As he was headed back toward where he had left the others behind Rilind spotted something that actually got him to slow down and give pause. Birds, rather decent sized ones, that were known as Seriffin if he recalled right. Since coming to Tale he had hunted the creatures in the past, finding them to be a bit difficult to deal with but all in all they tasted delicious. He wondered, should he give pause in his single minded rush to get back to the others to turn his attention to these birds? It would be nice to be useful, to bring food back to those that he was staying with. He didn't want to be a burden after all... just because he had been injured, just because he was still healing up, didn't mean that he was completely useless after all. It would be good for him to try to pull his weight and bringing back a bird or two that could be cleaned, plucked, and eaten would be a good thing. Alright, so then he was going to hunt for some birds instead of heading back. On the upside at least the nearest Witu to his location, those that might try to steal the birds he was hunting, were dead so maybe he wouldn't have to worry about scavengers.
With this thought in mind he started forward toward the large birds at an easy pace, taking in how many of them were around, before seeking out the one that would be the easiest for him to deal with on his own. It took him a moment but he spotted the one that would be the best for him to go after. It was a big, fat bird, oblivious to Rilind's presence, and set away from the rest of its flock. It seemed to be chasing after the bugs that were scurrying about, eating its fill of them, and that had caused it to stray. Good, that would make this a lot easier on him, not as though he wanted to take on a whole flock of these things, not given their nature. Sure, they looked like nothing but big, fluffy birds, something that was almost cute from a distance, but Rilind knew better. He knew what they were really like after all.
Shrugging to himself he drew one sword, paused just to make sure that he hadn't been noticed, before he started forward toward the creature. As he got closer it seemed to finally notice him but, instead of a lot of creatures, it didn't look startled. Instead it gave a loud squawk sound and came charging at him. It was something that made Rilind smile ever so slightly as it made the hunt a whole lot easier for him. He dodge to the side to get out of the way of the charging bird, wincing a little as the bites he'd received from the witu tugged a little. He pushed the pain aside and slashed out with his sword, lopping the creature's head clean off. Giving a sigh he started forward, pausing only when he realized that he noticed another seriffin starring at him. Great, seemed as though it wasn't going to be that easy, huh? Not when another of the birds wanted to get in on the battle.
