User ImageSniffing the ground Valdor caught a strange scent. There were many strange scents in this place and he was far from where his master had fallen. Valdor had been brought to this place by his master and had followed the master’s directions without question. Sit, stay, eat, hunt. Valdor knew them all and heeded each one as he had been trained. Still in time the master’s voice had gone silence after the battle. Now Valdor had no master and it was bother by this only a bit. Instinct to hunt and survive on its own were just fine. The bag it had been given to where by its master was still in place and he did nothing to remove it.

For now the strange scent that might well be prey was to tantalizing to pass up. Stalking his way through the vines and undergrowth the sand pattern seemed out of place in Jaunhar’s vegetation. Soon enough there was a scream in the woods when Valdor found the source of the smell and had decided it had indeed been prey. With his hunger sated he decided it was time for a nap. His jaunt lead him a fair distance from his kill in case of other predators and when he was tired of moving he curled up below a tree and slept

User Image Sezarra strode through the forest, a meandering radaku snaking behind her across the trail. Sticking his now here and there where it didn't belong. Silly thing. Walks with Thorvin always took longer then walks without but her father said that if she were to go anywhere it better darn well be with her radaku. He should know he was her father and truth be told she enjoyed her red eyed familiars company, she just sorta resented being told what to do even if it was by her silly overindulgent father. The trip home had tensed him right up. Of course he brought everything he loved with him, so she couldn't begrudge his over protectiveness too much.

Seze leaned down to inspect an odd brown root she had never seen before, it looked like and up rooted spikey ball? Maybe it was attatched to the tree. Perhaps the tree was sick? Hmmm.

Then Thorvin walked up beside her his head cricked awkwardly, but she noticed his nose moving, his nostrils flared and he swiveled his head at her root and growled deeply. A warning, a threat..but there was nothing here that could take a radaku so Sezarra stuck her ground and crossed her arms over her chest in her best momma in charge look and stared at what she assumed was a creature or her pet had gotten into those red mushrooms again. Maybe it was a malformed spitorog or something equally non threatening. He really had to stop eating those mushrooms, he always threw up after.

Red eyes opened to meet red eyes as he assessed the thread level he noticed the hisser had horns and claws though not much of a hide. The other small earthling was so small it must be a young. Where there was young there was more. Standing up Valdor snapped his jaws at the white thing demanding his space. He made no attempt to harm the youngling as there had been no order given. No need to kill what was not a threat when he was not hungry. His tail thumped the ground behind him loudly as his nostrils flared to pick up for other scents beyond those in front of him. He was ready for a command or an attack as he glared down at the hissing white possible menace. Raising a claw his master’s bag was visible for a second before the image was blurred as the claw came down in front of Valdor making a definite mark in the soil with a single step. His focus was on the white beast that had claws still and his tail began a slow weave back and forth behind him as he waited for it to attack him. When it did he would strike and bite down on its exposed neck or side and make it regret disturbing him. A low growl built in his own throat egging the creature on. Back and forth his spiked tail went while he considered simply using his horns and head here and bashing the smaller creature’s skull in.

Sezarra's eyes widened then kept widening as the er thing stood and stood and stood...it was taller then her and taller then Thorvin. And it..he? She ducked...he. Was beautiful! And toothy and scary and beautiful.

Thorvin took one look, got in front of her and pushed.

Rude. Just rude. "Thorvin," she hissed at him.

While his body vibrated with the growl he refused to turn into a bark or roar least it eat them both. This was not something he had dealt with this was a MONSTER. Why couldn't Seze see this, she for her part had that dreamy look in her eye she usually reserved for HIM. Rats, he knew that look that gaze bordering on obsession. This was a predator, if she could not see it he could smell it!

Sezarra caught a flash of the bag and while one half of her conscious headed the warning of her Radaku the other less smart half knew he belonged to someone therefore he (hopefully) hadn't eaten whoever had given him that bag. Using the hidden metal she knew she had she held strong and signaled Thorvin away with a hand signal that she had taught him rescently. Her father didn't even know that she had figured it out. Thorvin dragged his butt for his part but with the obsessive light gone and replaced with that of a dominant he by some miracle listened to her and got out of her way.

She raised her eyes to just below the creatures, dominant over Thorvin but unwilling to challenge the thing directly herself. She held out a hand and calmed her breathing. He belonged to someone. That someone was not here, someone had to help him somehow, what if he were injured? What if she could just bask in his presence a little more? What if he ate her? Well then her Daddy would never forgive her but she would go out the way she should not by sword or spear but by fang and gullet.

As the hissing beast moved away Valdor found himself relaxing ever so slightly. The young earthling was hardly a threat and had no perceivable weaponry. As she held a hand up in supplication he tilted his head looking at it before deciding to investigate. Stepping closer he kept his eye out for the white creature expecting a surprise attack. When none came he sniffed the offered hand and exhaled on the earthling dismissing it. She was very small so doing this involved him craning his next to look at her. The gore from his earlier prey was still very visible on his maw and claws. A single drop of red fell onto the small earthling’s hand but no attack came.

As she was not his master and also not a threat he turned and moved back to his nap spot circling once and double checking that nothing had changed on him, Valdor paced it a few more times fore good measure before turning to face the earthling and promptly laying down. He did not curl up still wanting out keep an eye out for the hisser but as no threat was readily available to dispatch this earthling and her presence no longer mattered. Yawning loudly and then making a chuffing noise as he readjusted his jaw back to a more comfortable position he found himself still being stared at by the youngling. Snorting he cocked his head curious about why it was still around. Shouldn’t its lounge, or whatever the earthling groups called themselves when massed in bulk, take care of it? That other white creature certainly couldn’t be its only source of protection. When Valdor had his master he knew the location of many such places but now Valdor didn’t feel like going back. This place was not as warm as home but it had plenty of game and was fairly interesting.

Good it appeared the beast had accepted her! How wonderful, she smeared the droplet of blood on her face, now she was just like him! Her radaku was giving her a sour look but she didn't care.

She sat down as he did, but she did so on a tree root to watch. When his owner came back she would scold them for leaving such a magnificent creature alone. Anyone...well maybe not anyone could take him but they could have tried! Poor fangy beast...maybe he had a spare one of these she could buy or borrow..maybe trade her soul for. Aysun said he would try to bring her back something amazing and man did this guy ever fit the bill.

Idly she wondered what was in the bag but seeing as it was not moving, it was probably not a baby of this guy and that would be the only thing she would want to see more then the beast himself sooo whatever, here she would wait.

She tilted her head at the chuffing sound. "Are you still hungry? I have some radaku treat in here, I don't know if you will like it but you can try okay?" She dug into her pocket, much to Thorvin's dismay. "Don't give me that look Thor you will get some too."

She recovered the meat that was boiled in fat to make a nice solid cake perfect for taming as she had found. She split it, stood, and presented it in front of the being on a leaf. Then she backed away and fed the rest to Thorvin whos mood seemed to improve somewhat now that he too got attention. She patted him. "We can't not help him. He's obviously alone."

The food offering was interesting. He leaned his neck forward and sniffed it experimentally. It was travel rations. He knew this food kind as it was what his master had often given him on the way here. Snapping it up he rumbled his pleasure and watched as the youngling fed the other half to the little hissing pest. Standing up he moved over toward the pair. Free food and not a threat. He enjoyed this young little earthling. He starred down at the hissing beast and glared firmly at it with his tail thumping against the ground twice. Looking at the human the growling stopped immediately. The message was clear. The earthling was tolerated and he was now curious about her presence more and wanted to investigate but would drive the hisser back once more first.

Once the white beast was a safe distance he circled the little youngling starring her down and took deep breaths memorizing her scent. Leaning his head down he very gently tapped her head to his own in recognition. She could be part of his lounge though he had none other in it. She offered food and was soft and vulnerable. The hisser was still a bit of a threat as he had not seen those claws in action. For now though this earthling was permissible around him with no reprisal. For now at least until she grew and proved herself to a threat to him.

Omg Im having adorable spazms

Seze was delighted when the creature approached her she flattened her palm and sunk her hand down and as she did so Thorvin settled onto his belly, as the great beast stood in front of her. If she could keep a lid on her radaku everything would be okay. It seemed that as the creature had not attacked her yet and she had shared their food that now Thorvin had accepted him as well as not a threat to her at least he probably wasn't so confident about himself but he had laid down when she had told him to. He was such a good radaku.

Sezarra stood before him as he inspected her patiently her heart beating with a hint of fear and a lot of excited fangirl glee. But she held stock still. She blinked when his hard forhead hit hers. She was bemused too, this must be some janarim ritual, thankfully he hadn't done it too hard or they would both have a swirly crystal pattern on their foreheads. She brought her hand up and patted him a bit, hopefully letting him know she accpeted him too. It wasn't everyday one escaped into the jungle and met something that could take on one's parents in a fight and then to make friends with them it was like a dream come true. She was reasonably sure this was a very smart creature and she admired that along with his strength and beauty.

On that note who would leave such a creature alone. "How long have you been out here friend? Did your bonded fall in the battle?" How horrible, but wouldn't the creature have stood over him or something? Who would hide such a wonderful beast from war when it could take out a platoon? So many questions and no answers. "Shall we look around?"

She stepped forward then looked back expectantly at him. Thorvin huffed on the ground then got up and stayed at an respectful distance.

The smaller beast was belly down. Valdor was tempted to roll it and make it show it’s submission. He glared it down for a while before returning to his activities. The earthling was grooming him and touching hm. He bore it for a time and snorted if she stayed in one place a bit too long.

her voice was curious but her words meant little to him. He was out here as long as he was out here. He chuffed softly at the mention of battle. A small keening noise emanated from the back of his throat. It seemed odd from such a large creature but it was the best way he knew to show distress of this kind. The noise stopped after only a moment, but it had been there and even if he kept silent now he would have still showed he had lost. As the earthling moved he watched for a moment until the white beast got up and moved in tandem to her path. Sauntering along on his longer legs it took no time to pass the small earthling. Her pace was slow to him and after a time he looked down and then stopped suddenly making sure he was before her. Kneeling a single shoulder down he waited. The white beast might be fast enough to keep a pace but the little earthling could not. She would simply have to be carried. He would not leave a member of his lounge behind when he knew she was searching for things and he could aid her.

Still she could always walk if she desired though it would take a long time before they found anything worth while beyond the prey he had taken down before. Likely that had been found by scavengers and might well be unrecognizable by now. Perhaps it would be best to avoid that path for now.

Sezarra wondered about that keen, he sounded distressed. She patted him again, wondering at what had caused the sound of pain.

Moving off she was bemused when he passed her, she marveled again at his size in comparison to anything she had seen so far. She almost ran into him when he stopped, she tilted her head curious. Then he leaned down and she grinned so hard it hurt her face. She bowed slightly then gamely clambered up. She was the happiest shifter ever! It took some effort to climb up but nothing she couldn't handle being a tree crawler if a little out of practice. Then she was on his back, it was like a new view being up so high. She grinned at her radaku and pointed down like LOOK hes letting me ride isnt it wonderful!

Skava shook his head and trotted after, he had to admit this was faster and if the janarim was going to eat her he probably would have already, he wondered which of them was faster, this beast had huge strides but was heavy. Skava was built for running. Aw well he hoped the guy didn't take off with his bonded.

The small hand that was gentle and warm was noticed by the rough skin hide of the janarim only due to his training to take commands over the din of battle. He ignored it until she was up atop of him. The hisser keep eying him warily but by now Valdor ignored the beast thinking it’s inferiority no contest to his own might. To him it was an attachment of the earthling he accepted. Moving at an easy jaunt so as not to lose what was certainly an unaccustomed and untried in Valdor’s mind as far as riders go. She was bouncy too. It was the lack of weight while knowing there was a rider that was most discerning to Valdor this made him more cautious than had the rider been an adult. Still he moved at a reasonable pace. The hisser was keeping up easily and could certainly move quickly. More over it was weaving in and out of the plants with an ease that Valdor doubted he could match.

He grunted keeping an eye on it for a moment. In a battle such a lithe creature would be a scout or messenger. Fast agile. Valdor had power and endurance. Not to mention ferocity. He was fairly fast but there were other Janarim that were faster than he. Perhaps the hisser wasn’t as useless as assumed if it could keep watch for enemies on the way.

(Next post the remains? Prey unrecognizable. )

Sezarra did her best to mediate the bouncing but, it was hard having such short little legs, so she clung as best as she could. It was so fast and wonderful up here, no wonder Daddy had wanted to be a rider! Of course this wasn't a radaku but still, it was better, at least for war in Oba. She didn't know how this lovley would do in heavy forest, even the shifters preferred the trees..of course sometimes that was to avoid the radaku down below and that made things just..complicated.

She could see it now, a fantabulous warrrioress riding her Janarim her faithful radaku by her side. Of course she still thought this one might belong to someone so it would be a different janarim but it would still be Thorvin. All the amazing creatures!

Thorvin sighed well the guy definitely wasn't going to eat Seze so he finally relaxed and bounced along following, it was actually really nice to go so fast, he could stretch out and warm up his muscles properly. He sniffed..hmm carrion..

The scent of the dead was rather daunting and so Valdor slowed his pace and finally stopped lower to let his rider, even a temporary one, off safely. Once done he moved forward to check for danger. Had his leftovers been eaten by others he would be sure they were gone from the area and would not eat the little earthling first. Hustling he found the dropping place empty though the remains had been chewed on by more than him clearly. Snapping his jaw open and shut a few times in annoyance he circled the area and finding it clear of danger moved near the remains of his old prey and sat next to it starring at it but making no move to touch it. He glanced to the hisser and the small earthling when they got closer and then looked back at the corpse. There was basically nothing of it left. A few bones could be seen here and there in the carnage but what it was before was clearly an unknown. Valdor looked at the little earthling and shifted his weight sitting waiting to see what she would do.
PostPosted: Mon Jan 05, 2015 8:32 pm

Seze's nose wrinkled, the raw meat was a bit more...ripe then she was used to with the radaku, they usually fed them fresh stuff and she hadn't stumbled upon one of their kills before. She wondered what this creature once was. So she slid off and walked over to the site, looking for clues. Finding nothing she picked up a leg bone and examined it. Could be from an earthing..could be something else, whatever it was it stunk to high sky, blech. She dropped the boned and scouted more, from the lack of clothing she though it was probably an animal. Skava pointed his nose in the air as well but was reluctant to move closer.

Seze looked at the bones, then at Valdor's jaw and wondered why he hadn't cracked the bones in two to get the marrow. She found a rock and placed the leg bone on it, then found another rock to lift and drop on top. The bone cracked and she offered it to Valdor to see if he even liked marrow. It would be an interesting insight for her.

He didn’t even sniff the offending leftovers instead he looked aside and scratched his sales with a claw near his bag. The kill wasn’t fresh enough to have bothered to chew to nothing now, and he had filled himself on it prior. There was no need for it now. He also noticed the little earthling didn’t seem to be hungry for it either. He yawned wide for a moment before shutting his mouth and shaking his head. His nap before had been interrupted by the hisser and the earthling. If she had no interest in the dead prey then he would leave it be. Instead he looked back at the little shifter girl and tried to figure out what she was doing with the foul bits of left over. While she now smelled like the dead thing he began to think grooming might well be the next order of business. The only problem was there was no good patch of sand to roll in or clean water source he knew off. This land was simply full of tedious things and yet what he wanted wasn’t on the list.
