Ｍａｋａｉ

Makai is a realm in-between the Outside World and Gensokyo. On the Gensokyo side the portal is located within a cave on the mountain behind Hakurei Shrine. While few have entered this realm those who have noted several known regions of the realm. One thing all regions of Makai have in common is a miasma in the air that has regenerative properties to Demons, (and may be the same for Angels as some take residence there.) but is harmfully corrosive to any other creature. The miasma is utilized by human magicians as a method to gain magical abilities rapidly as the physically harming cloud amplifies magical abilities making it easier to practice higher level spells.

o Sariel - Home is the Fallen Temple (highly likely that it is located in the Ruins of Vina)
o Sara - One of possibly many Guardians to the gates of Makai.
