Race_Of_Glory Sorry.... I had a post done but then it got lost sad That's why I took so long XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Hope was up before her alarm, jumping out of bed and throwing her clothes on before stripping her bed sheets and tossing them into the wash. Hope was all packed up and ready to go, all that was left was to put everything into Eugene, her car. Making several trips from her room out to her car. Hope had packed her car to full capacity, starting with her trunk and then her back seats. Closing her trunk, she wiped the sweat from her forehead This is it.... Freedom... she thought to herself as she heard her mom calling to her. Hope sighed "Yes Mom?" she asked as she made her way up to the kitchen. When Hope walked in the kitchen. Hope was barely listening as the older woman spoke. She fixed herself breakfast and when she was done, she looked up and nodded. She placed her dishes into the sink and kissed her mother on the cheek before giving her a tight hug "I know mom, I'll come and visit as soon as I can... Promise...." she said. Half truth, half lie behind those words.
Once Hope had said her good bye to the rest of her family, she got into her car and turned the key into the ignition, starting it up. With a final wave good bye to her family, she pulled out of the driveway and headed for the apartment Destination... College... she thought to herself as she turned up her radio and sang along. When Hope arrived, she wasted no time parking and getting her things inside. Hope got all her things inside and noticed she was the only one there. She didn't pick a room yet, just left her stuff in the living room and walked around, looking at all the rooms. Wonder who my roommate is.... she thought as she finally decided to plug her nearly dead phone into on of the wall sockets.
Stretching as his alarm went off, he sat up slowly in bed and looked around his empty room. James had taken the entire day yesterday and most of the morning to make sure he had everything. His mom had checked on him six times before she finally went to bed. His father had also come in once to make sure he was okay. The two had talked a bit and they even took down his telescope together. James packed the last few things he had in his room before he heard a knock on the door "Come in" he said as he zipped up a duffle bag. Seeing his dad walk in, James smiled and leaned against his bed "Morning dad" he said. After some small talk, James and his father were taking all his things out to his car. Once the male was all packed up, the two walked into the kitchen to meet with James's mother. The family talked and laughed over breakfast before James helped with the dishes and was ready to be off.
Heading out, he hugged both his parents "I promise to visit one I'm settled! I'll call as soon as I get there and everything's sorted out with my roommates!" he said as he hopped into his car. James turned on his radio and listened to music as he made his way to the apartment. When he arrived, he looked around for a parking spot and found one next to a black Acura. Parking, he got his things and headed up. When he got inside, he saw someone else had gotten there. They had left their things in the living room. James set his things inside one of the rooms before looking around "Hello?" he said, hearing his voice echo in the empty apartment. Wonder who's here.... And when everyone else gets here... he thought to himself as he also explored the apartment. Car|| Hope|| JamesAttire|| Hope|| James

♠ ♣ ♥ ♦Devyn kept glancing at her alarm clock throughout the night when her nose wasn't stuck in her book. She knew she wasn't going to sleep the night before she headed out to her first semester of college, so she'd kept quiet and read. Now that it was time, she placed her book in her purse and got dressed. Taking hold of her necklace, she looked in the mirror and gave herself one last look. This is as good as it gets. Wish you were here mom. Devyn tossed her Backpack over her shoulder and grabbed her things to put them in the car before going back into the house and say goodbye to her foster family. After all the farewells and kisses goodbye, Devyn got in her car. It was an older model and the driver's side door was jammed and didn't open, so she had to get in through the passenger's side and climb over. It was a pain in the butt, but atleast the car functioned correctly. Driving down the highway, she played some classic rock from her playlist until she got on campus. Once she was in park, she took out her phone and dialed. With the phone up to her ear, she looked in the mirror to see if her lip gloss was still intact. She wasn't wearing any makeup. She didn't find the need for it. When there was no answer on the phone, she hung up and got out of the car and towards the room number she had been assigned. When she found the right place, the door was already opened. "Hello?"

❥ • ♫ • ═════════════════════════════════════════════════ •xxxxxxxxxx Derek McKenna hadn't always been in the popular crowd. Through middle school he followed in his step-sister's shadow, letting some of her popularity and style shine on him as well, but it wasn't until high school that he really wanted to make something of himself. He tried baseball and little did he know, he would become a legend. His popularity sky rocketed in high school and everyone loved him. Everyone wanted to be him! He tried to hold onto that innocent church boy that his parents had worked so hard to raise, but slowly and surely, he let it get to his head. It was no surprise to him when he got his baseball scholarship and didn't even need it. He'd been signed up for the Big Leagues and was going places fast. He would get to practice on his college campus and then play the big games right here in his state. It was exhilarating. A lot of people must have been talking about him. Being the only freshman and youngest pitcher in the Big Leagues.
Derek had his things all packed up and was already on campus really early. Practice for the Big Leagues weren't lacking in the least bit. They got started on him right away, so he didn't have time to unpack his things or find his apartment just yet. It wasn't until that afternoon that practice came to an end and he got a chance to breathe. Walking towards his car, shirtless and with a towel around his neck, he drove towards the apartment complex until he found the right building. Stepping out, he locked the car behind him and ran up the stairs until he almost knocked into a blonde in the door way.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Hearing someone say hello, Hope stood and turned. She was headed for the front door when another person said hello Roommates?... she thought to herself as she headed for the door. Hope saw a blonde female in the door way, and a dark haired male nearly running the poor girl over. Then she spotted a small male with light hair smiling at everyone. Looking around the room, she watched as the smaller, thinner male greeted everyone and told them his name. It took Hope a moment before she too started to talk. "I'm Hope..." she said blankly. She shook her head lightly and smiled "Hope Adams.. I'm here for the bachelor of film and television" she said happily. Hope listened as everyone greeted each other, until James said he'd picked one of the rooms already. Hope looked at Devyn "I guess that means we'll be sharing the room opposite the boys" she said with a shy smile.
James was just about to continue searching for whoever had come to the apartment first when he heard someone call hello from the door. He turned on his heels and made his way towards the voice. Once James stopped her, he froze, she was beautiful, and she was one of his roommates? It wasn't until a dark haired male nearly knocked the poor girl over that James realized he should introduce himself. "I'm James. James Hendricks. I'm here for the Chemical Engineering program" he said, nearly slapping himself as he realized how much of a nerd he sounded. No point trying to cover it up now he thought to himself as he heard another female speak. James listened as everyone introduced themselves. Of course the smile on his face never left nor did it shrink. "Oh by the way, me and Derek are sharing the bedroom just before the kitchen when you walk into the hall... I kinda put my stuff in there already... Hope you don't mind" he said as he looked around the room at everyone. Car|| Hope|| JamesAttire|| Hope|| James

Devyn shoved the dark haired male. "I tried calling." She said, sounding irritated. Derek reached into his pocket and checked his phone. "Well you did. But I was still at practice. You know how important that is to me babe." He smiled, before looking over at Hope. "Hi. I'm Derek." When James introduced himself, Derek gave him a slap on the back. "Nice to meet you guys. I'm here on a baseball scholarship. No major yet." Devyn shook her head. "Hey. I'm Devyn. This is my slightly obnoxious step-brother." She nodded to Derek. "I'm here for the psychology and music programs." Devyn was a little over achiever, but she had to be if she was gonna make something of herself. She wouldn't really have time for boys, but she noted how handsome James was. He had to be smart with a major like that too. Turning to Hope, she just gave her a big smile. "Well, I look forward to knowing you Hope, but right now I need a nap." She said, tossing her hair before taking her things to her room across from the boys. Derek smirked. "Don't let her intimidate you. She's got a chip on her shoulder."

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX It was a loud echo of voices and smiles all around. Hope smiled at Derek and nodded when he tried to make her feel more at home. She nodded at him before she too collected her things to take to the room she and Devyn shared. Walking in, Hope saw a single window and two beds on either side of the room. She turned to Devyn "The closest a walk in.. Not too big, but I was hoping the boys wouldn't ask for this room" she said with a small laugh. Hope placed her things on the bed before taking out her wallet "I'm gonna head to a coffee shop, want anything?" she asked the girl before grabbing a small tote to place the wallet in. "I'll unpack later too, when you've napped" she said politely as she headed for the door. Hope spotted the boys in their room and knocked on the door lightly, standing in the door way "Heading out... Can I get you guys anything?.." she asked with a smile.
When Devyn and Derek introduced themselves, James couldn't help but admire Devyn. It wasn't until he felt a hand smack across his back that he snapped out of his daze and turned to Derek. Trying not to wince at the very likely bruise on his back, James beamed at Derek "It's great too meet you too" he said as he watched both the girls head to their room. James turned back to Derek "Come check out the room, I think you'll like it" he said as he brought the bulkier and taller male to their room. Once inside James turned to the sliding door and opened it "Balcony! It's pretty sweet! I face away from the campus so you can see at the city lights!" he said with a grin. "I set up my telescope outside already. It's gonna get a pretty good view from this balcony!" he said in all his nerd glory. James had no shame in being a nerd, he loved chemistry and being geeky. Before James could annoy Derek some more, he heard Hope at the door asking if he or Derek wanted anything. He nodded "A coffee with two cream one sugar please.. Oh and a blueberry muffin!" he said as he finally turned to his things and decided to start unpacking. Car|| Hope|| JamesAttire|| Hope|| James

Devyn jumped on the bed furthest away from the window and tossed her shoes carelessly on the floor. She laid down on her pillow, completely exhausted from not getting sleep the night before. The comment about a walk-in closet wasn't really interesting to Devyn. In fact, she would have been impressed if she had a bigger shelf for all her books. Sighing, when Hope offered Coffee, she just rolled her eyes. "Coffee will just hype me up. I'm trying to wind down. Close the door behind you." She said as politely as she could. She wasn't really here to make friends, but she could get along with people alright with her popularity experience in High School. She'd been the head cheerleader, honor student AND the Valedictorian. It was an honor really. Now to keep her reputation, she had to work harder in college. Turning over on her side, she set an alarm on her phone so she wouldn't sleep for too long.
Derek watched Hope follow after his step-sister before turning back to James. When he led him into their new room, he put his hands on his hips and nodded his approval. "A lot better then I expected. I guess it could be worse." At the mention of the telescope outside, Derek raised an eyebrow at his new room mate and almost wanted to turn tail and run. "I use to shove kids like you into their lockers." He laughed lightly, not trying to come off as intimidating, unlike his sis. Derek could get a little egotistical sometimes, but over all, he was a nice guy. When Hope mentioned Coffee, Derek shook his head. "No thanks. I'll order us all a pizza for dinner tonight though if you like?" Derek wasted no time to get his athlete trophies out of a box and set them up on his shelf. Just like sis, he had a reputation to protect.ooc: Sorry it took so long. I am dealing with a lot of emotional trauma right now.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Hope blinked a few times, she nodded at Derek for pizza, and then at James who wanted coffee, she turned and walked out without another word. What did I get myself into?.... she thought to herself. She walked out to her car and drove around until she found a small place close by. Getting two coffees, she decided to message one of her friends To: Jake I miss you..... My roommate seems like she hates me.... And her step brother is well.... Hot... But He seems like one of the popular kids... I don't stand a chance.... Although he's easy on the eyes.... When can we hang out? She typed before hitting send. Hope got back into her car and drove back to the apartment. She knocked on the boys door and quietly handed James his coffee before heading to the living room to read a book.
When Derek started to laugh and joke about shoving "kids like him" into lockers, James got a tad upset. He watched Hope go before he turned and started to unpack his things. Unlike Derek's bookshelf, James's shelf was covered in science awards and a chemistry set. He continued to unpack until he heard a knock on his room door. Turning James saw Hope, although she only had his coffee, but by the look on her face, he wasn't going to mention the muffin at the moment. "Thanks" he said before sipping it and setting it on his nightstand. James looked at his watch, he had an hour to kill before he had to meet with his chemistry club to discuss the year and the competitions they'd be going to and such. James reached into his back pocket and pulled out his phone. He plugged the charger into a wall socket and placed his phone to charge as he started to make his bed. Devyn had only taken a thirty minute nap. No more and no less. She may not have had enough sleep to get her through the day, but her motivation would compensate for the lack of sleep. She got to work on placing some of her books up on her shelf in alphabetical order and straightening the picture frames on her wall. She then brought a few more boxes full of clothes before she brought in the last thing she needed. Her Violin case. She set the case down on her desk and left it there for the time being. Devyn must have had about half as much clothes as Hope did. At least during the school year, she didn't care too much about fashion. She would be too focused on her studies until the last minute when she needed to impress. She usually went out with a bang too. Devyn finished unpacking. She didn't bring any decorations or personal items with her. She needed room for all her school books, leisure books and music books. The shelf being too small, books were laid out on the desk and eventually ended up on the floor and on her bed when she ran out of room. Yes. Devyn was a scary hot mess. Especially when she got stressed. But during those times, she usually drank a cup of tea....and speaking of....Devyn grabbed one of her psychology books off the shelf and the box of green tea she had brought with her before walking into the kitchen. She noticed Hope had come back, but didn't say anything. She prepared her tea and started reading and rattling off terms in the book. Once the water was finished being heated in the microwave, she placed the tea bag and added four packs of splenda sugar. Taking a sip, she looked over at Hope. A sudden wave of guilt crashing on her. "What are you reading?" She asked.
Derek had his ipod playing AC/DC in his ears while he unpacked. He mostly kept to himself, but had paid a little attention to James when he noticed his awards. Curious, he wandered over to his room mate's shelf to see what they were. "Wow. These are impressive." He said aloud as James was making his bed.ooc: I totally suck at playing jocks....so, perhaps we could pretend the comment about shoving dorks into lockers never happened? xD I think Hope and Devyn not getting along is a good idea, but the boys should get along just fine. What do you think? I apologize for sucking at playing dudes too. ._.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Finishing a chapter in five minutes, Hope lifted her cup of coffee and took a sip before she decided to get something else done. She had a box with a few things she'd bought, kitchen supplies and such. She walked into the kitchen and set the box on the counter. She plugged her head phones into her iPhone and played music. One of Hope's secrets was in fact that she listened to just about any kind of music. As the songs changed, she danced as she placed plates and cups and mugs away into the cup boards. Hope looked around and placed her hands on her hips as she smiled, satisfied with her work. She went back to her coffee and book and decided to finish the book once and for all. Hope hadn't noticed that Devyn had slipped from the bedroom and into the kitchen, but she was on the last two pages of the book. As she read the last few words, she smiled and closed the book before finishing her coffee. She stood just as Devyn asked her what she was reading, looking up at the other, beautiful female, Hope blinked. "Oh.. This?.." she said as she lifted the book to show Devyn the cover "It's City of Glass.. Third book of the mortal instruments series... I'm trying to finish the series so that I can make a better dent in my bookshelf" she said.
The room was silent as the two males started to unpack and settle into their new home. James could hear music playing from Derek's iPod, although he couldn't make out what song exactly, but he assumed it was classic rock by the guitar and drums. James had just finished making his bed when Derek crossed the room to admire his collection of things on his book shelf. James turned and watched the other male inspect his achievements. "Oh.. Yeah... I've been in just about every chemistry club since ninth grade" he said with a slight laugh. "This one" he said pointing to one of the bigger ones "This was from the top student in the sate... I came second that year though.. This other guy beat me.. I forgot how to solve the problem and poof! My nemesis beat me.." he said, laughing at the memory. James turned to look at Derek's shelf, he looked over the baseball trophies until one caught his eye "Is this from the finals?.... One of my science buddies used to play... He told me about this game where this one guy played like a star and that's why they lost the game" he said as he laughed "My buddies face was priceless as he waved his second place trophy.... I mean he wasn't bad at the sport.. But he wasn't that great.. I thought second suited him" he said as he chuckled again. Turning to Derek, he tried to once again figure out what song he was listening to. "Hope you don't mind me asking, but that song... It's familiar.. What is it?" he asked with curiosity. Devyn snorted at the book title. "Poor Cassandra. Awful, over-long, unremittingly dull and failed attempt to start a Twilight-like franchise. Every fantasy creature except zombies get a workout in that overstuffed spectacle about a teenage girl who discovers she has angelic blood in her veins. Besides that..." She paused, realizing she was doing it again. She had her preferences in books and read religiously, she didn't have to trample other people's. "Sorry. The Infernal Devices is ten times better in my opinion." Sipping her tea, she focused her attention back onto the school book on the counter. Going over a few more terms, she finally looked up again. "So what kind of music do you like?" She said, awkwardly trying to make small talk when she really had no interest in what the girl had to say. She had things to do, but she needed a neutral living environment with no tension. She'd be stressed enough with school, so she had to make a little effort to make sure she got along with her room mates at least.
Derek nodded as James explained about the first trophy. Second place or not, you didn't see any nerd trophies on Derek's shelf, so it was a lot to admire. "Well, we don't become champions without making a few mistakes" He said, when James mentioned he had come in second place. Derek wouldn't have gotten on the team in the first place if it weren't for fumbling and falling on his face a few times. He was awful at bat, but when coach figured out he had an arm, he became the team's pitcher, leading them into victory wherever they went. Derek let out a laugh. "A star huh? Was he dashingly handsome? Cause if so, yeah that was me." He laughed again just as the song on his ipod changed. "Oh. It's Thunderstruck by AC/DC. I don't really listen to modern stuff."

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Staring blankly at Devyn, Hope couldn't help but feel slightly out of place and childish. Lifting her empty cup off the counter, she turned back to Devyn and tried her best to smile "Don't sweat it.. Everyone has opinions.. I was trying to finish the mortal instruments before starting the infernal devices..." she said softly. When Devyn turned back to her psych book, Hope quietly slipped into the kitchen and tossed the empty cup into the garbage. She walked to her shared room with Devyn quickly to place her book on her shelf and grab her note pad. Walking back to the living area, she heard Devyn ask her what kind of music she listened to. Hope shrugged "Anything really, from classic to rock to hiphop to trap, dubstep, techno.. You name it.. I'm pretty open about music" she said as she sat across from the blonde and started to write a few things down on her notepad.
When Derek commented on his looks, James chuckled "Not too sure about that part" he said through his laugh. James was starting to like Derek, he seemed like a pretty cool guy, and the comment from before had been completely forgotten. When Derek said it was thunderstruck by ADDC the male's jaw dropped as memories came back. "Man that was our song!" he exclaimed. James laughed "Oh man we had this chemistry club this one year and the hole group insisted that be the song we used when we were being introduced... The judges had a good laugh every time we had a competition!" he said laughing "Just picture these two old dudes and one female all falling over laughing as this group of five nerds.. Mind you we all dressed the part to make it better, I'm talking spinning hats and suspenders, pants pulled up to the waist!" he said as he held his stomach in pain from laughing so hard. "It was pretty bad" he said as he looked at Derek. James felt his stomach growl lightly looking down at it then back up at Derek "Mind if we get that pizza now? I could grab a couple beers too, make it a..." he said looking for the words "Welcome home for the next few years kind thing?" he said as he smiled. Devyn nodded. They were making progress. At least they had two things in common. Reading books and music. Devyn was a little pickier about her taste in music, but knowing Hope was passionate about music, made a small smile play on her face. She quickly wiped it off before the other girl saw and finished her tea when she heard the mention of pizza down the hall. "Hawaiian for me!" She called out to Derek. Returning back to her book, she moved over to the couch and sat on it....sorta. Her feet sat on the back of the couch while her hair draped down to the floor. She had slight A.D.D sometimes, so when she lost interest she'd move to a different position. "How do you feel about the violin?"
Derek was holding his sides from laughing so hard. James wasn't like any other nerd he'd ever met. In fact, James knew he was nerdy and embraced it. That was admirable. "Man. I couldn't imagine the baseball team doing something like that." After a moment, his eyes grew wider. "But what if we did?" He arched an eyebrow, before laughing again. "Could you imagine nine manly men walking out onto the field to "Single Ladies" playing in the background?" When James stomach growled and asked about pizza, Derek was happy to oblige. "No problem. Food and me, we just get along. No matter the time of day." When Derek heard his step-sister call out, he grabbed his wallet and wandered off into the kitchen. "Well what does everyone want? It's on me." ooc: I wish I knew myself. This random girl had a bunch of layouts and characters open to whoever wanted to use them. My layouts are usually plain :3

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX When Devyn nodded and went silent, Hope took this as a sign the girl no longer wanted to talk. Which was okay with Hope, sort of. Turning to lift her feet off the floor and place them underneath her her as she sat on the couch, Hope turned back to her notepad and lifted her blue, ballpoint pen. She pressed the pen to the pad as she lightly wrote down a few things she wanted to get the next time she went out. Probably should get some coke zero.... Maybe some baking supplies.... she thought to herself as the two girl stayed silent. Hope had finished taking down her supplies list when Derek announce that he was going to be buying pizza. She heard Devyn decide on Hawaiian, she looked up from her pad "As long as there's no olives, I'll eat just about anything" she said as she watched James walk out and mention something about beer. Hope scrunched up her nose at the word. Ewww.... Beer... she thought as she remembered the first time she'd ever tired it. It was bitter and quite frankly, it left a pretty horrid after taste in the girls mouth, she never planned on drinking it again, not after that first time.
When Derek told James to imagine the baseball team walking out to single ladies he nearly fell over with laughter. Man that would be a sight to see "I can't picture it!" he said as he laughed once more with Derek. When Derek mentioned him and food getting along, James could only nod in agreement. He wasn't as big as Derek, but James could eat like a tank. "I hear ya... Food is always a good thing at anytime of the day" he said as he watched Derek grab his wallet. Grabbing his own wallet, which was red with the flash symbol on it, James walked out of the room after Derek, shutting the door slightly "Want a ride Derek? I'm gonna grab a few beers" he said as he tapped his pockets to look for his keys. James found them and smiled "Thought I lost my keys.... My cars parked just out back" he said to the other male, waiting to know if Derek wanted to go with James. Car|| Hope|| JamesAttire|| Hope|| James|| OOC: Darn.... Oh well, thanks ||
