The human world was Lurks' very favourite thing-- after the Mother, after the Original, after the Brother, after the Many Many. Well. So perhaps it was not his very favourite thing, but he did like it better than Halloween. There were a great many rules-- don't kick that, don't eat this, don't hurt this person-- that the Human World did not require. Especially these places that were used-to-be homes, bases with ruined halls and empty rooms, crumbling stone and echoes of a different time. This base was in Greenland, covered in snow and ice and rock. At the top of a tower, Lurks was currently having fun ripping loose blocks out, and tossing them down into a nearby ravine. Over, and over, and over. He was bored.

Otto wanted to stretch his Hunter muscles in something decidedly out of his control and design. Working on his own project for so long had weathered his mind and body down to exhausted and drained. Not about to look incompetent and weak, he chose to take on a general patrol rather than take time off.
He approached the old whatever it used to be, digging his boots into the ravine's ground as he climbed. It wouldn't have been hard, had he not nearly been made faceless by a thrown block.
He shuffled quicker upwards, through anything that may better hide himself. His eyes looked upwards to the towers, spotting a figure. He wasn't able to tell if it was a human causing trouble, or if it was something else. He'd have to get closer.
He ran for the entrance, shoving his way inside and making for the stairs.

Lurks was blithely oblivious to trouble unless it wore a head of red hair. But that didn't mean he wasn't intrigued by the slightest flurry of movement he saw below. As it disappeared into a door downstairs, he jumped down to the ground below, landing with an audible thump that echoed through the ravine. The chase was on. It was like lurk and wait, but better, because Lurks did not know who he was playing with, instead of always with Waits. As Otto hit the top, he'd be able to see Lurks running through an exposed hallway downstairs, wings fluttering behind him in shades of black and red. "Hello!" he called, and it was perhaps a bit more like tag than lurk and wait, because of his impatience, "hi!"

Well, Otto knew now that this was a creature and not a people. Tenya was having slight difficulty telling what it was precisely. The figure was too far to tell. They were arrogant enough to be treating this like a game, anyway.
Otto huffed and ran back down the steps, not chancing a jump like Lurks had. Tenya whined, gloating how a dropbear like herself could do it, no problem. Otto reminded her that he was still rather human-ish enough to break at such a fall.
He took the steps down, leaping over sets of them whenever he could. His eyes focused on the bottom level for signs of squirming. But if it did have wings like he saw, this might be way harder than a simple chase.
The young man said nothing in response to the greetings. His tell-tale white and gold coat spoke enough.

Lurks crawled up out of the side of the hallway, scrabbling up the wall through loose footholds. He looked a bit like a very big mouth crawling up the wall, orange-eyes glittering up at Otto. "Oh," he said, delighted, "hunter! Hunter hunter hunter! Do you want to play?"

Otto turned on his heel, staring up at the creature as he made a shocking discovery; this was a Horsemen. A famine horsemen. Nowadays the subspecies of pony didn't cause him to shake in his shoes anymore. That didn't mean it wasn't daunting or unsettling. Otto answered him by summoning Tenya, his glare never faltering. " I don't play games with bugs." The image of bugs crawling and biting into him made him want to cringe, but he held back. His jaw held tight.

Lurks had the dignity to look extremely offended. "I am not a bug!" he yelped, a flurry of shadow-moths exploding from his various exposed bones, crawling out of his mouth, bursting from his very wings. "They are my manymany, but I am a horseman! They are just the parts."

Otto did cringe this time, his lip curling in his usual fashion of discontent. There were worse bugs he could have summoned, to be sure. Moths were gross and jittery, but Otto could handle them. The blonde, wound back his arm before hurling Tenya at the moth covered monstrosity. His reflex and speed were quick and sudden like lightning. The boomerang crashed into Lurk's with a jarring force. Lurks hold on the wall slipped, and he tumbled to the ground in a flurry of rags and bones. He landed with a sickening crack, but sat up, essentially unscathed, twisting his head back in the right direction before shaking it. "That was not very nice!" he shouted from below, before climbing up the wall from a different angle and launching himself up in the air upon reaching the top. With skeletal fingers outstretched, Lurks reached for Otto's throat as he descended. HP: 30 Damage: 4

Thanks to his shield, the attack felt more like a punch to the throat than a slice. His skin was saved, but the feeling of it did enough to make him stagger and choke. Otto wanted this guy as far away as possible, and he had just the weapon to do it. Tenya came hurling back from where ever she had flown off to. He grabbed her in one hand, smacking Lurks away as soon as he could before the creature flew anywhere again. Or worse; any of his creepy crawly friends got anywhere near him. He jumped after Lurks as soon as he'd whacked him away, swinging Tenya's bladed ends across the famine's torso while in midair. HP: 46/50 Damage: 8 Charge: 2/3

Lurks wailed mournfully, disappointed that the hunter was keeping his distance. "Come back!" he yelled, stomping his foot, never mind the fact that it was Otto who was flinging him away, not letting Lurks get closer. Well, FINE THEN. Two could play the ranged game. A sickle and chain materialized in Lurks' hand, a number of shadowy bugs dissipating as he poured the fear into his weapon. "Do you want to play tag?" he asked, and flung the chipped and rusted metal towards Otto, gaining speed as it spun and spun and spun in circles. "You're it!" Otto did not want to play tag, but he was getting hit anyway. The pain was a lot more than he expected; the bladed chain coming at him faster than he could process. It cut him up quickly, each slash burning hot with the sting of pain. He held back a cry of pain, gritting his teeth as he tried not to let on how much it hurt. Otto dropped to the floor, crouched on all fours. He looked up quickly, peeking through a curtain of hair. He gripped Tenya firmly in his hands slamming her down as he stood back up. His body shuddered, slowly but surely recovering from that furious assault on his body. Lurks had managed to hurt him enough that Otto's next attack didn't have the solidity of his previous ones. He aimed Tenya up at Lurks, the toss not filled with the same powerful swing he could have given, had he not been so injured. His shield held strong, but its power was chopped in half. HP: 26/50 Damage: 3 Charge: 3/3

His feelings were hurt. Lurks had just wanted to play a simple game, or two, or three, and maybe never let the nice human go home, and take him back to the Tower for walking and petting and feeding and more walking, but no. No, this human was not having any of it. "Why won't you cooperate!" Lurks yelled, frustrated, diving for him with a frenetic fury, tearing at his skin with sickle and skeletal hands alike. "Why won't anyone just play with me!" HP: 19-4=15 Damage: 27 Fear: BC2 used, GC2 used, TC1 remain

HP: -1/50 Otto was not prepared for just how over powered he would become; left defenceless by an ongoing attack that tore through his shield and flesh. The pain was burning and dizzying. Tenya could no longer contain her form, and reverted to a dainty necklace once more. Lurk's cries were garbled and warble as if underwater, as the heavy blows made it hard for Otto's body to keep up. He'd made a feeble attempt to hold him off, his hand's grip weakening quickly. It was obvious he needed to run, and run fast. He stuffed his trembling hand into his pocket, holding onto the warp pendant within. " Deus Ex Machina." He managed to say, after the first few attempt at speaking sounded more like small gasps for air. In a flash, he was gone. Safe in the Life Labs, looking to get patched up. The harsh lights of Deus added to his shaky disbelief that everything had gone wrong so horribly quick.
