Umbram is a small village that's mostly a farming community. Here, the young Saris has finally found a clue to tracking down the men who took his family and friends. But things have not gone as he thought.... Time to see what happens next.

The Reaver

Saris walked back into the village as the sun set. Most of the people were closing their shops and settling in for the evening, and they didn't notice the young warrior stumble down the road toward the two story Inn along the towns Western edge. Dark drops of liquid fell to the earth with every step he took. The street becoming stained in a pitter pattered path of life being lost. Saris's breath came heavy, but it was more from his fury than pain. When he reached the Inn's doors he practically kicked them off their hinges, and the joyful chatter of the patrons ceased.
"ODIS!" Saris growled and his blue eyes raked across every seat and table. Blood soaked his cloak and leather armor, and the patrons could see a puddle of the crimson liquid forming on the floor underneath him. The man in question was cowering behind a wooden beam, in desperate hope that Saris would not notice him there. "Odis.." Saris took quick strides toward the cowardly man and grabbed him by his balding hair. Odis cried out in pain, but there would be no mercy from Saris at this moment. With a heave he slammed Odis against the wooden pillar; Saris's bloody hands soaked the mans clothes and his eyes bore into the older mans like serrated daggers.
"It was you.." The Inn remained silent; no one dared to get in between Saris and the old man he had a quarrel with. Odis trembled in fear as he heard those words, and he shook his head violently to deny the accusation.
"You've got it w-wrong Saris! The s-slavers took the village! I-i was in the f-fields when the-" Saris cut him off with a fist to his stomach. Odis letting out a gasp and nearly retching from the iron hard punch.
"Don't you dare mock me with your lies old man.. I went to the slavers. They were just where you said they'd be. And I killed every one of them.." Odis was still gasping for air like a fish out of water, and his eyes widened when those words struck him. "Before I killed the last of them though they told me an interesting story.. how they had been tipped off on when the villages defenses would be down, and how you let them through with anyone noticing. This town was next on you're little scam wasn't it Odis?" He struggled to get out of Saris's grip and shook his head more.
"No! I swear Saris! They were lying!" Saris crunched his fist into the old mans cheekbone and let him drop to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Odis groaned in agony and Saris slowly drew his blade. It was stained red, and dull and chipped from recent fighting. The people started to back as far away from the two men as they could; all the patrons knew that there was not gonna be a happy ending tonight.
"They had letters from you. I know your guilty Odis." Saris was holding his side now, blood welled out from between his fingers whenever he moved. His wounds were serious, but he didn't care even the slightest about what happened to him now. He only cared that the man before him suffer. Odis tried to plead for mercy, and he rolled on his back and looked up at the young man with terrified eyes.
"Saris please.." He opened his mouth, presumably to defend himself and beg for forgiveness, but instead Saris plunged his sword into the mans mouth. The man choked and coughed as blood started to pour over his lips and then Saris finished him by driving the dull blade through his skull with a sickening crunch. People stared with horror and disgust as blood soaked the floor of the tavern, and Saris stood over the mans corpse shaking uncontrollably. All these years that he had searched, and it was done. He could barely stand. His body was tired and weak from blood loss, but still he stood. His eyes locked on the mans face without a trace of remorse, only years of hatred and anguish finally being released.
"Save a seat in Hell for me."

Just expecting the usual evening beer experience when she arrive it didn't cross Lottie's mind that entertainment was included. Well to her it was entertainment. Not to long after ordering her 2nd drink did a young man come barging in with such rage in his eyes and covered head to toe in blood. She couldn't find herself looking away from the sight not caring if it made her seem like a creep. Everyone else was doing it anyway, well okay maybe they stared in fear and not in 'aw' like her. Who could blame her though Lottie loved despair and any who brought it. That's why she's followed her king. Anyhow through out the whole fight if that what it was considered the young girl remained in her seat sipping her beer like nothing. Once all was said and done and a man was wonderfully killed Lottie set down her drink and slowly made her way over to the young man. Pushing her way though she was stopped a few time by people, but pushed them off she didn't see what they saw she saw a broken man, someone injured, and possibly a new comrade. As she stood in front of the boy she assumed was SIias she stared down at the dead man once known as Odis smiling,"You did a nice job for a youngster," Letting out a giggle she made her way over to Silas not caring that she was stepping in blood,"I must say you were foolish to attack being so wounded. Here let me help you." Seeing she was close enough Lottie lightly place her hand on his. A blue light emitted from the two's hand as she began to heal him the best to her ability see his hand and his cloths were in the way. "My names Lottie by the way if you were wondering." She looked up and gave him a truly warm smile.

Saris blinked at the woman a little confused. The loss of blood and fury he had felt clouding his head. When she touched his hand his whole body went rigid, and he gripped his sword hilt tight ready for a fight, but the soft glow that came from her hand relieved some of his pain and cleared his head, so he relaxed a little and leaned against the pillar he had just interrogated the dead man against.
"Lottie... Thank you. My name is Saris." Though he looked calm enough after killing Odis his mind was really in turmoil. The rage and hate that had led him down this path still bubbled and boiled inside, but he didn't know what to do with it now. "I need to.. to go." Saris turned toward the doorway and stumbled across the room to the exit. The healing had stopped most of the bleeding, but it hadn't fixed all the blood loss and fatigue from fighting. He would need serious rest and healing. If he could even find a proper healer before dying on the road somewhere.

After taking sometime contemplating on whether to aid the child or let him die out in the cold Lottie sighed. She guessed it wouldn't hurt to play the hero card one and a while. Especially seeing he could just die their with all that wobbling he was doing. That what needed to be fixed first his stabilization. Seeing she had no crutches or a wheel chair to force him into Lottie walked up behind him lift up his arm gently so she wouldn't irritate his wounds more and wrapped it around herself as she placed one arm on his lower back and the other on his chest. Even if he was taller, muscular, and heavier than her Lottie manage to stabilize him without a hassle. "Now who said I was done helping you Saris?" Laughing the two wondered out of the hotel, "So your place? or some abandoned building?" While she was using a teasing tone Lottie was quite serious. His wounds needed to be treated asap. Any longer than lets say ten to twenty minutes and Saris would die from blood lose.

Saris wanted to argue with her that he didn't need help, but he was no fool. He would die if he went out alone. They exited the Inn and he vaguely pointed down the road leading into the woods. "An abandoned cabin.. Just outside of town. I've been living there recently." Saris gritted his teeth and forced himself to stay conscious. He had suffered injuries just as bad before and lived. He would not succumb to these ones. He wondered why this strange woman was helping him. He had murdered a man in front of a bunch of bystanders, but she did not seem to be in the least bit mortified. In fact, Saris should be feeling the most mortified. It was one thing to kill bandits and slavers, but an old man? Saris should have felt horrified that he could do such a thing, but.. He felt nothing for the deed he had done. Killing was killing he supposed. As long as they deserved it, it mattered not whether defenseless or armed.

Nodding her head she helped him walk towards their new destination. Lottie remained quiet for the most part as he gave her directions. Looking up at him every so often just to make sure he was still conscious. With each look she notice he was getting paler and paler. She wanted to quicken the place really, but with his injuries it was near impossible to do so without bringing more pain to him.

It didn't take as long nor were they quick enough to her liking once they reached the cabin. Seating Saris on the stair for a moment the young women ran up the remainder of them, opened the door, and put a object under the door frame so it wouldn't slam shut on them. Once that was done Lottie ran back over to him,"Alright just a few more steps. Don't pass out on me now child." Putting herself under him arm again positioning herself so she would carry most of the weight as they got up. She did this to put less strain on him and so he wouldn't be dumb and try to walk on his own. Lottie may look weak but this body was far from and Saris most likely noticed by now seeing she was able to lead him into the cabin sitting him on the semi- comfortable looking bed with out breaking a sweat. Dusting the imaginary dust from her hands Lottie kneeled down in front of him and began to strip him. For his cloths got in the way of her properly healing him. Her power worked better skin on skin then cloth on skin. Saris seeing he was a guy on the other hand Lottie felt like she needed to explain her actions,"Now don't go getting the wrong idea. I just need to assist the wounds properly so I know what exactly needs to be healed."

Saris didn't care. Or rather, he was too out of it to feel embarrassed or anything else. He just sat on the bed and let the woman do what she needed to do. Thankfully he wasn't wearing too much. His leather armor came off easily enough and underneath was just cotton clothing that was pretty torn up at the moment. After she had stripped him down to his undergarments he gripped the sheets and forced himself to stay sitting up. His body may have been getting weaker but his will would not wain so easily.
The worst wounds were on his sides, where his armor would not protect him so easily. There were several deep gashes from sword strikes, and his skin was turning a pale color around them from blood loss. He also had a hole in his thigh from an arrow, but he had removed it a while back, and there were other bruises and scars from older injuries scattered all over his body. Saris was young, but he was no stranger to combat. This, though, would have to have been his worst battle. His rage had blinded him to rational thought. He had attacked like a demon and forgot all about his well being. He would need to control that anger in the future if he wanted live long enough to savor his victories.
Saris took a slow deep breath to steady himself and looked down at the woman treating him. "Can you treat the wounds..? I'm not sure how much longer I can stay awake." Despite his voice sounding steady, and his demeanor very calm. His vision was slowly getting darker and blurrier and he would not be able to stop it soon.

Leaving him in his underwear she went to put his cloths onto the table a few feet from the bed. Lottie couldn't help but giggle as she helped him into a laying position. "Just leave it to me I'm the best healer in my Kingdom if I do say so myself dear." It would just take time to heal most of these wounds let alone a lot of her own energy. Looking around for something to sit down on Lottie spotted a wooden box. Once she dragged it over to the bed and sat down. Gently laying her hand on his side the same blue light from before began to emit from her hands as she got to work.

A few hours had gone by before Lottie was officially done with all his wounds. Now in stead of scared and bruised skin there was smooth fresh skin. Rubbing a head with he hand she felt a cold liquid and pulled back the hand quickly forgetting it was stained with blood like the other one. In fact so was his new skin. "I guess I should clean up," Sighing she mustered up enough energy to stand up before walking over to the sink. Putting in some water into a small bowl after washing her hands, Lottie grabbed a small towel as well as she went back to her make shift chair. Where once the wounds were present she began to wash of the dried blood making sure not to disturb Saris in his slumber. Ten minutes now could be truly said that his skin was as good as knew. Yawning Lottie cover him in a thin blanket and went on to laying her upper half of the bed crossing her arms underneath her using them as some sort of pillow as finally allowed her heavy eye lids to shut,"I...wounder if th.....is is how it....... feels to be a.......hero......" mumbling that Lottie herself soon found herself sleeping. She didn't want to seeing she didn't know what the boy would do, but with all that healing it couldn't be helped.

The Reaver

When Saris woke he was a little confused. Why was he in the cabin? Wasn't he back in Umbram going to see Odi-... The memory of running Odis's skull through with his sword rushed back. He let the memory play by in his head a few times, unsure how he should feel about it still. Saris lied awake staring at the ceiling for quite some time before remembering there had been a woman who helped him here. He sat up and saw her lying asleep at his bedside, and he smiled as he looked himself over seeing no trace of his recent wounds. A handy woman to have around. Careful not to wake her he slowly rolled out of the bed and groaned, still a little achey and stiff. Most likely because of the terrible bedsprings. He found his torn up clothes and sighed going to a chest by the window and pulling out new ones. It wouldn't do to go around the place half naked with a woman in the room.
Saris changed and sighed; completely exhausted feeling still, but at least his pain was gone and he wasn't on death's door. He didn't know how long it had been, but the sun was completely gone now and he had to light a candle to see clearly in the room. He took a seat back on the bed and gently shook the woman, not wanting her to sleep the whole night like that. "Miss.. You should get up and take the bed if you need more rest."

Letting out a groan Lottie ran a hand threw her blond hair as she slowly woke up. Waking up was such a annoyance to her seeing your senses were all over the place. Sitting up Lottie looked for the source to the voice. Finding a fully clothed Saris looking down in her the young blond smiled. Seems he wasn't the type to killed on impulse. That's good. Yawning she waved her hand,"No im find Saris, but thank you for your concern," Getting up Lottie put her hands on each side of his face then began to rotate it left and right,"Well you seem not to be knocking at deaths door anymore haha. How are you feeling?"

Saris sat in an old rocking chair that looked like it might collapse under his weight, and slowly rocked back and forth in it as he smiled at the girl. "Sore, but very good now thanks to you. I probably would have died in the streets back there if you hadn't helped." He studied the woman curiously. Now that he wasn't dazed with pain and dying he wanted to see the person who had rescued him. She didn't look so old, but as he recalled, she had called him young. She had also carried him most of the way here, and she did not look to be built that strong. There was probably a lot more to her then meets the eye. Not usually one to probe, he had to ask her a question that itched at the back of his mind. "Why did you rescue me? You could have easily let me leave to whatever end fate desired of me."

Tapping her pale lips with her index finger Lottie thought for a moment. Truly why did she save him? boredom? sympathy? oh wait! now she remembered. "I seen potential within you boy. You could be a valuable soldier to King Lucian and the Valaria Kingdom." As she said all this Lottie decided to take a seat at the edge of the bed still feeling a little tired from her previous actions. No surprise there though really. Beside the point though she was honest with her words. Just by looking at him you could tell he had a great amount of strength, so he was most likely a excellent hand to hand fighter. Then the way he killed that old man showed he had no problem ending someone's life or making them suffer. He was the type of soldier Lottie loved to battle against or with and she wasn't just going to let such a wonderful murderous warrior die on the side of the street without getting something out of him.

Saris couldn't help a little smirk playing on his lips. Potential aye? His teacher had once said that. In the days of his youth were everything and anything could become the subject of his anger. What gave him potential he wondered? There was nothing special about himself that he could think of, but his teacher had always stressed that he had great power. Saris had worked hard to get the skills he had today. While there were secrets he had, dark powers that he did not often delve into, Saris had always felt like a normal person. He sang the same songs as the common folk. He ate where he could get food. He did hard work to earn money. He wasn't a lord or a king. He wasn't a demon or an angel. He was a man who's life was dictated by fate. Yet this woman said those same words his teacher had. Potential.

Saris did not know what he should think about being a 'valuable soldier' in King Lucian's ranks. He had heard rumors of the man, but he had enough common sense not to listen to every tale the commoners told. The woman had him hooked though; that single word giving him this tug in his stomach. His destiny had brought him far in his quest for revenge, now that it was all over maybe this is where he had to go next. Saris let his interest show and voiced his thoughts clearly. "I do not know what potential you may see in me, and maybe it's better I don't. If I could be of some service to you or this King Lucian; however, I would be grateful and honored to use my blade for a new cause." Saris did not want to jump into anything just yet though, and asked politely, "Before I dedicate myself to another's cause though, I'd like to know the person I'm fighting for. How far is Valaria from here?"

It was honestly interesting to watch someone think. If that made sense. If not simply put the faces they made cause her to giggle or in this case bit her lip to prevent herself from doing so. Really his expression was to serious, but it was good to know she was able to get into his head. To be able to plant her seed. If she was successful Valaria would have a new warrior, possibly even a new Elite like herself. Now that was a nice thought. A new face she wouldn't mind conversing with on a daily bases. Saris didn't even mind her presence were other found her annoying or to dark and morbid. No he was like her in a sense. A villain nor hero. The only difference that separated the two was he wanted purpose she wanted destruction. Well I guess scratch that Lottie leaned more to the villain side than hero. The only thing that would maybe help her lean over to the hero side would be her counter part Lacie, but now that she is in eternal slumber what good that was once left by Lacie is slowly fading day by day. Simply stated though Lottie wouldn't mind actually befriending this boy and it seemed she would be able to soon. His interest in joining her kings ranks cause a actual smile to form. Something rarely seen by others. "Well now that depends Saris...." Spreading out her black and blue homebred wings,"By flight thirty minutes tops. By foot a few hours at most." Though she wish right away he said 'alright' or 'Yes! I would love to' it was understandable that he would want to see the very kingdom he might be serving and if lucky its ruler.
