Now that he had been working with the sword, Tarlen knew it was time to go out and hunt down the last Ysali dragon from his first encounter with dragons. He knew that it would be hard to find the same dragon, it had been about two months since he last saw them, but he was determined. His arm had healed nicely, with scars but nothing that really made him look all that different. If anything he thought it made him look more grown up, more dangerous if anything. Getting ready he packed a small bag, not planning to stay out more than a night, and got his weapons. With him arm's length sword at his side and his bow on his back he felt that he could take on the world, even if he was still pretty young. He was proving every day that age meant nothing!
Heading out it was a few hours into his hunt when he heard something. It didn't sound as big as a dragon, but maybe it was a baby? Tarlen readied his bow and started moving as quietly as he could towards the sound. If it was a dragon he could maybe hit it with an arrow before pulling out his sword.

Esmeralda had been enjoying some great vacation time since she’d past her master exam. She’d found a nice field with some long grass and was currently sunbathing, she didn’t think there were any Ysali in this part which was why she’d gone there to begin with. Of course, she hadn’t had a single thought about the Ysali until she heard some movement and opened her eyes to look around. She held her breath, waiting and watching. The quiet shuffling came back and this time she rolled and tried to peer through the grass. She thought she spotted someone. “Psst, hey you.”

Did dragons talk? He had never heard one talk, but he wasn't all that sure. Looking around he didn't see a dragon, but he did see an older woman! And a Dovva at that! He lowered his weapon, though kept his arrow knocked. He didn't know her and he was pretty sure that she wasn't from the Wild Tribe, he knew just about everyone in it. Some people didn't like hybrids, and though it wasn't sure obvious that he was a hybrid one could never be too careful.
"Who are you?" he whispered with a curious face. He wasn't sure why he was whispering, there wasn't anything around that he could scare, but he felt it appropriate for the situation.

“Why are you still pointing your weapon at me little boy.” Esmeralda eyed him with a smile. He was just a child! Barely younger than Minerva and quite obviously a Hybrid too. So adorable. Maybe she should have more children? The thought had never struck here until now, perhaps… But her train of thoughts was interrupted by some more shuffling through the grass. “I’m Esmeralda, who are you?” Again the shuffling noise was heard and this time, Esmeralda shifted up and looked around. She spotted a Ysali nearby and ducked right back down quickly. “There’s a Ysali, better be careful.” Where there was one, there was bound to be two.

At her words he began to feel a little silly and blushed. "Well I don't know you, and I rather be safe than sorry... But it is kinda silly..." At that the weapon fell to his side, the arrow in one hand and the bow in the other. "My name is Tarlen, it's nice to meet you Esmeralda." he said with a slight bow. He might have belonged to the Wild Tribe, but he knew his manners.
The noise had been unnoticed to him in his shame, until she ducked and said something a Ysali. He smiled and knocked his arrow again, looking around for the creature. "That's perfect, I've been hunting for one." he said excitedly. He wasn't sure if she would try to stop him, or get in the way. He didn't see a weapon her, but that didn't mean she didn't have one.

“Better be careful or you’ll get eaten.” Esme couldn’t exactly leave a little kid out here by himself to hunt the Ysali. “There might be more around.” Again Esme lifted up her head and spotted the Ysali which had not moved from its spot. It looked like it was just digging around for something or maybe it was eating something too. Esmeralda lowered herself again and pointed to his left. “That’s where it is.” She’d watch him, if he got hurt she could easily use her magic to heal him and scare off the Ysali. She didn’t know if he was even strong enough to kill a Ysali.

He laughed under his breath. "I've already killed two of them!" he boasted proudly. He wasn't sure what kind of people she knew, but he could take care of himself, and he would prove it to her!
When she pointed out where the dragon was he moved stealthy towards it, keeping away from it's view. He knew he had to do good, and kill it fast. More so for his pride than anything else. This dragon was even smaller than the ones he encountered before, but still he wouldn't mind having another orb to add to his collection.
He looked back at Esmeralda once more with a big smile before looking at the dragon and releasing an arrow. He barely saw the arrow piece the dragons face before he had another arrow knocked and flying towards the dragon. The first one had hit and startled the dragon, and hurt it pretty bad. There was blood all over it's face and it seemed to be blinded. He let out a third arrow into it's chest, which was where the second arrow hit. The dragon fell, dead.
Tarlen let out a whoop. "You see I got it!" he said proudly to the older woman. Unbeknownst to him there was a second Ysali dragon getting ready to attack him from behind. As always his pride was in his way, he was too excited to pay attention to his surroundings.

The Peisio Dovaa gave Tarlan a dubious look. Thene if Minerva had told her she was killing dragons at his age she wouldn’t have believed her either! At least he’d killed two before so she figured that was some progress right? She still didn’t enjoy the idea of little children being out here and hunting down dragons. She would not however, interfere with things. She had long ago accepted that Dragons were always going to be killed for power and there was absolutely nothing she could do about it. Esmeralda accepted this fact as she accepted all other facts, by turning a blind eye.
Though as she watched him she had to give him some credit, the little guy was fast. Three arrows and the dragon was down. Okay so maybe she had under estimated him just a little bit. Except that as she got up she spotted the other dragon ready to pounce him and that launched her into action. She let a water burst fly from her hand as she ran towards him through the grass, the water wouldn’t stop the Ysali but maybe surprise it and give Tarlen enough time to actually get an arrow in it. “Look out!”

She was proud, she had to be proud. He was proud. But than a burst of water went past his head ans she started going towards him. He tilted his head in confusion until her words hit him. He turned, spotting the dragon that was much to close for him to shoot with his arrows. He grabbed his sword and thrust it towards the dragon. He was able to stab it a few times but it wasn't going down without a fight.
He felt the blood on his left arm, though he didn't think that it was as deep as the one he suffered during his last fight. Finally with a final thrust the dragon was dead.
With his hands on his knees he looked up at Esmeralda with a sheepish grin. "I killed it...?" he wasn't as proud about this one, after all if it wasn't for her he would have been dragon food.

For a split second she thought the dragon would have him, she had a brief moment of pure panic because she would be unable to heal him from such an injury. When she finally reached him though, while he was injured he was not dead and she let out a deep breath. “Come here so I can heal you.” She said in a motherly voice because she just couldn’t help herself. She spread her fingers apart and summoned some water that swished gently in her hand, when he extended his arm towards her she would let the cool water run over his wound to heal it shut. “You need to be more careful.”

He walked towards her unable to do anything else. Maybe it was her mother voice, or maybe it was the fact that she pretty much saved him, but he would do just about anything that she asked him to do.
"Normally I'm more careful." he said with a nod of his head. He was distracted by his pride and he now knew that he had to be more careful with it.
He watched as his arm was healed. Magic was so useful, for what seemed the millionth time he wished he had skill with magic. "Thank you very much." he said with a bright smile.
"So what were you doing out here before I found you?" he asked curiously. Normally people weren't out there just chilling and she didnt look like she was out hunting.

“Always be aware of your surroundings.” Esmeralda said, eyes still on his healing arm until the magic had done its work. “There we go.” She gave it a gentle tap and offered him a smile. “You mean before I found you?” She chuckled lightly. “I was enjoying a bit of peace and quiet, I just passed my master exam.” That dreadful exam which she’d passed with flying colors. Though before she took on her duties she’d taken a few weeks off to rest and enjoy life for a bit. “Were you out hunting?” She guessed the answer was probably a yes, but maybe he’d been out doing something else too.

He nodded. His mom had told him that before, but being told by another mother just made it drilled into his head a little more. At least he thought she was a mother. She hadn't said anything about a daughter, but the way she spoke just made it seem like she had at least one child.
He nodded. Maybe he wasn't as good as a hunter as he thought. At least in the tracking area. She had found him, not the way around, and than there was the second dragon. Maybe instead of his weapon practice he needed to work on stalking.
Her master exam? Oh yes he hard heard of those before. They were hard from what he heard. "Well congrats! If it's as hard as I think I've heard than you deserved it and I'm sorry for interrupting you."
He nodded eagerly. "I'm looking for a certain dragon that got away from me a while ago." He looked towards the orbs. "Those weren't it though. But at least now we have to orbs." he went to grab the two of them. Although two more would be nice, it would be better for her to take one. She did save his life after all.
"Do you want one?" he offered with a smile, holding it out towards her. "As a congrats for passing your master's exam."

“Well worth the hard work.” Esmeralda cast him a sad smile before turning to look over the grass. “You didn’t bother me.” A little action was never unwanted, plus she was going to be doing a lot of desk work now that she was a master. “I’ve no need for orbs anymore really.” She had plenty in her collection which she had donated to Minerva, but she was keeping a few for her trial to dragon form. “That’s kind of you.” She decided to take them anyway, couldn’t let all his hard work go to waste. “Well I think that does it for the day.”
