The owner of the company and Palei have been appealing and asking Rhiannon to agree to having a "Icebreaker" Picnic at Shadow's Hollow Stables and for weeks, they have been met with icy resistance but now she got sick of them constantly asking or nagging her about it. There is a gray overcast weather and the temperature is chilly to luke cold, it matches Rhiannon's mood as she drags herself out of the bed, knowing that her sister is already up and around, making sure that all food that they both made last night are ready to serve. "I shouldn't have agreed to this.." The woman mutters as she rubs her eyes and gets dressed quickly and heads downstairs to drag the tables to the center pen in the stables just in case it started raining.

"I am awake...its a miracle" She dryly comments to Palei in a manner of greeting as she breezes outside after shoving her feet into her boots and starts to pull the tables out of the storage house. After moving two tables to the destined location, Rhiannon leans against the open door of storage house and wipes her face with a bandanna then she crosses her arms with a sigh, knowing that her job isn't done after all of the tables are moved. There are animals that needs to be fed, stables to be mucked out, horses to put out into the pastures. With a wry shake of her head, she purposefully strides off to tackle all of those things.

The sound of a duely breaks the quiet of the ranch this chilly morning. Rumbling up the way is tally in her white truck, pulling her climate controlled trailer behind. A whinny of excitement came form inside, for she decided to bring along Clever Calvary today, her buckskin stud who was eager to smell the new smells and see the new sights. It was early. Very early. As a matter of fact a bit too early for the visitors to show, but Tally had gotten up even earlier so that her stables were cared for before she left.
Why she was hear so early? Well Rhiannon and her sister would soon find out. The truck and its bog tires came rolling up to a stop in the drive and the horn hounded only once. Tally rolled down the window and waiting for instructions as to where they want her to park. Her Honey brown wavy hair in her face, with one soft blue eye visible. She had a Twizzlers candy sticking out of her lips and still had her gloves on.

Clever was excited but he wasn't an aggressive horse. He didn't paw at the floor and raise hell in the trailer like Sahara would have. No He simply stretched his nose toward the closed trailer window in an attempt to see out, but at the moment all he could see were trees.

The sound of wheels crushing the gravel reaches to Rhiannon as she turns her head from her current job of feeding the animals and she noticed that Palei is still inside the house so it falls upon her to be a hostess. With a small sigh, she trundles over to the driveway when a horn beeped once and she twitches little bit, having to remind herself that its a a sign that someone just arrived. Holding a bucket of feed, fire-haired woman appears out of the woods and stares at the honey-haired woman and she simply points to a clearing where all of trailers and trucks are with her hand still holding the bucket.

An excited whinny didn't escape Rhiannon (and other residents that are in the pen)'s attention as she cocks her head little bit, mildly curious to what kind of horses this woman have brought. Answering whinnies and neighs could be heard behind her in the forest where the horses are. Her cold golden eyes stares at the woman before she moves toward the clearing to wait for the woman to park and unload the horse so she could show the woman a way to the pen.

Raymond was happy to attend any formal gathering, and he arrived in slightly more formal wear than a picnic demanded, looking absolutely dashing in the light, colorful jacket that complimented his dark skin as he exited his shiny fancy-model car. It was a good car, running quiet and clean, not just bought for looks but for durability and power. Raymond intended to take as good care of it as he did of his Rook. The horses were home at the moment - they had been training well, and deserved a day of rest and light exercise.

Khunm, of course, looked frumpy and slightly uncomfortable as usual, but Raymond had convinced him to come and bring his products – wine and cheese. This would, Ray had said, be a good oppurtunity for advertising. Khunm didn't like thinking of anything that way – it felt so cold and lifeless.

But Ray was the one with the money, and he'd saved Khunm's a** when it mattered, so Khunm had brought a cooler of homemade wine and sheeps-milk cheese to the picnic. Raymond helped him carry it over to the tables. “Good afternoon.” he said to one of the women at the tables, “I hope you don't mind: we're early and we've brought refreshments...” he set the cooler down, “My name is Raymond Williams, and this is Khunm Rali, from Forest by the Sea...” He gestured to the cooler as Khunm shrunk back shyly, “Do try my colleagues wine and cheeses – all hand produced with traditional methods and all certifiably organic.” said Raymond smoothly.

Well, if Khunm wasn't going to 'sell' his product, he would.

Khunm looked around at the tables nervously... he had a bad feeling about the number of people that would be here, and he really wanted to just... hide...

A younger face peeked its way around the corner of the barn to stare at the people that were arriving to the event. It was nice to see some life in the densely forested ranch. Dressed none too formally, she detested dressing up as much as her sister, Palei wore but a flannel shirt and rough cut jeans that came down to just above her knees. Her high topped boots flopped against thin muscled calves as she walked. Palei was almost as darkly tanned as Rhiannon, but those sapphire cat like eyes showed more interest in what was happening. Brown locks pulled back into a braid, no one needed know that she had been mucking about in the hog pens, not that the mud on her boots wasn't evidence in it self.

Palei turned around just as small hooves came dashing past her and towards the incoming company. A small brown filly, barely halter broken had wiggled its way out of its pen. She knew that Raya was very protective of the filly and also knew that Lucia would be at her wits end with small Rhyne out on her own.

"Rhyne, come back here." Palei hissed under her breath before appearing from where she had been standing and taking after the spirited little filly. "Get back here before you cause more trouble then you want to get into."

User Image

Rhyne only stopped for a moment before she reared up on her hind hooves and turned to take off again. She was always hard to wrangle, most foals were at this time and Rhyne always made things difficult. Not really looking where she was headed, Rhyne was on a collision course for whom ever was close to the tables on the other side of the barn. This was about to become a problem and with so many showing up already...

Tally nodded and pulled her rumbling beastly truck to the clearing and trew on the parking break. After a moment the truck was quiet and she has stepped out to stretch. She glanced into the cab at the deviled eggs and Potato salad she had brought, and than back to where the steely gazes woman went, dressed for work. She closed the door of her white beast and walked back to the tailor, starting to unload Clever Calvary. As she backed him out of the now open doors and lowered trailer ramp, the long legged and lean thoroughbred stud moved calmly and sure footed. Once he was out she hitched him by his head onto the side of the trailer where he stretched and turned sideways to look and see everything he could, his dark nose flaring with the smells of the woods and other horses. She kept the food the brought in a small ice chest for later and adjusted her gloves, following the seemingly dry woman.
She came early to help out with their morning work and help get things set.
So Tally came to the stables and with only saying " I will help, that's why I am here so early", simply started to muck one. Her her laid on the back of her shoulders by its tie. She was a somewhat petite woman, With waving soft honey brown hair and one of those rounded little faces that always seemed youthful.
Thats where she was when the two men showed up, dapper and fancy being one of them. she looked at them and a small smile came upon her lightly pink lips. Not at Ray tho.. at the other, who seemed to be shy and she thought it was cute.
She hadn't met Palei yes and sort of bypassed the house earlier, but she could hear her voice calling after someone named Rhyne.

User Image
Clever Calvary eyes the trees and the house he could see from there, and than turned his golden buckskin body the other way along the trailer to look back and see the stables. They looked so nice and hidden, but most of everything was here. He Paused as he hear the small thundering of hooves at a distance, and turned himself so he could see. He saw Palei and grunted a few times, he enjoyed people and he had not met this one before. Just after, he saw a little filly come racing about, full of life and spirit and his hears pricked. He watched her antics a moment and made a small nicker, his inward laughing escaping some. He called after the filly with that smooth voice " Go Kiddo! GO! That's it! She takes the lead by a length in the final furlong!" He spurred her on, always willing to encourage the spirit and confidence of the younger generation. His call to humans came out as a long barreled whinny, somewhat deeper than most.

Rhiannon inwardly sighs to herself as another truck comes rolling in and the man placed their offerings next to Tally's offerings then spoke about wine and cheese in that smooth manner which caused the female to narrow her eyes slightly in suspicion. "I will make sure to try those things. We only eat organic food around this ranch." Rhiannon forced herself to say in a pleasant manner as she felt her mouth pull up into a polite smile toward a male duo, her golden eyes lands onto Khunm, sensing his discomfort and she stares at him for awhile to see what he would do under her supposedly hunter cat-like eyes.

After few minutes of staring at uncomfortable poor man, Rhiannon turns her head toward another female when she spoke up about helping with ranch work and her golden eyes tracks Tally's movements when the female made a horrible mistake by going ahead and start mucking the stalls without getting an affirmative response from her. Straightening up from her somewhat slouched leaning position against the stall door, Rhiannon moves over to Tally with a hunter's grace, her steps not making any sounds while she just smoothly slides up behind the female then simply yanked the tool out of her hands. Aiming the pointy ends of mucking fork at Tally's throat, her eyes seems to glow with cold fury and she lightly presses the pointy ends against Tally's neck and her soft and dangerous voice finally made itself known. "Don't ever touch anything that is not yours or make yourself at home without my invitation. This is not your home. This is not your ranch work. If I wanted your help, I would ask you to help."

User Image
A sound of horse screaming and kicking the stalls seems to accent Rhiannon's each word. "Rhyne! You get your little tail back here!" Lucia shouts as she kicks at the stall door furiously because Rhyne is one escape artist and always fly right out of the door the second it opens. The deep booming male voice fills the air and it caused Lucia to stiffen up and the red sheen is starting to creep into her vision when she hears him urging her daughter on. "That stallion is so dead...." She mutters to herself as she stomps the ground, pacing back and forth, growling to herself.

Rannon grinned across the truck at her crew, the only one who hadn't come was Tal. He was a bit of an odd duck though so she didn't mind. Missy bounced happily in her seat by the passenger door, Veridian rolled his eyes and Lorna sulked in the back seat, twisted so she could see the trailer they were pulling.
Rannon had decided to bring Coyote and Caustic today and had put the divider up between them as a precaution. 2000 lbs of testosterone in a wheeled box could get catalystic. She smirked.

Arriving at the picnic she parked by Tally's familiar trailer and was delighted to note that Raymond was also here. When they stopped Missy went so fast she had to come back for their fresh bread which Veridian patiently handed to her while Rannon and Lorna went to deal with itchy and scratchy. The pair had smelled Clever and were greeting him through the slats.

Rannon unloaded Caustic first and Lorna delt with the divider to extract Coyote. She placed the stallions far enough apart that they would not grate on each other. They were used to each other enough that she didn't feel it necessary to have one on either side of it.

After setting out a feedbag for each Rannon heared her group over to the tables, except Missy who had landed there already. Rannon thought her parents should have named her Sunny instead of Missy if she could just bottle that energy.

Veridian and Lorna stood together while Rannon walked up to Ray. "Nice to see you again so soon, how is Rook doing?" She asked about the lovely mare that had accompanied Ray on his visit.

Rhyne dashed past those outside the barn, stopping a moment as her ears twitched to the sounds of someone shouting at her. Chocolate eyes looked towards the stallion that was in one of the pens before she looked back at the breathless human behind her. Turning around she watched Palei, waiting for the human to be ready to run again. Though the thundering whinny of Lucia made her ears fall back. She was in trouble...

"You... Just stand there like a good filly..." Palei said breathlessly as she sagged a little, her hands on her knees. How much trouble did one filly make? TONS! That was the answer if anyone asked her.

Shaking her head, sweat beaded her forehead as she wiped an arm over it. Her clothes were starting to stick to her skin as she slowly made her way closer to the young filly. Trying to take hold of the halter before Rhyne could take off again. But she was slow, too slow as Rhyne turned and darted back towards the barn and the stall that she had escaped from. Palei groaned as she slopped off after the foal, her boots slapping against the ground and against her calves.

Rhyne dashed into the barn, past Rhi and the new comer that had come for the outing. Stopping she looked up at the door that Lucia had been kicking. Her sides were heaving, a sheen covered her young coat from the run. She was a very spirited filly and loved to run. Just that her running was going to get her into trouble.

Palei sagged against the frame of the barn door as she panted, her hair a bit flyaway from the chase. Could this day start any worse? The angry words from her sister and the motions from the corner of her eye sealed that thought. They already had. Palei swore beneath her breath as she rubbed the bridge of her nose.

"Calm down Rhi," Palei said as she ran over to Rhi and pulled her away from Tally and taking hold of the tool. "I am sure.. We can work something.. Out..." Palei huffed as she tried to catch her breath, wrangling foals was harder work then wrangling the hogs. Shake feed in front of them and they more quickly, foals not so much.

A silver dodge ram truck with a matching horse trailer could be seen slowly coming up the long lane to the ranch and home. It was as if it didn't want to hurt its precious cargo in the trailer. A female with a slightly dark tan complexion and long raven black hair could be seen driving. She glanced around in the area to see where she could park, being careful and mindful of other horses. Country Music was playing on her radio as it always sooth her down while driving. She had found a spot where she could easily get her precious new horse to get onto the grass rather than the sand or gravel. She shifted the truck into park and moves to get out, grabbing her black cowgirl hat and puts it on her head where it belongs.

Meanwhile, a tan colored stallion could hear his owner's music playing and chuckled. He knew that his owner was very careful around him and was trying to be calm. It was true.. It was his first public outing. He couldn't fault her for it at all. He nickered slightly, feeling the truck stopping and whinnied, using his deeper voice as he didn't want to hurt Isabella's ears. He knew that the wierd thing in her ear often make her ear hurt when there are high pitch sounds going on. "Come on, Miss Isabella." He nickered.

Isabella could hear her stallion getting impatient. "I know, boy. Give me a dang moment!" She grabs her jacket and moved off to open the trailer, putting on the said jacket. She adjusts her hearing aid to make sure that it wouldn't be too loud or too soft for her be have trouble with her hearing today. She lets out a huge sigh, being a bit nervous. She walks to the gate in the trailer that would keep Jacked from bolting. She puts the lead onto his bridle. "Hey, pretty boy.." She mouthed gently to him, nuzzling him. "Easy, love." She undid the gate and walks with him to get him out. She was so glad to have found the stallion that she wanted and needed. She then glanced around once she got out of the trailer.

Jacked nudged her slightly, sensing her nervousness. He tried to reassure her that it'll be ok in his own ways.

Rhiannon's golden eyes glares coldly at the female who had audiacy to start mucking the stables that doesn't even belong to her and she presses the prongs of the mucking fork more firmly against the female's neck and she could sense that more people are showing up so hopefully this would be a lesson for her and others. Just when she was going to back off, her puffing and sweaty younger sister comes to the rescue, taking the fork from her while pulling her away from the poor female who is probably scared out of her wits and trying to sooth the situation over but its ruined by the heavy breathing and puffing. "Make sure she don't touch the stalls or anything that belongs to this stable except for things that we invited them to." She slants her slightly softening eyes toward Palei. "Go and take a shower.. and a short nap too, it looks like Rhyne ran you ragged today." She says quietly as she nudges Palei. "I will try my best not to kill anyone today." (but both of them knows that its virtually impossible for her to go through a day without harming or almost killing someone)

Turning away from Tally and Palei, Rhiannon knows that Palei will soothe things over with Tally so her presence isn't needed and she walks over to a group of people who have horses out. "Come with me, I will show you guys to the paddocks where your horses can meet up with ours." She calmly says as a slight smirk appears on her face. Her golden eyes looks over four stallions as that smirk on her face widens little bit because Niabi is going to be beside herself with joy and Lucia with foaming at mouth anger. "Follow me, children." She says as she pulls the bandanna off her neck and uses it to wipe her face while walking down that well-used path to the large paddock. "I have 2 large troughs full with hay and some treats for all of your horses." She calls over her shoulder at Isabella, Rannon, Tally and others.

Raymond and khunm set up their contribution with ease, Ray looking out over the commotion thoughtfully, Khunm looking as though he would rather shrink behind something and hide.

A familiar voice distracted Raymond and he brightened, smiling a winning, white-toothed smile. “Good afternoon, Miss Rannon!” he said, his voice warmly formal, “She is resting at home – the races were good exercise for her, but perhaps a little exhausting...” he had been very proud of his horse – she had raced well. “And you? How are your strapping...” he glanced at the two horses behind her, “Stallions?”

Khunm watched them with wariness – Forest by the Sea had no male horses as of yet, and they were... well, big.

“Ah!” Raymond could have kicked himself for his lapse, “Allow me to introduce my associate, Khunm Rali. He is an artisanal crafter of wines and cheeses. Khunm, this is Rannon of Rattlesnake Downs.”

Khunm nodded – he remembered Ray going out on a trail trip or something. “Nice to meet you...” he said quietly, his nervous olive gaze drifting towards the host.

Raymond noticed too. “Do you require any assistance with your two?” he asked, gesturing to the horses, “I would be delighted to help you get them situated.”

Tally stood there, looking down the pitchfork at her aggressor. It was like something hollow and lifeless made the light fade from her eyes, that light that everyone always sees. This wasn't the first time someone needlessly threatened her with barn tools, and that cold and bitter face of Rhiannon's was the first time in a long time that someone reminded her of her father. She wasn't frightened, more like numb. That blue gaze seemingly dead and almost haunted, like staring into an old withered house where you know bad things took place.
she didn't speak to her, instead her hands slowly came up with fingers up and palms forward in a non-threatening sign of surrender.
The firmness of the pitchfork on her neck only deepened the hollow expression.
When her sister came and pulled her away her hands slowly lowered, and Rhiannon's words made Tally sound like a thief or some sort of unwanted person.
as her aggressor walked off she watched her go, than finally looked at Palei.
All she said was "I'm sorry." with no reasons to follow in an empty voice and just walked out of the stall, heading for her truck, not really giving Palei time to say anything.
things like this, if they were reported to The Triple Crown Equestrian Board or to the owner of the company, it could very well damage their reputation. Not just of being poor hosts, but for breeding as well.

Tally mostly ignored everyone and everything on her way to her truck. The other trucks gathering, Rannon, and the bustle of people.

Calvary watched the people as they went by ( he was still tied to the tailor). His ears pricked at the sounds and his nostrils flared at the smells. He nickered in response to the sound of other horses. But one person got his attention. Tally, and she didn't look right. His ears folded back and his head lowered a bit. She didn't feel right. Tally walked up and simply threw her arms around her studs neck, and rested her cheek on the side of neck. She didn't talk, and she didn't move from that spot for a moment nor did she speak.
He didn't know what was wrong or what happened but all he could do he stand there and rest his chin on her back.
What had happened? he had never seen her like this, and better yet, were they going to leave already? His ears pinned back as he decided to try and figure out who did this. Was it that testy looking woman that directed them in? Was it a horse? He started to become agitated but never moved from her.
She was slowly starting to feel better. The smell of her horse, the warmth of his body seemed to be like a reflection of what keeps that light going in her sometimes.
As her mind started to be able to think again, she started to contemplate if they where leaving. If she was going to report Rhiannon. Hell, she could just as easily press charges. Her mind started to swim.
PostPosted: Mon Dec 08, 2014 5:03 pm

Palei watched her sister walk off to show the others a place they could put their horses to interact with their own few. Turning around, her mouth open to say something and Tally just walked past saying a 'I'm sorry' as she went. Well this day just got messed up. Her head sagging on her neck, her hands rubbing her face in frustration. This had been a clearly bad idea. She knew her sister's tendencies and knew that she loathed being around other people. Palei had hoped that something like this wouldn't have happened, but it evidently did. Turning around and looking between the two that walked away, her sister now out of sight.

"Well this turned out just lovely." Palei groaned as she looked towards where Rhyne stood, waiting to be let back in with her mother.

Sighed, her shoulders slouched, Palei opened the stall gate to let the foal back into the stall with the mares. Then took after where Tally had disappeared. Stopping outside the barn, Palei looked through the brightness of the sun's light towards where the trucks and trailers had been parked. She had to do something, she couldn't leave this to.. Fester in a sense, but she was in real need of that shower.

"I will take one after I handle this" she assured herself as she sped walked towards the parked trucks looking for Tally.

Coming around one of the trucks she stopped and watched as Tally clung to the stallion she had brought. Many had brought their stallions with them, the few mares on the ranch were in for a treat. Well, Niabi was anyways, the others weren't that inclined. She thought that Raya and Lucia had a thing against stallions. Who knew why, she never asked...

Shaking her head she stepped out from where she had been standing and sighed a little louder than wanted. How was she going to do this? Already she thought her sister had done the wrong thing in threatening the guest. Leaving her to pick up the pieces of the shamble.

"I am sorry about my sister. She has this really bad tendency to protect things around her from other people." Rubbing the back of her own neck, Palei didn't know how to explain it all. "Do you want to put your handsome stallion into the pen with the others? There's water, hay and grain put out." She offered, the toe of her boot digging into the ground, trying to make up for what had happened.

Housed in one of the outer pens, a dusty colored mare grazed on the grass, her tail flicking behind her. She was glad to be away from the barn, away from the rest of the mares that were there. They were too confining! Keeping to themselves and shying away stallion. Driving them actually, she didn't understand why. Snorting and shaking her head, Niabi lifted her head and scented the air. More were coming, turning around she trotted over towards the gate of the pen. Stretching her neck over the high rail, she watched the path that lead to the pen. She smelt others, she smelt stallions. Many of them! Ears twitching slightly, the champagne mare waited to see who came to visit, perhaps they were handsome stallions? Only time would tell...

Tobias wondered just how he'd managed to get roped into visiting one of the other stables when socializing was his sisters specialty. Tobias had a better head for figures and animal care and much prefered being stuck indoors over driving around. At his side Taiga chuckled as he applied a third layer of sunblock to his pale skin. "I can practically hear those thoughts of yours Tobias. Miss Markov is a force to be reckoned with when she gets that notion in her head. You lost the moment she opened her mouth." The albino glanced at his boss out of the corner of his eye, before turning his attention back to the passing scenery. According to the GPS they should be at the stable right about, now.

He hummed appreciatively as the place came into view, and again when they found where they were allowed to park and unload. Burnished Cream was a good girl and didn't put up much of a fuss as he unloaded her and checked her over. Her pale ears flicked at each new sound and her nostrils flared as she scented the air. He knew for a fact that she was good with other horses, as proven by her quick integration with the stallion. Taiga felt as if he didn't have to worry overly much as he lead her over to where the humans seemed to be gathered, his boss following him like a lost puppy.

The two ambled over to Rhiannon, missing whatever it was that she last said. "Hullo. I am Tobias Markov, owner of Oroborus Stables. This lovely lady is Burnished Cream and her jockey is Taiga Carrow. I hope we are not intruding..." Tobias said, introducing his small party before trailing off. He resisted the urge to run a hand through his shoulder length strawberry blond hair, or over his neatly trimmed beard. It was bad enough that he'd forgotten his eyepatch and the scarring over his left eye was clearly visible.

Taiga resisted the urge to chuckle at his employer's discomfort, instead choosing to let his crimson eyes go half-lidded in lazy contentedness. At his side Cream had started to lip at his hair and snuffle his shoulder, a trait she'd displayed whenever she wanted a treat but knew that he didn't have any on him.
