A princess. An actual princess.

The flutter in Edgar's heart was euphoric as he fell backwards onto his bed, hand clutching his chest as if it would somehow contain the feeling. The gesture failed spectacularly, but he didn't mind; a girl like this could justify such intoxicating infatuation.

Though the ideas to woo the princess he'd just become acquainted with were rapidly multiplying in his mind, he intended to wait for a moment that felt absolutely perfect before opting to actively employ any of them. A princess deserved no less than perfection, after all, and he was sure that she would find it well worth any wait.

Rather, he was sure of this until he received a message from Lady Shu that spoke directly to the contrary:

Quote:
I bet she's waiting for her prince, you won't know if you take action? You're a brave prince, aren't you?

It's rude to let the girl wait.

This created a pretty big conflict.

If anything, he didn't want to be rude - he wanted to be chivalrous and dashing and simply irresistible, and a horrendous lack of manners had no place in that. By this new information, that meant acting now. This might have felt encouraging as a possibility, had he not adopted the bold new principle that he would not seek her room until she provided an invitation and her room number.

He really needed to put more thought into the rules he publicly proclaimed.

User Imagence upon a time, in the Kingdom of Deus Ex, a Prince's quest of great love without compare began with some assistance from a very special courier. The Courier Shu was the best of all appointed couriers in this land, which would still have been true if she were not the only appointed courier in this land.

She was brave to take part in this quest, for this quest was one of many risks and many consequences...and many gifts.

The first of these gifts was a dozen white roses, tied with a pink satin ribbon. The roses were radiant with true love, and were very beautiful and very fresh, due to the fact that they had been reclaimed by way of the questing Prince's divine right from a careless gardener in the nearby town. The townfolk were peasants, so the roses had always been his own. The ribbon had always been the Prince's own anyway, which he would never divulge.

Nestled carefully within the magical blooms was a heartfelt confession, handwritten with care on thick parchment fit for royal hands:

It would surely be the first of many gifts to come. Finally, her prince had come. And his name even sounded like a Prince name! Edgar! Oooooh saying it aloud made her wish to swoon. Sent by Shu, Kiki took her gift with a wild scream and a desperate grab. She ran back into her room, fell back onto her bed, and squealed for a good half hour.

The flowers were perfect. Suited for her true Princess self. On top of it all, a profession of love! On parchment! He really was a prince! And he had such a way with words! It made her feel like a babbling love sick fool. The best fool there was!

All she wanted was to send her address to him right away. However, that would be terribly improper. She needed to keep him waiting. That's what a true princess would do. No need to make it easy. No need to act desperate. This would be her destined encounter, after all. She'd come to Deus seeking her fate, and this was it! Time to amp up her princess persona to the extreme! No more pretending to be the noble daughter, doing hard labour for the sake of the world. No, now, she was a magical Princess who was about to meet her Prince!

With much giggling and a lot of breaks to collapse on the floor and roll around in a frantic display of excitement, Kiki composed a letter to Edgar in return.

She used her cutest pink stationary, and forewent the impractical use of her pink gel pen. She'd tried, but the words were lost in a sea of pink. Her second attempt with black ink worked better in the end.

Her letter done, she misted it with a spray of her Princess perfume, before sending it off with the Royal messenger.
