Bellatrix walked into the arena with confidence. She had warmed up her muscles with a morning jog, shoved a heavy log around for good measure and practiced swatting flies to keep her reflexes sharp. She had been training all day, and was ready to fight. She knew she was a fighter from the moment she had awakened, and here was her chance to prove it.
She had never been in a brawl before, and was thankful when she was able to snag the chance to get one. Her stomach was full of butterflies with excitment and tension, but reminded herself to stay calm and not panick. No matter what.
Sizing up her opponent at the opposite end of the battle arena she noted his greenish scales and blue and grey fur. When he looked her way she gave him a swift nod. Time to attack.
Bellatrix rushed forward, aiming to knock the male in the side, and hopefully she would kick him over with her head ram.

As his opponent stepped into the arena the dark pelted Light B'alam chortled, and made no attempt to hide his contempt. This was his first brawl and it would be against a female, an attractive female, but a female none the less. His sexism was no secret, but perhaps that was why he was chosen by her.
No matter the case, she meant business. This was evident by her attack and lack of 'foreplay'. He side stepped her attack and made a tsk-ing sound with his tongue as he shook his head. "Now that's not very lady-like..."
This was a baiting technique he had used looking himself in the reflection of the crystals that filled the land of the Light Tribers. It was just as important for him to have a psychological game as well as a physical one. He thought if he could piss himself off, an opponent stood no chance to stay on their game. A furious attacker was not a focused attacker.

Now that she was closer to him, this was his chance to make contact. It didn't have to be a terribly bloody blow, but this was his chance to show that he would take no prisoners and show no mercy for the opposite gender. That is to say romanticism was not in his repertoire.
"Allow me to set the tone." The words came out in a quick stream as his body twisted from the pounce position he had previously landed in. His hind legs stretched out to reach for the female's front shoulder scales, as his tail lifted to block what he hoped was her line of sight. For this blow he trusted his muscle memory to perform at optimum efficiency. He needed to show her that he also meant business.
Eetu had practiced this move hundreds of time, but this was not practice. This was the real deal, his first real deal. His first attack in his first brawl.

Bellatrix Defending If this is wrong please tell me and I'll correct it! -1 HitPoints: 9/10 "Erk..!" She was surprised as the male pounced on her. Her claws scarped across the rocky terrain as she struggled to free herself from his grasp on her. When she did find freedom her initial instinct was to run away, out of the arena, over the hills, not to look back on the potential danger.
But instead she turned around.
Bracing herself for the next attack Bell sized up her opponent vigorously. Her blue eyes glaring upon his figure. She had thought choosing him as an opponent would be an easy win. Clearly, she was wrong.
"So you can fight." She grinned.

"SHE SPEAKS!." He exclaimed sarcastically, holding back a the worst bit of remarks that had occurred to him all at once. One of the many side-effects of having such a silver tongue and a sharp wit was that he had so many different responses, sometimes it was difficult to pick just one, even more disconcerting, they didn't always sound as good as they did in his head.
When it came to fighting, however, his body was always calculating one step ahead of the game. This way he could react no matter challenge his opponent threw his way. He also went in with the mindset that if he did not win, defeat meant death. Being hard on himself allowed him to reach new landmarks he never dreamed were possible.
In this instance, he knew that he needed to make another attempt at making his first brawl, the first of many in the W column.
"Try this one on for size." Eetu jeered as he bunched his paw into a tightly bound ball and jabbed straight out quickly, aiming for the female's nose. If his intentions were met, her eyes would begin to water, weakening her eyesight.CaliWolfe WC: 325+195=520 I think it's going pretty great! <3

His comment on her speaking made Bell flinch. He was a rather loud battler wasn't he?
"Naggh!" She brought a paw to her face as he scrapped his own against it. She had not expected that. Her nose was rather sensitive, as she assumed anyone's would be. Feeling a claw slash across it, that was just plain mean!
Through her stinging eyes Bell ushered a snarl. She backed away a few feet, nearing the edge of the ring. If he kept attacking her in such ways like this she'd have no choice but to plow into him again. To be frank that was something she almost wanted to happen. Maybe then she could send him flying off his feet.

As Bella recoiled, Eetu had to put all of his might into staying on target and not getting too over confident, for he knew that would be the best time for an opponent to strike. The male debated on his next move in nano-second-speed; was she retreating towards the edge, or was she simply setting up for another move?
No matter the case, he needed to keep pushing for the goal line.
"Where do you think you're going My Sweet?" He sneered in a domineering manner as he stalked her step-by-step. With a rawr he picked up speed and climbed up the side walls of the arena a couple steps then hurled himself towards her with his front claws thirsty for blood. He was aiming to pin her down, or hurt her trying.
This was a move that could still benefit from more practice, but it was difficult for the loud mouthed Light Triber to find sparring partners. And to find another B'alam that could carry on witty banter was next to impossible it seemed.
Stay on Target, he reminded himself.

Bell's face scrunched as she regained some small focus through her tearing eyes. In that moment as if the fear had melted away and was replaced by a new emotion. Determination. Anger. Passion.
She was so going to get the male back for this! Not that she minded any wounds on her face, mind you. It wasn't the fear of gaining a wound she hated. It was the idea that this wound was caused during her first real brawl. That this wound would form into a scar, one that if she didn't play the rest of this out carefully would remind her not only of her first brawl; but her first failure as a brawler too. The first real failure that is.
Bell stood her ground with no movements signaling that she'd leap out of the way or dodge. Well, that might have been because the plan she had formulated with the seconds she had was to....
Duck! She swooped low to the floor, watching as her opponent went breezing past.
'Now!' Her eyes widened, and she lunged forward, claws extracted with intent to finally dig into some flesh. Maybe take off some of that ridiculous facial fur he was growing...

Eetu saw the look in the female's eye change and he was overcome with a sense of victory. The blow missing her was a blessing in disguise, it angered her. Perhaps she was getting the feeling that she had the power to win, to be better than him.. It meant that he was getting under her scales, as it were.
As he did with her first attempt of a strike, Eetu was able to avoid her with some sharp and roll to the side.
Again he made a tsking sound with his mouth. "Why, dear Bella, you better be careful, you almost got me there. We wouldn't want that now, would we? You're doing well though! You should consider opening your stance a little to make the strike easier to land." Eetu smiled, chuckling under his breath as he began to circle her in a non-menacing way. Giving her brawling advice was the biggest insult he could imagine.

Bellatrix could feel the oncoming snarl in response to Eetu's advice. The nerve! She had spent a good long amount of time training, leaping over fallen logs, dodging wind tribe B'alam as they came swooping down in succession. She had even attempted to push a boulder up a cliff. Granted that had not gone as well as she had hoped, but the fact still remained that she had tried to do it!
The absolute last thing she needed was this guy insulting her non-stop. Ugh.
"I don't know..." She curved her lip up in a grin. "Your pretty irritating. I'd probably be doing you, and the other brawlers a favor knocking you out of commission." She figured that was a decent enough insult to throw back at him for all the things he had said to her.

"Awe, no.. I think you'd miss me too much. Who else would show you such a good time? I say, this is turning out to be the best first date I've ever had." Eetu made kissy noises at her to distract her from his proximity as he was getting himself into position for his next move. this was a brawl after all.
As he neared he end of his wind up he gave her a little wink and jumped over her body. Upon landing on his front paws he kicked backwards as hard as he could while his back paws were still high enough to inflict damage. It was risky due to the fact that his timing had to be perfect.
His own training was mostly strength up until this point. Lifting logs much bigger than himself, and he had even had a local tanner fashion him a satchel to fill with rocks as he climbed trees. Eetu loved the way sweat formed beneath his scales and dripped down his charcoal pelt. If he went a day without sweating he went stir crazy.

As the male flipped over her back Bell was quick to lower her ears and prepare almost for him to have belly flopped on top of her. As if to sense he was not going to do so, she spun herself to the side.
A big mistake.
"Guah!" She felt her paws move in an awkward position, the recoil from being kicked in her side scales still lingering as her lower haunches found themselves on the floor.
'oof' she landed with a small thud, and Bell had to admit being knocked over had been less painful than she had anticipated. Shaking herself free from dirt and ignoring whatever laughter she was sure the male would give; she jumped up and glared at him from where she was.
She wasn't done yet.

Anticipation! Finally! He saw it in her eyes and knew they'd hit the first checkmark in their brawl, at least on the score card of the voicetrous Eetu. This attack would come silently. Green pupils dialed-in to his prey. His muscles flexed so hard that the scales above seemed to poof out like that of a bird with miffed feathers. The crunch of the floor beneath his drawn claws as his front shoulders weaved while he lowered himself to get a strong, direct leap.
Honestly, she posed a legitimate threat to his well being if she became aware of it. That was why his psychological game was such an imperative part of his battle plan; To 'train' his opponent to expect his mouth instead of his claws. If a brawl ever struck him down where he was unable to return, he mighty make a killing as an actor with the dark tribe. But the likelyhood of that happening is quite scare considering the rules and limitation of the Brawlers Gild.
None the less, right now his only advise to his opponent was to run. This was the same tone he would take as if she had shot him back with a direct insult. It was Eetu who controlled the tone of his own emotions, and in turn the tone of this brawl.
With her side exposed to him, the B'alam finally exploded from the launch pad he had been setting up for and put his head down so the horn was parallel to the ground. It appeared as if he was going to ram the horn right into her flesh, but instead he dug it into the ground and used his momentum to fling his back feet up over his head. Coming down, those pack claws were headed straight for her.

Her initial reaction was utter and complete fear. To think, this entire time he had been preparing to attack. Even more so he had been intent on jabbing his horn into her side. Bell wasn't sure how to react to that, but by some odd instinct she attempted to block his attack with her own horn, only to find that by surprise that wasn't his intention at all.
She had little time to react before his feet struck into her side, injuring more of her damaged scales. "Ah!" She screeched again, digging her claws into the ground at the pain reached her lungs.
Standing was difficult due to the pain, but she did manage to rip herself free from the pressure of his feet. She nearly ran to the opposite end of the arena again when she stopped and turned around. A look of burning passion seized her eyes.
Bring it!
