Gotham's GCPD headquarters-

(currently closed to new players. Open to Skuld HJG, Crystal, Sapphire, Soulless and Myself. Will update and open to other players when needed. Please ask before jumping in. I am back Rping personally and don't want all my hard work writing and making plans for my characters with other members to have them being spoiled by random unnecessary action, drama and god-modding.)

(Enter Skye from Gotham)

The young SHIELD agent drove closer to the main Headquarters for the Gotham City Police Department, decelerating to get back to the speed limit (and calm her britches down). When Skye was reasonably sure that she lost any possible pursuit, she kept driving until she found what she was looking for: she found a direct street that not only faced the police HQ, but was also in sight of one of their Wi-Fi tower on top.

Skye parked on the street, lock the vehicle, and slid in the back. Quickly powering up the mini-cray computer supplied by the intelligence agency that employed her, the hacker swiftly got into the Gotham City mainframe and remotely turned on the Bat-Signal.

Next, Skye typed out a message, had it printed out, and stuffed it into a D.W.A.R.F. Prepping the tiny stealth drone for flight, Skye opened a small safe like door in the bottom of the van, placed the drone inside, and closed the door. Once the drone was active and checking on the motion sensors, Skye dispatched the drone when the coast was clear. Within half a minute, the cloaked drone made it's way near the roof of the building facing GCPD's roof. Skye maneuvered the drone to set in a crennel between a pair of merlons of the building's edge which resembled the top of a castle wall. The SHIELD agent used a split screen to show the police HQ's roof in both normal lighting and in infrared, and then waited.

Red Hood was on top of a rooftop water tower in the near vicinity of the Bat Signal. Above and away from view, he crouched down and observed the top of the GCPD headquarters, as no one was on the roof in the first place to turn the Bat Signal on or off.

His eyes narrowed as he watched and waited. No Commissioner Gordon. No one from the Bat-Family. No one was there, or at least not yet.

Hood didn't exactly have the high-tech toys and gadgets like his old mentor, so he couldn't adequately scout the area, but just because he didn't have high-tech gadgets doesn't mean he has no gadgets at all.

Red Hood reached into his back pocket and pulled out a small microphone, magnetically charged on the back, and threw it towards the Bat Signal, bugging the immediate area of the GCPD rooftop.

After the bug magnetically stuck to the Signal, Red Hood pulled out a small radio to listen to any sounds or voices the microphone could pick up.

A member of the GCPD went out to try to figure out why the Bat-Signal had turned itself on and kept looking around. Nothing seemed to be there, others had come out and began searching as well. One of them accidentally knocked over the cloaked drone over the wall and tumbling down towards the ground. "Anything? One of them asked. "Nothing. It seems like the signal just turned itself on." Another stated, though noting the vehicle that was sitting around it wasn't one of theirs, but then who's was it?. "Go check down there, see who owns that vehicle." They stated getting a nod from the others and one of them went downstairs and outside of the building before knocking on the van's window getting Agent Skye's attention and gesturing for them to roll down the window.

After trying to get the DWARF back up, Skye jumped at someone knocking at her van window. Glancing at the external view, the SHIELD agent cursed when she saw it was a cop, Great... just what I need... Fortunately, the dusky agent remembered her cover story and her license plates. Climbing up to the cab from the back curtain, Skye was already into performance mode. With a slight raising of her eyebrows and allowing her face to feel like it's hanging on her face before emerging from the back giving the illusion of fatigue, Skye slides into the seat and rolls down the window, "Is there a problem officer? I was just taking a nap. Had a long drive from Milwaukee and the hotel going to... wasn't what I thought it was. Felt safer in my van. I did read the sign right that I can park here at this time, right?" Skye gave a nervous smile to the cop to sell the point that she was a young woman by herself.

.........................

(Enter Firestar from ... elsewhere in Gotham)

Angelica was freezing. The mutant woman was airborne, but was subduing her fiery aura while trailing her boyfriend. A couple of times, Firestar lost track of Red Hood, but her experience in teaming up with Spider-Man in the past helped her keep up. Once in sight of GCPD, like Jason she didn't see anyone on the roof. Then when a couple of cops came out to inspect the Bat-Signal, "Gee... That isn't suspicious. Hey J, does this smell like a trap... Hey, what was that?"

Firestar saw some sparking from the drone as it got smashed accidentally. The DWARF was receiving signals but with the malfunction -- it was unable to fly, sparking from the attempts to re-cloak....

Hope that helps.

(That should give Jason a reason to go check the van and ask Skye what's up.)

"Why would you park here? There are other places around a lot safer, come inside and we'll try to contact a hotel to put you up for the night." The officer that knocked on the window asked trying to help her get to a safer place. "Shut off the signal, we don't want the bat or one of his kids showing up only to be told it was malfunctioning." One of the officers still on the roof said as they turned off the Bat-Signal. Suddenly a Bat-Wave signal started transmitting through one of Jason's gadgets, seeming to come from both the van that was below them, and from some far away location.

Jason focused on the two policemen as he heard their voices through the mic he just planted. Shortly after, he heard Starfire shivering her way through the cold air towards him, and looked over his shouler to see Angelica pointing out her thoughts on the empty rooftop.

"The cops aren't the ones who turned on the signal." He replied to her, briefing her on his findings. He stood up straight, still facing the GCPD building. He was about to turn to Firestar when she mentioned hearing a noise, causing him to look in the direction of the drone's location.

"A drone.." He spoke quietly in realization. He started processing all the information in front of him in the span of seconds, remembering all the criminology and detective lessons he received from Batman.

The signal was activated, which means someone is trying to draw out the Bat, or some other member(s) of the Bat-Family that they know is currently residing in Gotham. The GCPD isn't involved, and there happens to be an unidentified drone nearby, which means this person wants to get the Bat-Family's attention, and give some sort of message without revealing their identity.

Jason looked over and around the streets near the building and noticed an officer of the GCPD talking to someone in a van through the vehicle window.

"Hey babe, go take a look at that drone for me; see if you can find out why its here." He said to Firestar, as he then looked back over to the van.

"I'll be down by that van if you find something." He stepped away and ran, jumping on the rooftops, heading to the van's location. As he got closer, he leaped behind the cop talking to the van's occupant, and shoved the butt of his pistol hard into the policemen's temple, knocking him unconscoius.

Now looking through the van's window at the woman, Jason kept silent, letting his body language show that he wanted some answers, as he awaited an explanation for the suspicious ruse in front of them. As he was standing there, he recieved a Bat-Wave transmission that was coming from the van right in front of him. Jason looked at the gadget, and back to the girl. He sighed in exhausted realization "s**t. You need my help, don't you?"

The officer was rendered unconscious when Jason hit them with his gun as the Bat-Wave in the van turned after a moment leaving only the signal that was coming from somewhere on the other side of Gotham.

Firestar flew over to the drone, after the police officers re-entered the building. The mutant recovered the device, and put it in a small bubble of microwave energy -- just in case it was a booby trap. Firestar then flew back onto the other building to await word from her boyfriend.

...............

Skye had smiled warmly at the kind officer and nodded, "Thanks Officer. I really appreciate it. Have a heater on in here. Let me turn it off, and I'll go with you." No sooner had Skye turned around, she heard a 'thunk' against her van, "Hey! What the..."

The SHIELD agent's voice died in her throat, as she found herself staring at the crimson masked Red Hood. Feeling like a deer-in-headlights, Skye quelled her instinct to draw her gun. She did slightly key up her supernatural power to vibrate molecules -- if she needed to use it. Hearing Jason's words, Skye realized that she wasn't about to be jumped, "Yeah... I need your help. Figured there would have been too many questions, if I just strode into Gotham City Police Headquarters. Court of Owls are after me and my partner. Is ... Is the police officer going to be alright?"

Red Hood crossed his arms. He looked over to Firestar's whereabouts on top of the nearby building, and motioned his head in a 'come over here' sort of fashion, and then faced the woman once more.

After she asked Jason about the unconscious policeman lying knocked out on the ground, he looked down at the man, and then back to the girl. Jason was faced with a dilemma in his own mind whether to help the woman and her partner or not. Red Hood has never been the 'hero' type; the days of Jason Todd being the self-proclaimed hero, Robin, were over. Part of him wanted to give the fabled Court credit where it is due and just let it be understood that her partner is as good as dead, and she might as well start picking out a coffin too.

"He'll be fine." referring to the unconscious cop, "He's just unconscious. He'll wake up in an hour or so and dismiss this as a weird occurence and nothing more. He might not even remember talking to you."

At that time, it seemed to Jason that none of the other Family members were going to show up. Pity. Looks like he was gonna be this woman's only hope.

"Here's the thing, ma'am. I'm not the Batman. I don't do pro bono cases. Unless you have some unbelievably deep pockets, I can't say that I'll be willing to go head-to-head with the maniacs in the Court of Owls for you."

Hey, being a viglante doesn't put food on the table. If this lady wants the Red Hood to go up against a force even more feared than the Batman, the goddamn Court of Owls, she's gonna have to pull out her credit card.

Some other officers began to walk out towards the van curious as to why the guy they sent out hadn't returned yet.

"Mercenary, huh? I'd have to make a call, but we might be able to come to an agreement -- especially if you are who I think you are... Ohh," Skye saw Firestar hover down into view with the drone in hand, "Found your little toy."

Skye laughed a little nervously, before continuing, "Yeah. Look, can we go toward the Docks Ward. Daniel's signal dropped off the grid right by book repository."

The Bat-Wave Signal was still going coming from across the city of Gotham though faint, Jason could track it even though Skye couldn't. Just then another officer began walking in the direction of where Jason, Skye, and Angellica were currently located, along with the unconscious cop that Jason had knocked out.

Jason looked down to the beeping gadget showing the Bat-wave signal. Showing a map of where the signal originated, Jason saw and memorized the location of the beacon. He looked back to Skye as she continued. He wanted to ask who she believed him to be, however he understood time was of the essence. He saw the other cop walking toward them and figured it was time to go, regardless of what the situation looked like.

"Fine by me. Firestar, we need to move." he looked to the fiery redhead floating near him as he said this and then looked back to Skye. "We'll talk the exact amounts of payment later, right now we need to get to your friend. I have the coordinates, meet me here."

Red Hood tossed the beeping gadget through the window of the van and into Skye's lap, and then quickly ducked away, silently working his way back up to the building rooftops in seconds.

User Image Skye brushed her hair over her ears, while taking a gander at the location on the map, and nodded, "Alright Cochise, I'll see you there. I'll call my boss enroute, letting him know what is going on." With that Skye got into her van, and started it up. Taking a moment to make sure nothing was left in her van that doesn't belong, Skye started it up and then proceeded to drive to the location. They'll get there before I get there. Oh well..., Skye interrupted her musings by turning on the Bluetooth, "Skye to Coulson, I have a tale for you..."

......................

After the van pulls off, Firestar voiced her opinion, "That woman is an agent. For whom, I'm not exactly sure... But she left her drone..." Angelica wasn't sure, if this was a trap or ... a show of faith. The drone opened, and Firestar was ready to raise a shield to protect Jason and herself -- but sees the note. Taking a moment to read it, Firestar speaks again, "Okay, no boobytrap... She IS asking for help in this note. Well, anytime you're ready, let's go."

When Jason takes off for the Owls' hideout, Firestar follows mentally preparing for anything.
