Magic is real. But few humans ever really get to experience, or let alone witness it's power. Hidden deep within society is a small population of magically gifted individuals, or as they are otherwise known, witches. They are a tight knit group of people, all devoted to exploring their magical talents. Some dabble in spells, others curses, or even potions. Their abilities are endless. But most importantly, they are all sworn to keeping their powers secret from the world. Humans are never to know about the secret world tucked away in society.
That is, aside from a rare group of select few humans. Every year, on the first blue moon young witches and wizards hunt for their familiars. For many, this tradition is a right of passage, as once a young witch or wizard bonds with their familiar, their full powers may finally be awakened. However, hunting is not so easy as picking up a cat in the middle of the street. These talking companions are far more difficult to obtain. Familiars are humans that were transformed under the first blue moon and captured by the witch. This is not an easy process, and for many this can be a daunting task. Some spend years luring their target until that fateful night, while others simply nab a human on the street.
Once transformed, the familiar is used for however the witch pleases. Some witches develop a loving bond with their familiar, while others simply use theirs as a test subject for their various new spells. Either way, the relationship is necessary for the witch to have a successful career. This is the story of a wizard, and his / her familiar.
