Onora Post 1
Onora never imagined waking up at her old home, with no one else there but herself. She has been back for only about two weeks and her heart wretched for her family. As she sighed and got outside, her eyes adjusted to the sunrise, telling her it was still too early to be up. Since she was taken to Oba, her days started at dawn and it seemed her body just got used to it.
She quickly stretched and her stomach growled. "Time to eat." She said quietly to herself as she got to the little stone oven her father used. She made something simple, since she did not have much, and a sweet aroma filled around the smoke, traveling to the sky. It made her think of the fish her father used to make, with a sweet but tangy jelly spread to go on top.
After she ate her small meal, Onora noticed there was still plenty left. It was one of the things she was terrible at. Proportions. She left it over the warm stove so it wouldn’t get cold, but she didn’t know what to do with it. It was too early in the morning to hand it out to others, especially since almost everyone around her was still asleep.

The broad young matori sighed as put a hand on his grumbling stomach. He had not expected the trip over to this island to take so long... The ship had hit land just before dawn and a ferry to take him to the next island wouldn't be leaving anytime soon. "Who'd be up this early?" He muttered to himself as he looked at the quiet port village. "Where can I get food?" He was no stranger to starving; but that didn't mean he wanted to starve! His eyes spotted a trail of smoke; someone was up! " Maybe they'll feed me.. I can always offer to do some tasks in exchange for the food." He muttered as he trotted off in the early morning light. As he wandered over to the smoke, he saw it wasn't a shop but a house... That made him a bit nervous about interrupting who ever was up... but hunger won out and he knocked on the door.

Onora Post 2Onora sat at the table and stared out the window, wondering who she was going to meet at the shop, and what she was going to make to feed them. As she checked one of the little cabinets, she heard a knock at the door.Who could that be? She asked herself as she walked over to the door. She opened it quickly and was staring at a neighboring Matori. Hi! What can I do for you? She asked the boy standing on the other side. He isn't a bad sight for the eyes, her thoughts raged in her mind.

The first thought Mynshaka had when he saw the girl who opened the door was; she must have been really lucky and well fed. The chunky girl was almost strange to his eyes since he was so used to starved or slim slave Matori. Not that he begrudged her the weight: it meant she hadn't had to go through the pain that he and many others had. "I saw the smoke and hoped I could offer some labor in exchange for food. My ship got in a few minutes ago and I have a while before the next ferry can take me off and I can't find any other open place to get food from this early." Someone her size had to have food! Right? "I'm Mynshaka, but you can call me Shaka. "

Onora Post 3Onora placed a hand on her plump hip and gave a smile to the skinny boy outside her door. Well it's nice to meet you Shaka, I'm Onora. I don't really have much to do around here, just a little weed plucking, but I just made some breakfast, and I have plenty of leftovers. Come on in. She said with a smile as she gestured him in. It was easier to be kind to her race, now that Obans had no hold over them. Before if there was any meeting of Matori, it was silent with fear and sadness.
She walked away from the some-what rotting door and made her way back to her little stove, where that food she left was still warm. Her eyes traveled around her home and she noticed things looked pretty disheveled in here. She remembered how things were when her family was here. Her eyes watered with unshed tears, but she quickly batted them away and started getting his food. After placing it on a leaf, Onora turned to Mynshaka and handed it to him with a smile on her face. Here, eat up. And if you want more, let me know. Her words were warm, glad that someone would be able to eat.

Whoo! Food! Mynshaka thought with a grin. "Thank'ee! I can get to the weeds after food ifn ye want." He looked openly about the house. It was a bit messy, but maybe she'd just gotten back and was still getting things fixed up? Or... maybe she was just messy. He didn't know. He gratefully accepted the food and wolfed it down; manners were for others! He tended to eat quickly and efficiently....though a bit messy! "Ye got family about here?" He asked as he paused in his consumption. The house sounded rather empty to him.

Onora Post 4The curvy girl's eyes went wide as Onora watched Shaka eat ravenously. She gave a nod when he said the weeds would be taken care of. She was glad because she could finally get things to look like home. Maybe while he took care of the outside of the house, she could tackle the inside.
When the male asked about her family, her eyes gave a sad expression. She hadn't actually needed to talk about her family, and it gave a slight pang to her heart. "They disappeared before I came back. Haven't heard anything from my neighbors either, though I miss them... She said as tears began to form. After quickly wiping her eyes, she gave a smile to Shaka. "Though I'm hoping the house would be ready for when they do come home. But how is the food? I like to put my heart in soul into every bite." Onora tried to turn the subject to a lighter one, and turned a sorrowful expression to a proud one.

"Sorry! Sorry!" Shaka said as he put the fork down and reached out to awkwardly pat Onora's shoulder. "Didna mean to upset ye!" Stupid, stupid idiot! He thought to himself, obviously the empty house would mean that her family was gone or something! Shaka did not know what to do with sobbing girls! He was really glad that she pulled herself together and turned to a different topic. "Ahh... foods really good." He gave a relived shaky grin. "Been years since I had home cooked meals... Yers is worth the wait!" Hot food, freshly made from ingredients not scavenged or stolen from the master's waste was indeed a small taste of heaven! To escape the awkward situation he scooted the chair back and cleared his throat. "Want me to go see to the weeds now? It'll be easier iffn I pull them affor the ground hardens."

Onora Post 5A smile grew on Onora's lips. Oh no it's fine. Sobbing isn't going to make anything better. She said with a laugh. When he complimented her food, her head got just a little bit bigger and she was proud. Well thank you! Do put my heart and soul into everything I make. Learned that from my dad!
Once Shaka was finished and scooted back she nodded. Yeah that seems to be a better idea. Let me go show where really needs it. She said as she got up and walked outside. She turned to the back corner of the house where the huge bush of weeds poked out through the crack ground. This is the biggest area, though there are smaller patches on the other side. She said with a apologetic smile. There was a lot of weeds but she could never do it. It either got too hot, or she got too hungry.

He was vastly relieved when she smiled. Girl was made of strong stuff it seemed! He approved; "Cryin' only wastes water. Best to do things instead." He agreed. "Yer Da taught ye well, twas very tasty!" He repeated himself, a little nervous; he really had nothing to chat about with this girl... Only thing he knew was dock work and slavery neither of which were very happy topics... If I knew how to cook, I could at least hold a conversation, he thought to himself. Best I try and do things like learn stuff so I can talk with people about happy things. When she lead him outside he smiled. "This I ken do. Though ah..." He looked around. What was a weed and wasn't? " Ken ye tell me which'ns are they weeds and which ye dinna want em pullin'?" He blushed at this; once he knew plants he was certain of it. He could recall at least going food hunting with his father.. he just couldn't recall what those plants had been!

Onora Post 6Onora gave a smile when Shaka complimented her food. She laid a hand on her hip as she recalled the days when her father would make a gumbo that got the whole neighborhood together. It was a simpler time, before Obans took control.
When she heard Shaka ask which ones were weeds and which weren't, she smiled. Of course I can. She said as she pointed to some smooth leaved stems. The ones that look like this, are the good ones, but the ones that are fuzzy like those, She said as she pointed to the weeds, those are the nasty weeds that keep trying to terrorize my house. She said with a chuckle.

MissBelikov sorry for the slow tags, my Shaka muse is being a butt... He looked at the fuzzy one near his foot and bent down to pull it out. It had a faint scent he recalled rather vividly. "Oh.... Pa used to gather these and boil em.... Ye sure they're weeds?" He put it down and ran a hand over the hard calluses on his palm to get rid of some tiny spines. The fuzzy wasn't completely fuzzy; the fuzzy was slightly spiny. Mind you, the soups hadn't tasted too great but he'd never gotten sick while eaten it and it had filled the stomach. He looked at the other plant; it looked a lot easier to pick and had no spines hiding in the fuzz. "What're are they?" He pointed at the ones he wasn't supposed to pick.

Onora Post 7Onora nodded. Yeah, they are the lil pests, and they bring those nasty bugs. The only thing they are good for is keeping the flying creatures away. They canbe eaten though, so I'm guessin your Pa used them when needed. She said as she looked to the other plants. Those are herbs that help heal cuts and bruises when eaten. My Pop called them Sithin, though I doubt it's the real name. She said with a laugh. Her family didn't have much education, especially since her dad was just a cook.
If you'd like, I can make a drink for you while you do this. It's the least I can do after you agreed and was so polite ov'r my food. She said with another chuckle.robot kitten Oh it's okay, I understand. Just as long as it doesn't get forgotten, I have no problem waiting lol

MissBelikov I won't forget! I has a list where I keep all my ongoing rps in "They bring in pests?" Guess that's why they're weeds and not grown for food, he thought to himself. " And why not call em Sithin? Iffn that's what he calls it, that's its name! Names only really there for ye to tell others something and they know what yer talking about." He said as he crouched down and began to methodically pull the spiny ones out and toss them off tot eh side. "Ah wouldna mind a drink after a while. But ye mind staying here and chatting? Tell me what's happened on the isles as Ah've been gone a while? Like any news of us getting a government or something of our own?" He had been wondering how his people would live now that they were free. Had anyone thought about setting up a government or guard posts against future Oban attempts to reclaim them? Plus gossip and any news from the time he'd been gone would be nice! He wanted to hear about his homeland and the things he'd missed.

Onora Post 8Onora giggled. He did have a point. She watched as he began pulling them out and Onora nodded her head, though she doubt he saw it. I don't mind staying with ya. She said with a smile.
When he asked about a government, she shrugged. I'm not too sure on that. Though I heard from neighbors that something big like that would happen soon. She said before continuing, Which would be such a good thing for our people. While he picked a couple more, she remembered the scene when she came home. It seems a lot of us are even more connected. When I got home myself, everyone was there showing affection, though some I didn't even know.
She wondered how much longer Shaka was in Oban territory, and before her mind could stop her lips, the question busted out. How long were you in Oba? And, if ya don't mind me askin, how was your troubles through it?She recalled having a sensible master, who wouldn't abuse them, though he would threaten to take her rations away. But after coming home, she heard much rougher stories; ones that made tears form.robot kitten Sorry it took a while. I usually am attached to my laptop lol
