She was never one to think she could solve her problems by reading, but this was truly a case where practicing wasn't getting her places. Claude figured it couldn't hurt to do some reading. Some actual reading. Reading Treasure Planet for the umpteenth time didn't count as productive in terms of being a Sun. Thus she picked out a few books regarding training and stuff having to do with Sun, and took them to the library desk. Her continually unimpressed lidded gaze fell on the hunter at the circulation desk, who definitely seen better days, but she didn't pay him much mind after that. Instead she placed the two books onto the desk in front of him. "I want to check these out."

Ever wasn't usually sallow, sitting behind the counter with heavy bags behind his eyes. In truth, they didn't usually have him on checkout duty -- instead sending him in an endless cycle of picking up abandoned books and putting them back. And perhaps it would have been wiser to leave him out now, since he wasn't usually cranky, either. He'd had three terse arguments, and couldn't smoke in the library. It meant his normal too-wide grin had faded to something tired and annoyed. This all tallied to something unpleasant for Claude. It meant Ever took the books, then looked up at her -- recognized her -- and then frowned at her. "No."

Claude's neutral expression also dipped into a frown to match Ever's as she stared down at him, and paid him more mind. More mind meant she was analyzing him now, and actually taking him him. He definitely looked rough. With a rough attitude to boot. " Why?"

"I know you." He pointed at her as he said it, thoughtlessly, a finger thrust toward in her direction and his frown deepening. Ever really, desperately needed a cigarette. Maybe he should have taken a twenty minute break to handle that. "I saw the video. So you can come back tomorrow. Before noon. When I'm not here."

One brow quirked up at that. This fool knew who? Oh boy. Oh boy. She could only wonder how, exactly. Her eyes narrowed a smidge as he pointed a finger at her, and she cast her grey eyes down to the offending finger. There was a pause as Claude wondered what the ******** he was talking about-- Oh. Her frown disappeared into something of a slightly exasperated tight lipped look, though her eyes remained lidded. ******** Finn. "When I can check out books doesn't revolve around your schedule, especially when it's because of something that you weren't involved in." Her tone was even and level, like usual, which took out any sting or bitchiness those words might have otherwise had.

"I'm involved. You messed with my girl, so I'm involved." It was almost -- almost -- butch. Ever leaned forward on the counter to take the books and sweep them closer to his side and then pointedly held them out behind him to drop into the returns bin. Maybe he would, yet, put them away. It certain felt final. "Alternately, I'm off in about three hours, and we could talk about it then." And while he looked like s**t, Ever's coat did have intermediate trim. It added some weight to the edge of challenge behind his voice.

******** Cee. She wasn't even here and she was a pain in the a**. She thought with the time that had passed it would have blown over, but apparently not. His girl, huh? Claude wondered if she had been sucking his d**k, and maybe that's why he was so up in arms about it, but, luckily, she kept that thought to herself. For now. That anorexic little p***k was taking her books away too. The trainee repressed the strong desire to roll her eyes as he threatened her. Not out right, but the implication was clearly there. Great. Just what she wanted. More intermediate hazing. "Your girl--" Claude started, her tone dipping into an edge of sarcasm at that 'term of endearment'-- "Was a consenting adult who agreed to a spar outside of the buffer zone. She then didn't know when to call it quits, with both her mouth and the fight, and I finished it." Claude then held out ring covered hand out for her damn books.

"Sparring outside of the buffer zone is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of." This was progress, even if he still sounded annoyed -- and, instead of going back for her books, he leaned forward, one arm swiped across his stomach in a vaguely protective and entirely thoughtless manner. He shook his head at Claude. "A stupid idea that I'm pretty sure was yours. Why would you want to tempt fate like that? For fun? And then you didn't exactly end up in the infirmary, did you."

The corner of her quirked brow twitched, as her patience was considerably thinned when Cee was involved. Damn. That b***h didn't even need to be here and she already felt the annoyance creeping up on her. Claude kept her hand outstretched, even when Ever leaned forward and made a motion with his hand. Her eyes narrowed even more. "You know when you make assumptions, you make an a** of yourself." She informed him. "Sparring outside the buffer zone was the bright idea of another intermediate hunter who is specializing in being a field medic. We were under surveillance, and she was tended to after the spar was over." Claude usually didn't care to inform others, but she figured she might as well straighten this out. There was no telling what Cee would have said, being Cee, and she didn't care to be denied lunch next because someone was ******** a**-hurt about something that didn't concern them. "Anything else you want?" A pause. "Aside from a cheeseburger."

She got a look, dark and distant, while Ever tried not to blanch at the idea of a bloody, dripping hamburger. His fingers tapped out an uneasy pattern against the counter in front of him while he fidgeted in place, obviously uncomfortable with the idea. "...cigarette. Desperately need a cigarette." He hesitated, just a moment, and then stood, just a little shaky on his feet. "You can have them if you mind the desk for three minutes."

Maybe he was a vegetarian. That was a thought in regards to that look he suddenly shot her. Instead, though, her brow stopped twitching and instead rose higher. She then just had to stare at the trainee. Was he in a bad mood because he needed a smoke? Really. Then he gave her...something of a deal. She just stared at him some more, flatly, with that brow still arched high. Cee made even moodier friends. Sigh. Having to watch the desk for this guy who was tweaking out was a bother, considering she didn't deserve this treatment in the first place, but whatever. Claude lowered her hand to instead wave it a bit. "Fine. Three minutes, and if you're not back, then I'm just taking them." This was something of a surprising turn of events. She was almost expecting it to end in the training field with her a** beat.

"If I'm not back, you'll damned well sit there until I come back." It was cranky, sharp, frowning at her -- and he could pull rank, if he absolutely had to. As Ever rounded the counter, way too skinny, pale, and still holding his side, even if it was psychosomatic at this point, he pointed to his seat meaningfully for her to put her butt in it. "I'll see you if you leave, and I could definitely kick your a**." Slow steps, watching her as he went. "I might yet."

"Not my division." Claude replied, to indicate she didn't give a care about his rank, aside from the fact it meant he'd beat her in a spar. She eyed the trainee as he came around the counter, taking in his appearance, and seriously thinking that even if he was a rank above her, he'd be lucky to remain steady on his feet. Regardless, she rounded the desk after he was gone, and took a seat in the chair he'd been occupying. She crossed her legs, and then crossed her arms, staring up at him. "A warm breeze would definitely kick your a**."

His reply was a simple gesture, a flick of fingers under his chin in an unvoiced <******** you before he disappeared out through the door. At least he was more or less punctual: about five minutes before he came back, a little more composed and smelling strongly of cigarettes. Still not happy, though, his eyebrows knitted together in the middle of his forehead as he gestured Claude out of his chair again. "I still don't like you." Which was exacerbated by the fact his pack of cigarettes was now empty.

Briefly, her lips quirked up in a smirk before he left. Watching the desk, for five minutes, was rather uneventful. It was a slow day, and she couldn't help but think it had something to do with the recent American celebration of Thanksgiving. Oh well, she didn't care. After a minute, she did start leafing through one of the books she was going to check out, and glanced up from the book once the presence, and stench, of the other hunter got her attention. "Good thing I don't care." She replied flatly, and took her sweet time getting up from the chair. She closed the book, collected the other one, and then finally stood. She moved around the desk with the books, and once again, placed them on the desk like before. She then stared at him expectantly.
