Orlan was feeling very happy today. It wasn't because there was a lot going on. Actually, it was a very boring day. She was entirely on her own. And she LIKED that. Normally she was playing mediator between two lionesses with entirely different personalities. One was bright and bubbly while the other was mean and blunt. They always seemed to clash, though perhaps one was more aware of it than the other. Orlan did her best to keep them from getting into a brawl. She loved them both dearly, of course, but sometimes it was nice to just be on her own for a little while. Sighing to herself, the white lioness stretched her paws and got herself up, swishing her tail around as she went on a little walk. This was great- she was going to really enjoy herself while the other two were off on their own little adventures. Really, she wasn't expecting much of anything. Certainly not company.

Kimondo's day had consisted of awaking at dawn, sprinting across the landscape in search of a decent breakfast, and now devouring said breakfast happily.
He had grown up in the desert, and the grassland was no desert.
Where he hailed from food was on the low supplies list, topped with the large number of lions in his family one would think Kimondo never ate at all. He always took smaller portions to allow for his youngest siblings to eat more, as fatty as they were he was more so concerned for their health over his own.
Now, having left the desert to join the pridelands all on his own Kimondo found he was left with more food then he could eat.
Seeing a white lioness passing by in the distance Kimondo wasn't hesitate to approach. "Excuse me!" He called. "Yeah, hey, you! I can't all this myself, do you want any?"

Orlan was quite surprised when she was suddenly called to. At first, she had been thinking it would be one of the girls, furious at the other and looking for her to settle the feud. However, she soon realized that his lion was decidedly not a female, so it was impossible for him to have been one of the she was so used to dealing with, More than that, she wasn't sure she had seen him before, though that was probably because the pride lands was such a large pride. It was hard to know everyone. "oh, my, how very kind of you," the lioness hummed lightly as she moved over to the male. "My name is Orlan. What's yours?" He must have been quite the hunter to have brought back a big kill without help!

"I'm Kimondo!" He beamed in pleasure. Casting a glance to his meal he was thankful for the fact that when it came down to it Kimondo could be a pretty persistent fellow. He had tracked that antelope down and tailed after it for almost a good hour before it was cornered and gave up running from it's pursuer. At that point Kim was so exhausted he felt like keeling over himself, part from sprinting and running in small amounts for such a long time and part in due that he wasn't used to hunting prey that wasn't horribly lost in the desert. Here, animals knew what they were doing and it made his job all the more harder.
Oh well, he sighed, it was just another thing he'd have to adjust to.
"Man, this thing was hard to bring down. I'm so glad your willing to eat some because otherwise it'd just feel like a waste!" He chuckled lightly.

She smiled warmly as she sat herself near the food, though for the moment she was more interested in chatting with this impressive male over eating any of the meat. "It's nice to meet you Kimondo," she said lightly. He was a nice lion to let her have some of his food. Of course it was normal in the pridelands, but still! She liked to think that she was a little bit special. She got to have some meat before anyone else. It was kind of nice. "It's so bid. I can't believe you managed to bring it down on your own! You must be a really amazing hunter. That's good for the pride!" She laughed lightly.

"It's a pleasure to meet you too!" He beamed. It was nice to be able to provide food for others again. Nice to have hungry mouths that were keen on eating what he couldn't. Sometimes wouldn't. In a way he loved hunting for the pridelands. It was his passion, his calling. If he wasn't a hunter Kimondo didn't know what he'd do with himself.
"Oh, I wouldn't call myself amazing." He laughed at her having used such a word. If anything he was just dedicated. It had nothing to do with being good or not. At least, that was how Kimondo saw it. "I'm just persistent. Yeah, that works. Persistent." He told her.
"Are you a hunter as well?" He asked. From his short amount of time he'd been in the pride thus far he'd noticed that the majority of the pride were hunters. So it was safe to assume that Orlan was as well, he thought proudly.

She chuckled when he said he would call himself persistent instead of amazing. "Well, I guess you can call yourself that if you would like to," she hummed lightly, "but I'm going to call you amazing still, if that's alright!" She would love to get her skills up in the hunting department, so she could take down big or tricky kills, but she knew she would need a lot of work for that to happen. She didn't even know when a cheetah was a cheetah and not a lion cub! How was she supposed to make sound judgments when it came to hunting? Well, maybe they weren't really related, but still. "Yes I am," she said lightly, "though I admit I'm not very good at it. I was thinking about maybe finding another job- one that might suit me a bit better, you know?"

"Whatever the lady wants." He said with a smile, not really meaning this as offensive or anything. She could call him whatever she liked, amazing, awesome, decent, good. Even only half bad and he'd still be alright with that. After all, he was persistent. Persistent didn't make a hunter good unless they were smart as well.
He didn't consider himself overly smart either. He wasn't stupid or slow but he wasn't a genius or brilliant. Average worked best to describe Kimondo in a nutshell. He was an average lion who lived a slightly-not-so-average life.
"Yeah, I get that." He said in regards to her talking about finding a new job. As far as he knew a few new ranks had become available in the pride recently. He had been told that only being a hunter was the job a lion could do but shortly after he had joined that changed. Not that Kimondo minded of course, he liked being a hunter.
"Being a hunter isn't for everyone. What do you think you'd rather do instead?" He asked curiously.

When she was asked what job she would prefer, Orlan hummed thoughtfully for a moment. "I rather like delivering messages," she replied after some thought, "I tend to pass things along between my friends a lot, and the idea of spreading important information through the whole of the pride is quite appealing." She could be a messenger, she imagined. And she wouldn't have to kill anything and drag it back to the pride- Frigga would like that. She always complained that Orlan didn't need to be getting her fur messed up doing something the males ought to be doing. Not that Orlan agreed with that. The opposite, in fact- she felt it was the lioness who should do the hunting, though males were welcome to as well. "Well, I should probably get going," she offered after a moment, smiling warmly at the male, "I'm sure we'll meet again! I enjoyed speaking to you, amazing Kimondo."

Kimondo nodded with a faint smile. Delivering news wasn't something he was keen on doing himself, since he wasn't the greatest at remembering messages and the alike. But if someone like Orlan who passed news from friend to friend enjoyed doing that, then they would probably be very good at being a messenger!
"I'm sure you'll make a good messenger, if that's what you decide to do." He told her with confidence in his decision.
"I enjoyed speaking with you too!" He called to Orlan as she began to leave. It was nice to meet a lioness as nice as Orlan was. Kimondo was starting to hope maybe he'd meet a few more lions like that as he got more adjusted to his home. If he didn't, then that was okay too. He could always find Orlan and talk to her again if that was the case.
Oh. Unless she minded him bothering her again, of course.
With a yawn and a stretch Kimondo lifted himself off the ground. Now he'd have to figure out who to give the bit of pieces of meat left over still, since between he and Orlan not all of it was gone... Hmm. He thought on it for a moment, and then a idea popped into his mind.
This was perfect excuse to talk to another stranger, and make some more friends in this new, large pride of a place he called home now. So with that, Kimondo sat and waited. Waited with unrivaled patience for another lion to show up. So that he could offer them his kill, and maybe, just maybe, he'd make some new friends as well.
