The day was dawning slowly, and Satu lay happily in the beginnings of the sun. Light washed the lands and made it seem truly golden at this time of day.
Her ongoing time as a Storyteller had been wonderful and she felt as if the novelty would never wear off. It was what she loved, and spending time with cubs was something she enjoyed thoroughly. They were always so sweet, innocent and full of life.
Not only had she been given her dream role, she had also found a mate! Ishiwa had helped her to grow more into her own skin, and their friendship had blossomed into something else.
Now there was something new on the horizon. Satu looked across the land for a sign of her mate, she had to tell him...The feeling in her stomach was more than just butterflies.

Ishiwa never missed a date with his loved one, and he padded up to find her almost as she was thinking about him, smiling warmly in greeting. He walked up to her and nuzzled her in greeting, chuckling warmly as he did so. He could not help being happy every time he saw her.
She was always a new and wonderful surprise to him, somehow. The feeling that bubbled up in him just knowing that she wanted to be around him, wanted to be with him, was enough to make him forget anything bad that might have happened recently.
Not that anything had. Ever since meeting the Storyteller, his life seemed to have fallen into a peaceful place.
"How are you doing this morning, Satu?" He asked as he flopped down to sit near her, eyes wide and a big dopey smile on his face. He saw that she seemed to be in a good mood, too, though there was a kind of electricity in the air that he could not quite put his paws on.
Maybe she had something to tell him.

"Ishiwaaaa!" She almost sang his name as the male approached. He was so sweet in his slightly bumbling nature... It was something about him that she had come to utterly adore.
"How are you?" She didn't want to come straight out with it, this was a momentous moment after all, something to be treasured. It was part of their story, and now their story was going to extend, carry on, and possibly reach new and exciting places.
There was also a strange sense of sadness, just a tinge, that she would never admit to. Having a family here meant that she would likely never leave. Once upon a time she had dreamed of tentatively stepping foot outside the pride, to gather her own stories and to make new ones.
She supposed that would never happen now, but that was more than okay.

Ishiwa smiled brightly as she called to him and once they were both settled he bumped against her, nuzzling her affectionately just because he could. He was a very warm and affectionate guy, after all, and he liked being in contact with the ones he cared about. Literally, sometimes, like with her.
He was over his shyness by now, and just delighted in being near her.
"I'm in a pretty good mood, though I couldn't say why! It's just a good day, I guess. I'm not about to complain about that kind of thing though! Random good moods are okay by me. How about you?"
She looked a little sad to him, he noted, but only for a moment. Still, it was enough to get him worried, and he bumped her nose with his.
"Are you okay? Did something bad happen?"

"It is a good day." Satu purred in agreement. Though Ishiwa did not seem so shy anymore, he was still rather sweet and their relationship had blossomed into something more than the awkward sweetheart stage, though he was undeniably her first love.
The lioness would be content if he was also the last.
"Nothing bad, no." She said quietly. "Just.. different."
She didn't want to keep him in suspense any longer, nor did she want to worry him, so instead she asked a poignant question.
"Did you ever want to be a father?" He eyes were wide now, and looked up at him with both curiousity and slight concern. What if he said no?

Ishiwa smiled at her affectionately, his tail bouncing on the ground lightly in his state of leisure. He was very happy with her company, and he wanted her to be there with him as long as she could deal with his goofiness.
But he also wanted her to feel happy and at peace, like he was, so he was worried about her at the moment.
The question was surprising, though, and he did not immediately put together why she would ask him something like that. Instead, he just answered as honestly as he knew how, as he always did. Thankfully, he was just as positive about it as he was most other things in his life.
"I've always wanted to be a father! Well, not always, but certainly once I was old enough to realize it was something I could not only do, but do well. I think I would be a good dad! I might not be the best with cubs, but I think I just haven't been around them enough. I do like them."
He chuckled, tilting his head at her.
"Do you want to be a mother?"

Satu was relieved by her mates reply - it was something that had been bothering her for awhile. As a couple, the idea of having a family hadn't been one that was raised and discussed, so she was a little in the dark. Being a relatively young adult, she hadn't really entertained the idea much herself before, but there was obviously a greater need now.
"I'm glad you like them, they are sweet, aren't they?" The storyteller felt apprehensive for a second. It was really unfair to leave him in the dark for much longer so she supposed she would just have to come out and say it. Smiling up at Ishiwa she nodded gently. "Yes, I do, and right now, I don't think either of us have much choice..."
Perhaps not the best choice of words, though she meant no bad by them, and they were accompanied by a huge grin.
