Slap. Pop, pop, pop.
Slap. Pop, pop, pop.
That was the sound that Cecaelia was not only making, but enjoying, each time she attached her tentacle-like tail onto a rock and then pulled it off. Her tail was a lot like her mothers. Of course, he brother Darkling also had a similar tail, so it wasn't super special, but she didn't care, it was neat. Probably the best part, at the moment, was the sound that it made whenever it attached and then unattached from an object. Certainly it would have more uses to her as she grew but right now it was all about being thoroughly entertained by it.
Slap. Pop, pop, pop.
She giggled and then let out a sigh. As fun as this was she wanted to do something. Casting her gaze around she spotted her brother Drakon not far off. Trotting over to him, Cecaelia came up beside him and slapped his side with her tail, and then pulled it off creating another chorus of popping sounds. "Let's do something!" She suggested to her brother. Surely they could find something to do while the adults of the herd were busy doing whatever it was they did each day.

Adult certDrakon was bored, so..so bored and in his boredom he was attempting to find amusement by tormenting ants, using his claws he kept scratching furrows in the ground before peering closely to watch as the bugs tried to find a new way through. It was about as fun as it sounded - so not much.
However it was enough to keep him focused enough that he didn't notice his sisters approach until she slapped him with her tail and he grimaced slightly as her tentacles sucked themselves off his skin. So weird...but then he couldn't really judge her, I mean... he had claws. Making a face at her for her stunt he decided not to fuss at her since she was offering the chance to go and do something. Surely it would be more fun that what he had been doing. "Okay, what do you want to do?"

Her gaze turned down for a moment to see what Drakon was up to. On closer inspection it looked like he was teasing a bunch of ants. That made her smile for some reason. Of course her attention snapped back up to her brother when he asked what she wanted to do. "Well I don't know." She said with a sigh. Honestly she had been hoping that Drakon would have some idea of what to do because she couldn't think of anything, and that's why she had been playing with those rocks earlier. If Drakon playing with the ants was any indication, then it was obvious her brother was bored as well.
"We could go exploring or something?" She suggested. Granted it wasn't much of a suggestion but maybe one idea would lead to another and then they would have something fun to do before too long. She glanced around for a moment but didn't see their brother Darkling around, maybe he was off with their grandmother or something. With another sigh she turned back to Drakon. "I don't care what we do, I'm just bored."

Drakon considered for a few moments, his head tipping slightly to the side as he pondered. Technically they weren't really supposed to go off exploring on their own very far - but then if they ere together then they weren't really 'alone' now were they? Sure it might be a bit of a stretch of the rules but it was good enough for Drakon.
"Well..." He told his sister slowly "I did hear the adults talking about a grove of trees tot he north, apparently there are some baby deer there - that might be neat to see." He stated, it might not be the most interesting thing in the world but it was probably more interesting then hat they were doing here and he thought his sister might like to see a baby deer, thus far they had only ever seen adult deer.
"But we would have to go now to make sure we get back before they notice we were gone ." He told his sister, glancing around to make sure no adults were currently in sight.

Going to look at some baby deer sounded interesting enough. It was a start at least, and maybe they would find something else to do along the way, or something else to look at that was more interesting. "Okay." She said, though there wasn't a whole lot of commitment behind that word. But honestly she couldn't think of anything for them to do at the moment either, boredom had a way of making decisions hard.
Of course hearing Drakon mention that they had to be quick to get there and back before the rest of the herd noticed was what truly caught Cecaelia's attention. The filly got a mischievous smile on her lips. She couldn't explain it, but the idea of pushing the boundaries and maybe even getting in trouble for wandering off seemed oddly appealing to her. "Let's go." Now she was energized to go out on this little adventure, and it wasn't because she would get to see baby deer, though that would be a nice bonus.

At first it didn't seem like his sister was all that interested in his plan and Drakon started to ponder what else they could go and do but it seemed that she warmed up to the idea, her excitement growing the more she thought about it - well, good, that meant he didn't have to come up with anything else. "Okay." He told his sister in a quiet voice so as not to attract any unwanted attention.
Sidling closer to her he glanced furtively around. "we are going to have to go into the woods and then sneak around the rest of the herd, they won't let s go if we get caught and if we walk through the clearing thy are sure to ask us what we are up to - so its best to just sneak around them completely." He told his sister in a knowing tone, as though this was something he did on a regular basis and he knew what he was talking about. He didn't - but it was important to seem like he did.
"Come on!" He whispered to his sister before trotting towards the woods and with one last look around to make sure no adults were watching slipping into the undergrowth.

As her brother began to explain just how they would pull off this little adventure without getting caught Cecaelia nodded her head, but she was only half listening. Already she was thinking about what else they might possibly find out there once they had managed to sneak past the adults of the herd. There was a whole world to explore out there, and from what she had overheard the adults talk about the chance to see even just a small piece of it was well worth the risk of getting caught and punished. Speaking of which, Cecaelia attempted to focus more on what her brother was saying. It made sense. "Good idea." She told him with a grin.
Cecaelia too glanced around before hurrying after her brother, but so far there was no sign of the adults nor of their other brother, so the coast was clear. The great thing was they had their small stature on their side and could easily hide among the underbrush if needed. "How far away is it?" She whispered once she caught up to Drakon.

Drakon pushed his way through the undergrowth, carefully watching where he stepped to avoid making to much noise. He thought they were doing pretty well, being all stealthy and tactical like as the made their way through along the outskirts of the clearing. No one would know they were there, they were like spies or something! Which was a thought far more exciting then seeing a baby deer.
"I don't know." He whispered back to his sister, turning to glance at her before continuing on his way "But it can't be all that far if the adults pass by it all the time and from the way they were talking they do." He assured his sister - I mean if they could make it there and back a bunch then surely h and his sister cold do it, adults were slow, thy always wanted to walk everywhere - once they were far enough away from the clearing he and his sister could trot or run which was way more fun as far as he was concerned.

In a way Cecaelia was glad to know the fawns weren't too far away, and yet she was hoping this would truly be an adventure, pushing the boundaries of where they should be going. Well, she supposed she couldn't have everything she wanted at once. After all, this was only their first little adventure trying to outsmart not only their parents but the whole herd. She decided to look at this as more of a trial run than anything else, if they could get there and back without being caught, then next time they would go even further. They may get caught at some point, but Cecaelia was curious to know how far they could get before any adult got wise to their shenanigans.
"Good, I want to see them." She whispered back to her brother as they continued along. She tried to step where he did and kept an eye on the ground for any sticks that might break under her hoof and give them away.

Of course his sister wanted to see them, why would he have suggested it if she wouldn't? Drakon thought to himself proudly, never mind that he had been worried she wouldn't have been interested just a few short minutes ago, since shew was now and it had been his idea then he thought he was justified in being proud of the suggestion.
Pausing his ears flicked slightly, listening ever so carefully for any signs of an adult, if he had guessed correctly they should be close to safety, at the very edge of where the adults normally roamed in their daily grazing. After a few moments of silence he looked back at his sister and gave her a jolly grin before bursting forward at a swift trot, now that they were less likely to get caught they could move faster and find these deer. "I think we should be okay now." He called back to her, though he still took care not to shout to loudly, the herd might not be close enough to hear them talking but someone would almost certainly hear a bunch of yelling.

Seeing the grin on her brothers face gave Cecaelia a zap of excitement. They were sooo breaking the rules and she loved it. As Drakon dashed out of their cover Cecaelia also raced out, letting out a bit of a laugh. She was so excited that she couldn't help but leap around a bit as she raced to catch up to Drakon. "How many do you think we will see?" She didn't care if it was one or a hundred...okay that was a lie, she totally wanted to see tons of baby deer, but she's be happy with one as well. Mostly she just liked this little adventure.
Catching up to her brother she nipped his shoulder playfully. The idea of any adults coming upon them was way in the back her mind now. Too bad Darkling couldn't have come along, but she wasn't sure if he would have wanted to come along...maybe next time.

"I've herd that deer run in herds of thousands!" Drakon bragged to his sister, although in truth he was pretty sure that the story he'd heard that from was actually pretty fake..but it sounded cool so whatever, besides he hadn't promised her that they would see thousands of deer, just that he had heard they had big herds.
Leaping away from his sisters n**, a move which let her get ahead of him Drakon took a n** at her haunches in return. Once they got closer he supposed they would have to slow down again to keep from scaring the deer away..but at the moment he was just happy to be out and having fun somewhere other then the incredibly boring meadow they were normally made to play in. The meadow had been fun when he and his siblings had been younger but now that they were older it was getting kind of dull. Speaking of interesting things the little colt noticed a fallen log in their path. "I bet you can't jump it!" He challenged his sister as they raced towards it.

"Wow!" Was all she could say to that. Imagine that way deer all in one place. They must have to move around a lot or else they would eat up all the grass in like a day. She's couldn't even really imagine what thousands of deer would look like. How would you even count that many? Well it didn't matter, she would figure that out when they found the herd - if the herd was that big of course. Even so, she was just excited to see some deer, especially the babies.
Feeling the n** on her haunches Cecaelia couldn't help but kick in reflex, though there wasn't a lot of force behind it. Silly brothers. Hearing his challenge Cecaelia eyed the log. It was pretty big, but she wasn't about to turn down a challenge either. "I bet I can!" She called back. "And I bet I can do it better than you can." Not wanting to give him a chance to up the odds anymore Cecaelia increased her pace, she had to clear this log or she'd likely never hear the end of it from Drakon, and if she was going to make the jump them speed had to be on her side.
The log was coming up fast, Cecaelia was ready for it! She was determined to make it. She forced her legs to put all the power she could muster behind the jump. Her front legs made it over, then her belly, but then her darn back hooves clipped the top of the log. With a squeal of surprise Cecaelia tumbled to the ground, rolling several times before coming to a stop.

If Cecaelia was determined to clear the log then Drakon was doubly so - I mean he couldn't issue a challenge and then fail it himself, that would be horribly embarrassing and so when his sister sped up she was quick to do the same, using his strangely clawed front feet to really dig into the ground and propel himself forward, he had almost caught his sister when they finally reached the log and at first it seemed like she was going to clear the log but right before he went to take off himself it all went wrong and his sister was flipping through the air with a terrible squeal!
He was far to close to stop himself without crashing into the log but he didn't want to jump and land on his sister either - or worse, crash like she did! Once more his strangely clawed feet came in handy and rather then jump Drakon dug in with his claws, slowing himself down enough that he could scramble to the top of the log rather then jump over it, with bark scattering in every direction he managed to, just barely, stop on top of the log before jumping down to land safely beside his sister. Worried for her he rushed to her side and nosed her gently "Cacaelia!"

At first Cecaelia didn't move. She hadn't been expecting a tumble and while the landing hadn't been all that hard she knew not to get up right after. If she was injured it would only make it worse to immediately get on her hooves, at least that's what her parents had told her once. Slowly she let her body relax. There wasn't any pain beyond a few spots that would likely be bruised and sore for a day or two. She had been very lucky.
Hearing her brother scramble over the log Cecaelia lifted her head at his prodding. It was then that she began to laugh. "I told you I would make it over that log!" She said as her laughter grew. To show him that she was okay Cecaelia got to her hooves and then gave her body a shake to rid her pelt of the dirt and debris that got on there from her tumble. It might not have been the best jump, and far from the best landing, but she had indeed jumped the log, which Drakon had merely climbed over it. With her laughter now subsiding Cecaelia gave her head a shake. "I'm alright." She said. "We can still go see the baby deer." Because even a tumble wouldn't stop her from seeing them.
