Rex had done even less than Arorangi. There was no attempt at a costume because most assumed he wore one. It was probably the spurs. They clinked as he walked towards the training field, wondering if someone would be there or if he'd have to learn how to shoot Airheart alone. It wasn't exactly easy, with her constant bitching about everything he did. Even now, she tapped against his thigh in her holster and was complaining that he was walking like a Neanderthal. Yeah, okay, his foot fall was heavy, but that's just how he walked, okay? Get over it.

When he got there he blinked because there was a lone figure who was sitting there, staring at his weapon like it was going to do a trick. Rex wouldn't put it past anything in this place, really. "Howdy," he called out, trying to sound cheerful about it rather than nervous. "'m I interruptin' somethin'?"

Oh. Not what he expected seeing the size of the man. Yeah, Rex had been judging the book by it's cover and he was pleasantly surprised. Laughing a bit, the red-head took the offered hand with his own smaller one and just grinned. "Aro. I'm Rex. Not short for nothin'. I guess my parents wanted a dog and got me instead. Not too far off." He just grinned like an idiot before pulling away and shoving his hands in his pockets.

"Where ya from? Don't recognize yer accent." He really didn't. Hawaiian maybe? He could pass as Hawaiian.

"Just a bit over five months, not quite six." Rex grinned a bit and looked the bigger man over. He was something, wasn't he? "I mean, 's not like there's a whole lot of us. There's a fair few but we're not a giant army just yet. I reckon we will be some day. It'll be a sight." TH=he red head just shook his head at his own words and stretched himself out. "So we're both still the new kids. Fancy that. How old are you, Aro? You look older than me but you know, now a days? Looks can be really deceivin'."

Rex wanted to ask about his spear, what kind of personality it had, if the spear actually talked to him like Airheart seemed to do. But if that was a no, then Rex would come off like a loon.

"See, that's where we differ. I haven't been on even one mission. I kinda ...uh... did my own thing for a while?" The accent seemed to be getting thicker the more he talked, as if he were trying to cover it up at first and now was growing comfortable talking.

When Aro said New Zealand, Rex's eyes widened and he laughed. "So we're the same age, and you're huge compared to me! How's that fer fair?" He shook his head and then blinked a little more. Where was Auckland? He'd never heard of that place. Maybe Rex needed to spend time with a map. He shook his head a little more at the thought and then grinned.

"Ari? Nice name. This here's Airheart." He pulled out his pistol and grinned, showing Aro the fine weapon that chose him. "She's a hard headed girl, but nice every now and then."

Rex just shook his head. Physical activities were not exactly his forte. He'd rather practice shooting, which... unless he was ducking and rolling, required standing still. Oh well. They were very different and yet they were sort of the same.

The laugh took him by surprise with how deep it was. It was almost like Rex could feel it vibrating in his own chest. "Yeeeah, I didn't do a lot of sports. Still don't. I mean, I can play some football if the mood hits me, but I usually prefer to watch." There was just something about watching a sports game that you really couldn't beat. Maybe it was the sense that you felt like you were controlling it to a degree, or the fact that you could feel like you were experiencing it without actually risking injury. Rex couldn't put his finger on it, in all honesty."

His eyes flitted back to the spear and he grinned. "Is that right? Not a lot of guns?" Maybe he could show off here after all. Then Arorangi said hello to Airheart, who said nothing back and he just gave a little wry grin. "She'd say hello but she's being an a**."

Rex just grinned at the laughing. Man, this guy was really alright and relaxed. It made Rex not feel like a total tool. He'd been feeling like that for some reason, but.. Not right now. "...Well, I mean, I think we're talking about two different footballs. There's very little kicking in what I'm talking about. Uuh. This one's more about throwing, tackling. Are you talking about soccer? I know in other countries soccer is football..."

Now he felt like he was rambling.

Airheart continued to ignore this asinine drabble. She hated humans talking. It was so dull.

"Oh, sure! I'm always starving, so food's always alright with me." Not like he had any food allergies he knew of. "Lead the way."
