For Nilima, things were good. Better, even. The strange sickness that had plagued her tiny herd for some time had finally gone. She and the other healers were still unsure of how or if the disease still lingered inside the previously infected, but the fact it was gone was celebration enough. As was ordered by the Head Doctor, all the bodies had been burned, far away from their settlement so no one else was harmed. It was deemed far too dangerous to examine the bodies as they were to study the disease more. The way it could spread was far too easy to risk the possibility of the living catching it from the dead. Far as the healers knew, it clung to the body. Like some kind of powder, invisible to the naked eye.

At least that was a theory going around.

The mare walked steadily through the forest, away from the herd. She needed a little break from the atmosphere. While it was very welcoming and more cheerful than she could ever remember it being, she was still worried about the sickness. Everyone celebrating was beginning to annoy her. Was no one else worried? How could they all be so joyful when the sickness wasn't gone, only for a time? She would need to speak to the Head Doctor about this. Maybe suggest some precautions that had been going through her mind the past few days. Like a border watch. Whatever was causing their problems was on the other side of the herd, closer to the peak of the mountain. No one else must be allowed to go that way. Nor to return from that way. A large fence would suffice.
