start?" Lex replied, shoving the look back at Ami as if to say "if you want to interview us, then you ask the questions."
It wasn't as though Lex hadn't expected the third degree from either of them, but he had hoped that Ami would at least let them get through brunch before turning the heat up. The taller of the giant siblings could only imagine the level off sass that would radiate from his sister.

She got her first look and impression of the jockey, and she gaze briefly slid back to her brother. Her eyes flashed in amusement and anticipation. So it began. Ami had a very strong presence, and it wasn't the warmth and energy that Lex radiated...but the complete opposite. She was amused. Opposites really do attract, and of course Lex would end up with someone like her. Claude's usual equally bored expression was tinted with a strong undercurrent of amusement and curiosity to Ami. It showed in the small upward quirk in the corner of her lips, even with the dissing of her shawl scarf. "Merry Christmas, Ami." Claude returned, polite, but her amusement creeping into her tone. "So nice to finally meet you...Lex's told me a lot about you." Enough that I know what to expect. She also didn't let her get by with only a simple and polite hello. Claude moved over to the vertically challenged and leaned, only to peck her once on each cheek. "Since we're going to be sisters." But also to be a pest. She then made her way to the living room, and the look of what tacky furniture flicked across her face. Claude did not sit on the sofa with the two of them though, and instead settled into a big antique arm chair across from them. She crossed her legs, and rested her elbows on the arms of the chair, pressing her finger tips together as she regarded the two of them, waiting.

"Only good things, I should hope." Lex should have known by now that Ami had no chill. There was no "turning up the heat" because Ami was always at a quiet, raging boil. A boil that was only made more real when Claude dared to touch her without her strict verbal permission. Yet she moved to the living room in silence, biding her time.
There was a slight look of despair as Claude put her feet on the very expensive antique chair, but said nothing.
Then the second comment came and there was almost a sick sort of satisfaction on Ami's face as she said, "No dear Claude, we shall always remain the most unlikely of friends." Then the tea kettle she'd set on minutes ago began to whistle and Ami stood up. It was very strange watching Ami be such a pinnacle of daintiness when the exact same life hunter had no problem ripping a minipet in half with scalpels.
Or Claude, provided the context.
"I'll get that. You two catch up. Do you have any tea preference, Claude?" It was only polite.

Unlike Claudia, Lex held no amusement towards the situation - and any sense of Ami's daintiness was far from ever being a part of the man. He was composed, certainly, graceful and often moved like mercury - but today, Alexei Jamil was the picture of a haggard man. Perfect stubble, perfect hair, perfect, creaseless clothing, all these things could not mask the faded, drained look in his grey eyes. This was going to be a very, very long Christmas.
When Ami had made her temporary exit, Lex cleared his throat to get his sister's attention. He narrowed his eyes, no smile or smirk on his face, and shook his head very slowly whist pointing to his left index finger. No ring, not even a vestigial rim of lighter skin where such a ring would have been.
"So, Claude, how many missions have you been on? You're making connections, I hope." Lex started off the conversation with a nearly aloof air, as if he were only asking for the sake of formality. Truth be told, he was only talking so Ami wouldn't come in and start with her interviewing. He'd realized, in the brief conversation between his girlfriend and his sister, that having Ami as the one posing questions was a very terrible idea. "You have to be wary of the politics here, you know, get in with the right people and don't offend anyone too badly."
Or else she'd end up dead, or maimed. Possibly both.

Claude had a poker face that won her a lot of money even with the chips were down in Vegas, and it held strong as Ami more or less (way too happily, if the woman was capable of it) dropped the bomb. The only thing that gave it away was the ride of a brow that disappeared into her bangs. Claude was silent for a moment before she shook her head a bit. "Ah, well, that's no concern, Ami, I consider you a sister regardless." She replied, "I don't need an object or a contract to tell me otherwise." She glanced at Lex as she spoke, thinking of their sibling bond, despite not being blood related. What she said to Ami though was more to annoy than be genuine. She glanced back at Ami as she got up. "Anything is fine." She watched the Life Huntress leave the room, and her gray eyes immediately slid back to Lex. She had to roll her eyes at the line of questioning coming her way. "Yes, Lex, I'm playing in the sandbox with the other kids as nicely as I can, and I'm not being a nuisance during nap time." Answering any other questions was ignored, and Claude pushed off the tacky arm chair and crossed the small living room towards Lex. She then flopped onto the couch right next to her brother, the side of her leg bumping his. She turned her head towards him and spoke softly. "For someone who seemed passionately in love as he spoke about her some months ago, you're like a battered victim of domestic abuse right now." She then tapped his left hand. "Also what happened here, and why is she so damn chipper about it, and why is that okay with you?"

Lex snorted, sighing as his leg melted into his step sisters'. Ami didn't bother to ask his hot drink order, but she didn't really need to. The conversation between the two women was terse, tense enough to walk on. Lex was almost relieved when his girlfriend left the two of them, and a heavy sigh left his chest.
"So sorry, I'll stop with the droll conversation and move on to the more exciting tidbits." Lex said, heavy sarcasm dropping like lead from his mouth. He disliked admitting the faults in the little sanctum of his relationship with Ami. His shoulders hunched a bit, his left hand drumming along his thigh. God, this was not the kind of conversation he wanted to have. "First, I am not a victim of domestic abuse. I'm just surrounded by two women who can draw their weapons at any moment." He coughed, cracking his knuckles with a small frown. Surely they wouldn't, as Ami had appearances to keep and would hate to wreck and rebuild the house again, and hopefully Claude respected her older brother enough to refrain from wrecking his things.
Looking at his left hand, Lex heaved another sigh, softly. "That's... delicate. A very long story." He muttered something akin to "some tool" under his breath before speaking so that Claude could hear him again. "Ami was engaged to someone, he cheated on her. Marriage is... not a comfortable prospect any longer." Lex explained, trying to be as vague as he could. This was Ami's story to tell, if she even wanted Claude to know about it. "And I'm fine with it, because sometimes you have to compromise or bow out of something you want if it's going to hurt the person you love."
