The wind was sweeping across the snow laden landscape of the mountains, it was enough to send the dark tresses of the usdia swaying across her vision; peering out at the thinning trees. Her pelt shook lightly as the snow hit it at not a painful speed but it was enough to keep ticking her from the small pings of large flakes. Luckily it seemed the storm would just miss her, dark clouds shifting just opposite of her; but it still left a cold wind and snow...but at least it wasn't a blizzard.

It was hard to imagine why an Usdia, one from a temperate rainforest would be up on such a hellish terrain for someone so small. Jahzara wasn't here for sight seeing, oh no, there was method to her questionable madness.

"Jahzara why are we heeerreeee..." Dove groaned, the wolf who was nearly her size had nestled herself on the other side of her rather fearless sister. While she was thankful for her pelt it was definitely not thick enough for being up here; accustomed to life down on the coast with her family. As much as Dove didn't want to be here, she couldn't allow her big sister to go on this self finding journey alone. They'd been inseparable since birth, she'd even been named by Jahzara! The best friends forever - sisters version; so as much as Dove would complain - she wouldn't be leaving to go back to the comforts of home and family. "Aren't you cold? You have less fur than I do!"

"Dove, you didn't have to come." Jahzara gave her baby sister a pointed look, even if it had no bite to it; both girls knew. "Especially if you are going to complain the whole time. I told you, a proper alpha has to be able to thrive in every extreme, just in case. How bad of a leader would I be if I couldn't handle some cold?" She huffed, cool eyes looking around to see if there was a cave nearby or some kind of hollow. As much as she was fine, Dove on the other hand might turn into some kind of wolfcicle if she didn't find shelter.

...which would have been easier said than done if the snow wasn't up to her belly; drifts slightly large than her in certain areas.

It was still mid day, or so she assumed; her internal clock was pretty accurate but the storm covering the skies at this altitude had thrown her off a little. They would at least have time to find something before the drop in temperature come nightfall.

"And furthermore..." Jahzara snorted, her wings braced tightly to her side to conserve heat; a grin crossing her lips. "We should be more concerned about predators in this area; they were built for this weather where as we're shuffling through all this powder..." She chuckled, nudging the wolf at her side as she let out a yip.

"Jahzara! Don't even joke about that!" Dove shuddered, knowing if anything had attacked them she would be their only form of defense...and well she was rather poor at it considering her kind were rather proud hunters. Lifting her nose to the air she inhaled deeply, trying to get a lay of what was around them. "Lets just find shelter soon okay?"

What was around them was a large soquili. A very large soquili. He was picking his way through the cold after rumor came that some strangers were trudging through their lands. Their bright colors had been easily witnessed by Fluffy-Fluff, whom was right at home in the heaviest of snowstorms and blizzards. Being a bear, she had ambled home and mentioned it to her brother, whom had taken off immediately at his mother's request. Strangers caught in the mountains were a liability -- there were all sorts of things that could go wrong! Hypothermia was the least of their worries -- one wrong step and down the sides of the hills they could go; an impromptu avalanche; an unexpected dip or protrusion from the hillsides could twist an ankle or break a leg. Besides, these mountain storms were fierce! While the blizzard itself was building a ways away, the storm could still move their way, or another storm crop up with little to no warning.

So it was, the beast of the stallion took off. While he wasn't always the sharpest tool in the shed, he was loyal, and very much so a good one to send among strangers. If they could get past his kalona tail, they might very well find a gentle-giant in their midst. Besides, his size could help cut a trail through the thicker snow drifts. Honestly, winter was his element. . . and his white coat meant he could disappear among the snows if an encounter turned unfriendly.

"Hello out there!" His voice could almost be heard. The problem was that the wind ripped the words away, muted them so though he might be close, he was hardy heard, and even less visible. He thought he saw some peculiar colors against the white of the snow -- the problem was, did they see him? Did they hear him? The problem was, Sahaqiel was going against the wind, and had to squint, so even the glow of his eyes was difficult to discern among the storm.

Well, if he had to all but walk upon them, then so be it. It wasn't like he was going to eat them, after all.

"Of course we will. I know my limits..." As much as she hated to confess them, Jahzara knew being too brash was just as bad as being too incompetant when it came to being a leader. She had taken the opportunity of her sister coming along to allow her a feel of managing others, so she did need to consider her sister's welfare on top of her 'training'. Jahzara would find shelter for Dove, and they would rest the night and hope the blizzard would pass in the morning to they could continue on.

Not that she didn't care...but she knew Dove had a bad habit of not being more confident in her abilities. Jahzara had hoped this tough treatment would build some thick skin on her wolfine sister. They had been inseperable since birth, and Jahzara knew if she was going to succeed in being the next alpha of the herd that Dove would have to either learn to take a step back sometime or be just as aware of the hardships as she was.

Yet, there was no more time for that as a voice rang out, barely above the howling wind that she almost didn't catch it at all - and began to question if she truly did.

"Then we should have done so long ago before this blizzard really set in Jah-"

"Sh!" Jahzara snapped, placing her wing over the wolf's mouth to silence her even though it meant allowing the warm pocket of air she'd trapped there to escape to send a chill down her spine. "I hear something. I think.." She whispered as she leaned in close, her eyes scanning the wall of white around her. Looking to Dove in silent question the wolf breathed in and shook her head without a word....in the wind she didn't smell anything.

So, Jahzara kept her eyes downwind, scrutinizing every detail till she saw smidgens of black. It was very very faint...but she knew her eyes wern't playing tricks on her.

Although it could have very well been the black of a tree for all she knew.

"Who goes there!" She shouted in a loud and rather bold voice, one almost absurd sounding to come from such a small female soquili. Her eyes narrowed as she stood her ground in front of her now cowarding sister. "I demand you show yourself, or else I will have you attacked by wolves!" Jahzara bluffed....or well...would have if someone didn't open their big mouth. "Jahzara! I can't attack anything!" Dove hissed rather loudly, earning a huge irritable sigh from Jahzara as she snapped at her sister. "BUT THEY WOULDN'T HAVE KNOWN THAT. Do you know what a bluff is?" She scolded, but kept her eyes trained on where she'd seen a moment of black in the sea of white - so much for that idea. "Hurry up! Show yourself!"

Plan B....assess and run if need be.
