Quote:
Atlas fretted with her wing, trying to tame Grant's fly away hair that refused to do anything but flip outward. "Grant--- listen, please." She sighed, annoyed at his insistence to meet her family, but lack of seriousness he took. She'd been reluctant to agree for him to meet any of them at all, but with his constant arguing, and then silent treatment, she'd relented for him to meet Pyrr. She believed him to be the closest to her heart... and well, the most forgiving. She'd waited a while to ever even bring up friends to him in the past, just because she was afraid of his (or their) approval. It would break her heart to see Pyrr's displeasure of the company she kept... but she'd decided before agreeing that even if Pyrr, or anyone in her family for that matter, didn't like Grant well that was just too bad.

Quote:
Grant rolled his eyes, using his own wing to pat her face, gentle pushing her from his hair. "Quit that now; you'll make it frizz." He snorted, temporarily distracted by the steam that from him. It was freezing here, but apparently (according to Atlas) that was supposed to happen in this region. He'd never seen anything quit like it.... and he hated it. "I don't understand how you people live like this." He shivered visible, but prevented his teeth from chattering. "Its abhorrent. Terrible. Inhumane." He kept closer to Atlas, stealing her body heat as he drew his wings tighter against his body. "Are we almost there anyway?"

Quote:
She nodded, seeing her cave come into sight. She'd made sure Pyrr would be the only one home right now, and admitted she wanted to get out of the wind herself. Sighing with defeat she lead the way to her home. "Come on."

Quote:
Pyrrhus waited in the cavern, far in the back where he was best kept from the wind and the cold. He was properly acclimatised to the winter and the snow, but that still didn't mean he enjoyed the icy blasts.

A stray breeze ruffled his wing feathers and Pyrr glanced toward the entrance of the cave, expecting his sister to be there with her... her friend. He wasn't quite sure what to expect in that regard, but Atlas had said it was important to her, and he would do anything for her.

Quote:
Atlas peeked her head into the cave, and immediately caught sight of her brother. "Pyyyyrr." She smiled happily, continuing into the cave with a frozen Grant trailing behind her. She danced up to her big brother and threw her wings around him in the efforts to butter him up and put him in a good mood. And buying time for Grant to get it together. "Big bruuuudder." Releasing Pyrr, she turned on the spot so that her bright smile shone to both stallions. She took a breath to commence introductions, nervously, but she was brought up by Grant who'd taken the lead.

Quote:
"Hello Pyrrhus. It's a pleasure to finally meet you." Grant bowed politely, and kept a smile on his face that was surprisingly less cocky than Atlas had ever seen it. He could be quite the gentlemen for when the need called for it. And he knew how important this was to Atlas. Not wanting to cause her stress or disappointment, or in general any strain he could help, he'd pulled out all the stops. Mares weren't the only thinhgs Grant could charm.

Quote:
A smile found it's way onto Pyrr's face the moment he spotted Atlas, In greeting, he took a few steps toward her, touching her wings with his own. "Little sister," he murmured, nuzzling her before she stepped aside and revealed the stallion standing behind her.

He was a bit surprised when the stallion stepped forward without an introduction from Atlas, but the greeting was formal enough and he nodded and bowed his head in return. "Hello, ah, Grant, was it?" He glanced at Atlas for confirmation.

Quote:
"Ah, yes, sorry." He chuckled lightly, looking apologetic. "I'm Grant." He looked relaxed but he was silently cursing himself. It'd been a while since he exercised so many manners at once, though was still irritated he'd forgotten to say his own name. Not letting any of that show, however, he simply smiled encouragingly to Atlas.

Quote:
She giggled, looking quite pleased. "Grant comes from the south and isn't used to this weather." Truly it was her and Pyrr's first winter, too. She wasn't too fond of her fluffy fur that had grown in since the season changed, but when the first dip in weather came she couldn't have been more grateful. Even now it wasn't pleasant standing in direct line of wind.

Quote:
Pyrr nodded again, the corners of his lips turning up at the edges in the faintest example of a smile. "Well, then, hello Grant," he said again, extending a wing in a wave. "It is my pleasure to meet you."

He glanced over at Atlas and smiled a bit wider. "The weather really is not all the pleasant, is it," he had to agree. Winter was dismal so far. "I cannot say I blame you at all."

Quote:
With conversation having resorted to the weather, Grant actually struggled not to look uncomfortable. Quickly trying to recover, and smiled a little wider. "Thank you for welcoming me to your home. I should invest in a cave like this somewhere..." He looked around, inwardly questioning how far it went back. "I've been taking shelter in the trees but they provide minimal coverage."

Quote:
Atlas pouted at this, and didn't like him staying out in the middle of this weather. Mother said snow was possible any day now, and that just wasn't suitable for someone to be out in. Especially someone who didn't have nearly as thick a fur coat as she and the rest of her family had. "You really should, Grant." In the rare times she were serious, it was almost odd. She wasn't that good at it, but she made a great effort.

Quote:
Pyrr looked around as everyone else did. The cavern wasn't much, but it was home, and it had always been home. It provided them with shelter from the storms and the wind, and kept his family together and safe. He nodded. "A cave is much more preferrable," he agreed, looking to his sister and smiling again.

Quote:
Grant tried to keep his appearance easy going, but honestly he had expected a drill routine from Pyrr. The lack of conversation was something he was not used to-- certainly with Atlas in the room. He looked over to mare with eyes hoping to convey anytime now. The stress of silence was too much for him. Secretly, he thought she was doing this on purpose... Thankfully, though, she swooped in.

Quote:
"Soooo Pyrr." She wiggled her bottom excitedly. "I'm glad you finally get to meet one of my friends." she nudged his shoulder happily, looking like a puppy who'd just brought soemone she loved a toy to share.

Quote:
"A sunset does not look like a rabbit, little sister," Pyrr teased. It was all affection though. After all, he adored Atlas. "And also. No make up. No make up, ever." He had let her do that once as a foal, and the teasing he'd recieved...

Quote:
Grant's laughter rumbled. "I heard about that one time she managed to get you down..." He eyed Pyrr sidelong. "I must say, if she was able to get that stuff on you, I would even have been tempted to make a move." Grant tried to be as likeable as possible, and from Atlas' genuine, beaming smile he was doing alright so far. He honestly didn't understand why she had been so reluctant for him to meet anyone from her family. He found himself to be an utter hilarity and very charming, but apparently his mannerisms were a little loose for her "uptight" family. Pyrr seemed hesitant, but not as if a stick was up his rump.

Quote:
Atlas resumed her pouting. "You were really pretty Pyrr. I was jealous of those eyelashes." She sighed wistfully, and turned to glance outside the cave entrance with a jolt of excitement shot through her like lightening. "SNOW! PYRR ITS SNOW!" She squealed and bee-lined for the exit, spinning in a circle once outside. "IT'S SNOOOOWING!"
