Shen was essentially a loner learning the ways of the forge and the brew master. he learned under Kōjin the God of the hearth. basically cooking fires =_=. however after he mastered combat the forge which was far more intimidating than one would think, learning fire and lighting. Eventually he moved to youkai mountain creating a brewery up near the top supplying booze and POWERFUL weapons to the upper class youkai who came to him like his masterworks the Hakurouken of which he made for Yukari and a few sake related items he gifted to the Oni population. Eventually a human that bugged him non stop became his close friend and a long while later his wife then the mother of his child. however she died during childbirth and he rampaged for over 100 years under the sea and in the skies as a great storm that would come and go. Eventually the fires of his rage died out and he returned to his brewery. However due to a certain event, his half human daughter was lost to him alive but out of reach, he cannot find her. So he simply lives trying to be away from everyone. however he cannot avoid the world for long and will most likely be bugged again soon

the blood glinted gently off his forearm, his strong thick muscles tensed gently as he tossed the human aside.
"...I dont get it...you would think they would give up already...or just run out of monks..."
He spoke to no one up on his lonely mountain. He had been crafting weapons for the yokai for years on end, deadly weapons or artifacts of great power to help stunt the human threat.
"well...back up I go..."
he chuckled hefting the basket of rice. hopping and skipping over the dozen or so dead monks as he made his way back up the mountain. it all seemed so trivial. the yokai came to him with precious metals and jewels as payment. he would in turn craft them weapons, the bandits would come to steal his weapons and get a name for themselves and the monks would come to solve the problem of the increasing power of yokai by cutting off a source of power for them. he would kill all the humans craft the weapons and then craft beautiful treasures that would gain in power as each yokai visited and gain more and more as they sat in the Gaia or spirit of the earth soaking in the depths of the mountain. earth's chi, that he could in turn take in becoming even more powerful. though even with all of this, his life seemed empty, hollow and vague all of that would be cured then cursed by the events of this day.
"...annnnnd home....rice goes....huh?"
his door was open. very few souls made it to his house alive and fewer still touched his home without dying from all the traps. but someone actually made it inside.
"....now this is odd....not every day I get to kill a human in the comfort of my own home...."
he poked in and almost laughed.
a young girl. she could not have been more than 8 years old was trying to make off with a full barrel of sake that must have weighed at least 30 times her own body weight.
"...um...yes...that is mine...what are you doing?"
he lifted her by her shirt which was all she was wearing. poorly dressed had not bathed in ages, he could tell she was a peasant. but...even with that skin and bones with no protection. she made it up his mountain into his house and SOMEHOW was stealing his booze and then finally the last bit that was amusing
"what?....you gonna fight me or not you big stupid oni"
her tiny fists whisked through the air at him
"...heh...ok...that was just funny enough to save your life brat....now go on back to wherever you came from"
he set her down outside his door and closed it. moving the keg back into place he sighed sitting down for just a moment as he heard the blade trap at his door spring.
"...great...dead kid...why cant they just learn..."
he stood up and opened the door only to be pegged in the face with a pebble
"...to victory!"
the girl ran past him and instantly grabbed onto the same barrel.
"umm....I dont know whether to laugh and spare you or just make you go squish."
he picked her up and placed her back outside again closing the door. with a grunt he sat down again and slowly began to drift off to sleep only waking a short moment later as soft grunts were heard. she had dug under the door and was trying to take the same keg.
"...ok ...that does it.."
he grabbed her by the shirt again and opened the door. closing it behind him he leaped stone to stone all the way down the mountain until he came to the nearest village. people screamed running for their lives.
"....STAY!!"
he plopped her down and returned to the mountain. after a night of work and a brief sleep he came out to work again noticing that she was back again.
"....for a girl that looks like she hasnt eaten a thing in years....you have a LOT of energy"
"whaaa! I will have victory!.. surrender the booze and I will spare you....and some food.....and...and candy if you have any...."
she smiled determined and ready. the look on her face told him that she really did believe that she could take him on.
"......ok brat....tell you what....you climbed this mountain twice...on nothing....make it a third time...and then we can talk food...but for now...I need to work...and I am putting you back down the mountain."
later that day he was returning with the needed metals for his next crafting and there stood the girl AGAIN trying to take the very same barrel of booze.
"....well....I guess you made it..."
he bopped her on the head and brought her inside putting the keg back and cooking up an oni sized meal. he watched her eat her fill which for such a small girl was a surprising amount. then back outside it was
"...hrmm....before I take you down the mountain .....I do not think you are going to stop here....soooo....heh...why not tell me your name brat?"
she stuck out her tongue at him
"...its common cutesy to say your name first stupid oni"
he reached out and pulled her up by her shirt
"....Im an oni remember....Im not polite...."
he traveled down the mountain and dropped her off but before he made his way back up
"..hey...stupid oni....if I make it back up...its food AND you tell me your name...."
he chuckled.
".....sure brat....but then you have to tell me yours..."
the next day there she was. he let out a chuckle and cooked a meal.
"...I am shen.....now then...who are you?"
"ah....I was thinking a stupid oni would have a wierd name...that sounds pretty normal.."
"your name?"
"oh....I dont have one..."
she smiled and bit into the fresh hunk of meat. with a smile he nodded
"....you should get one.....come back enough times and I will give you one....for keeps"
he laughed.
the next day she came and the next and the next, days turned to weeks and weeks to months and even years passed. every day she would try and take the same barrel which would lead to him catching her sharing food and talking. it was a full two years until he brought her into the forge and showed her how to mold metal. she was so much stronger with food in her belly and climbing the mountain every day. the next thing he taught her was to make booze. it took another two years before he trusted her with some of his secret recipes. another few years and things began to change. she was becoming a woman and one thing eventually lead to another. every time he lead her back down to her village the people know to stay clear but one night it all changed.
instead of seeing villagers run for cover and watch nervously from the distance. there was no one there.
"...hrmm...that is strange..."
being over seven feet tall, Kasumi as he came to call her fit easy on one of his shoulders as he brought her down from the mountain each day. hopping off she looked about. her wit was as sharp as his
"...something is wrong..."
he got his answer from something that any normal yokai would have missed. an arrow zoomed in at incredible speeds. his head bobbed to one side as it sank into and passed through a tree. he could feel the power resonating off it. it had exorcism tags all over it powerful ones. powerful enough to actually burn him
"...oh my....we have someone who can actually fight coming for me this time....hell...its been forever since you guys got the damn hint..."
Kasumi looked up at him. he never had to fight with her around, it made him a little on edge. his eyes closed and his chi burst out in a fine light stream. he could feel them. ten of them. all positioned perfectly.
"...come on out you fools..."
slowly they came. all of them heavily armed, most of them monks but all of them, their clothes, their weapons, their armor, all made from the bones horns hair and skin of yokai. these were pros and were not going to be easy.
they all moved at once. Shen pushed kasumi back and swept one leg through the air clouding it with smoke and flames. grunts gasps and loud bashes were heard then began the screams. the air cleared and all but three were dead. one badly burned another lay dying shattered and broken as their only female exorcist hung by her hair in his hand. gasping in pain as she reached out at him with her only remaining arm. her left arm was snapped and simply torn off by his brute strength. shivering and gasping she looked up at him tears in her eyes. he had not a single ounce of pity. these people killed hundreds of yokai. even innocent ones who could not fight. he could see their skins on the armor. smell their blood in their hair. these people were the true monsters and he didnt bat an eye killing them. his hand reached out clasping over the woman's throat giving a squeeze as her eyes began to go blank a firm grip planted on his arm
"NO...STOP"
kasumi was pulling on his arm
"...what...these things are filth...they are hardly even able to be called people...they are just monsters....they kill for fun more than they kill for their delusional justice"
"NO....PLEASE...."
her eyes teared up
"...they are still people.....please.....you are the one who told me....as your master even told you. life is sacred...do not waste it..."
he looked at her confused.
"...that was for yourself...if you deserve to die then you deserve to die..."
she shook her head looking into his eyes.
"...no...please...no..."
he looked at her then at the woman already passed out and with a sigh he dropped her.
"....I really didnt expect that....well...come on....back up the mountain..."
"but I live here..."
"nope...not any more....these hunters dont care....if you are yokai or are tolerant of yokai...they will kill you all the same."
she hesitated but firmly nodded and he brought her back up. another year passed and the attacks grew more and more often and powerful. he still killed them from time to time but avoided it around her. it was not long until one thing lead to another in their safe time together before her belly swelled with the miracle of life.
he was considered lucky even among his now much fewer yokai guests. Kasumi had grown from a brat peasant to the most beautiful woman for at least 100 miles. even yokai who prided themselves in their beauty paled in comparison hence drawing even more to the now legendary "Oni demiGod who ruled the mountain and enslaved the beautiful princess defiling her" as the stories went. any man who slew the great Oni would take home the beautiful princess for his own bride. months passed and Shen had to lock up and hide his home due to all the attacks. Kasumi was going to give birth soon and he could not risk an attack when he was needed. so he decided to hide in plain sight. an old run down castle close to a village. he hid her carefully watching the every move outside until that fateful day. only minutes after her water broke the castle came under attack by what had to be an army and a half of bandits and taoist monks. he plowed through their ranks unscathed the wrath of a God burning through him as he protected the castle. finally the masses caught up to him. the castle was set ablaze. darting inside he was quickly followed. their strongest and fasted men.
kasumi calling his name gasping. she was so near that he could feel the babies chi already kicking and squirming
he posed ready to kill any who came near but her cries were the same.
"ALL life is sacred."
her heart was too big for even Buddha her compassion was for all and her selfless actions was the ONLY thing that made him believe. despite their hate their selfish reasons, their evil. humanity still had potential. if it could make something as good as Kasumi it could be saved after all
he was not fast enough. the blades sailed through the air at her just as the babies first cries were heard. blades maces hammers and exorcism talismans impacted, cutting burning and stabbing into his flesh he let out a grunt of pain. no mortal, no human had EVER lay a single blade on him. and yet this "demiGod" took the assault without question.
her weak voice sounded to him just barely audible over the cries of the infant.
"all life....is sacred. all life.....please remember....its the only part of me that remains now"
his eyes flinched and watered. he had not known. he was in the field of battle. he didnt understand what birth would do to her. he was an oni. and she was a delicate human. she did not survive the birth of his newborn daughter.
the blades stiffened in his wounds. unable to be drawn from their places as fire burned over his skin and lightning in his mouth crackled his mind blank with the wrath that would dwarf that of any God. though his silent oath of his lover's last request. ALL life was sacred these pitiful things were already choking on his power he could not remain and keep his oath. his power so great he could not touch his daughter without killing her. so with one great wind he left. and for 100 years he rampaged against the elements destroying everything in his path, cutting a swath of destruction through the very heart of the earth. underground causing earthquakes and eruptions his rage fumed and blasted. until he returned to his mountain home to morn and weep for many years. he knew not what happened to his daughter but he could still feel her alive. though he had not the power in his spirit to find her. nor the control he needed to keep his oath with his Kasumi AND rescue his daughter.
his life would return to its original state until his salvation would return and he could tame his rage or let it finally burn to nothing allowing him to reclaim his soul from it.
