DepartureNot knowing what they might be doing other than picking out a computer for Ever, Zeke had packed light. Having lived in Florida previous to Deus, his clothing ran to lighter fabrics and shorter sleeves. There were two shirts were longer sleeves, one was a thermal, and he'd thrown that on under a cotton tee. The other was an under armor shirt he'd bought for the gym. The latter was added to his bag, along with a second pair of jeans(dark, no holes), socks, and boxer-briefs. His hunter coat was draped over his bed, it'd be staying behind. In it's place the Mist had a short, thin, black jacket. Stylish, great for the climate he'd been living in, but definitely not Colorado autumn ready. He was definitely taking his scarf. It was pushed into a side pocket on his bag along with a wool hat. Phone, and wallet were safely in his pocket, and he was actually wearing his glasses for a change. Packed and ready, he headed out into the hall, locked his door behind him, and made his way to Ever's dorm. Three swift knocks announced his presence. "Hey, you ready?"

DepartureEver packed light as well, but that was mostly just because that was how Ever packed: a single shoulder bag with a change of clothes in it, a pack of cigarettes, battered bundle of ID and debit card. He'd dressed warmly but the way he knew to dress warmly -- in layers. It meant he wore a t-shirt and then a long sleeved shirt and then a sweatshirt and, draped over one arm, a battered army jacket, sleeves frayed at the hem and someone else's old patches still fixing up holes on the shoulder. He'd be sweltering if he put it on in the tropical heat. Honestly, he was kind of sweltering anyway, sweating under the weight of a wool hat. He grinned at Zeke's question and offered a crooked salute, sliding past him into the hall and away, to lead him off toward the portal.

DepartureEver dressed in layers, that was normal, but with the added bulk of the sweatshirt he looked bigger. It had Zeke quirking a brow as he returned the grin, but instead of commenting he merely reached out to lay a hand at the small of the other man's back, sliding down so he could count the layers, then let it fall away. "How are you not melting in this heat?" Not that it was that bad in the dorms, but they had to walk to the lighthouse, outside, in the sun. He gave the wool hat a long look as well, then just shrugged and fell into step beside him as they headed out to the portal. It was hot outside. After a month he'd gotten pretty used to it, but he was usually only in jeans and tee-shirt, and his jacket. The latter of which being lightweight and thin. Being that this was his first leave, he let Ever do the talking when they reached the portal, and observed. Amulets were handed to both of them, and the portal itself was fired up. After slipping his into a pocket, he made an 'after you' gesture to Ever, grinning.

Super 8
"...but why? We're just going to sleep." A beat. They were going to do more than sleep, probably, but that didn't make the case for Ever. What difference did it make where they stayed for one single night, so long as there was a bed and a shower and the door locked behind them?
The expression on his face was genuinely confused as he blinked down at Zeke. Cee had been the same, and obviously Ever didn't get it.

Super 8
"Because I don't trust the poor sob working less than minimum to remember to change the sheets between guests, and I'd rather not tuck in between someone else's good time." He stared up at Ever, features set stubbornly. It wasn't just about aesthetics. Cleanliness, that was his big concern here.
"Have you seen the specials on tv? The ones where they run the black like through to budget motel? Disgusting." It was possible Ever had not. Zeke had gotten the impression that the blonde didn't watch a whole lot of tv.
Lips twitching up slightly at one side, he lowered his voice, leaning closer. "I'd prefer nothing that questionable touch your skin." Subtly was boring.

CPUEver stuck close to Zeke from the moment they entered the store, hands in his pockets [a habit, meant to show he wasn't about to steal anything] and attention flickering uncomfortably over expensive machinery. It wasn't that he'd never been into a store like this before, just that it had never been a frequent occurrence. And it had never been for him. "I assume you're doing all the talking." It was halting, uncomfortable, standing too close but not quite shoulder to shoulder with Zeke. He shook his head a bit.

Super 8"...honey, I've slept on subway benches." It was laughing, easy -- true, but not all that concerned about it, and certainly not embarrassed. He shook his head as he looked down at Zeke, both of his eyebrows raised. "I've woken up with dried gum in my hair. I don't imagine anything in a cheap hotel is worse than that." But, if Zeke was paying...

Opposite to Ever's discomfort, Zeke looked utterly at ease. An interested gaze was turned down to a newer model netbook, attention resting there for a moment as he red of the product specs on the card. "Mmhmm." Not exactly what they were looking for, but tempting.
He looked up, took note of how close Ever was hover, and managed to casually bump his hip as he moved past him down the row of laptops. "You want something for online courses, but is that all you want it to do?" Hazel eyes were flicking over the price cards, scanning the specs, even as he spoke. "Do you want it to play music, or movies, or games?" He doubted it, but just on the off chance, it was better to ask. It was a pain in the a** trying to upgrade a laptop. They were handy, but what you bought was most often what you got.

Super 8
None of this information seemed to bother the Mist. He kept a level gaze turned up to Ever as he recounted past experiences, and smiled right back at him. "And I wasn't in the habit of sucking on your neck, or other body parts, at that time. No super 8. No Motel 6. Nothing with a ******** number in the name." The last was said in a murmur against pale lips. A stolen kiss before he was leaning back and starting down the sidewalk towards a tall glass and granite tower that read 'Hyatt Regency' along the tippy-top right hand side.
"It's one night. I'll pay, but dinner's on you."

CPU"No. Just...the word processor thing." And then a pause, shaking his head, distracted by some new MP3 player which was actually the better part of a decade old. Beyond it were CDs. The juxtaposition confused him a bit. "And the internet, of course." He looked back to Zeke, because that was easier to focus on. "Just...cheap. Decently sized would be good, though, since I don't have to lug it around..."

CPU"Bare bones, cheap, and decent sized," he listed back, glancing up for confirmation. What Ever wanted would have been a lo easier to find ten years ago. Now, everything was packed to the gills with so much useless bullshit. It was usually easier, if you knew what you were doing, to wipe the system and rebuild from scratch. With limited access to resources on Deus, that wasn't going to be an option. He was going to have to go through and remove useless programs one at a time. Effective, but time consuming. Oh well. Zeke gave Ever's side a nudge to get him moving down the row, stopping him quite a ways down in front of a sleek looking laptop that would load s**t up quick, but didn't have d**k for a graphics card, or an abundance of space. Simple. "What about this one?" He held up the price card, readin. "Fifteen inch, duel core, it'll do what you want, but not a whole lot else." Very much a work laptop, if work was limited to word processing and data collecting. Perfect.

CPU"...are we sharing?" Ever looked skeptical -- or maybe confused -- as he eyed the machine. To him, it looked expensive, excessive, and while there was just a note of something excited behind it -- there was no way he'd be able to say yes to this unless he was pushed just a little. Good thing that Zeke seemed willing to direct, to push, to demand, and generally to take charge. He shook his head. "Or are you getting something? Didn't you need one, too?"

CPU Zeke flicked the price card back and forth against the back of hi hand, meeting those skeptical, dark eyes. "Kind of, not really. It'll be yours, but it needs to be set up. They come with a lot of useless programs and other miscellaneous bullshit that you won't need or ever want to touch, so I'll get rid of everything except what you'll need for classes and anything else you might want." He paused, gaze twitching up as features went thoughtful. "After it's modded." Runiced. As he understood it, the thing wouldn't even work on island without being set up to run on runes. To the other questions he rolled his shoulders in an easy shrug, smiling. "I don't really need one, so much as I want one." He glanced back down at the card. "I would want one with some slightly better specs, but I'd want to load it up with music, as well as research." Head tilting, Ezekiel looked back up at Ever. "Did you want to share, for now?"

Dinner for twoOn his side, propped up on his elbow and glasses pushed up on his head, Zeke watched Ever, an amused smile on his face. "How do you not have a favorite?" When he'd asked, he'd gotten a vague whatever in response, and that seemed to baffle the Mist as much as Zeke's pickiness in a hotel had confused Ever. "Well, how about a least favorite? What don't you want to eat tonight?" As pertinent as the questions were to what they were doing, Zeke was also curious. Week of spending time together, and Ever was still anything but boring.

"You're going to show me how to use it." There was a beat -- and then a sigh, slow, gesturing at the computer. Ever'd take it, if only to get this over and done with. Even if handing over his card pained him. Even if Taym's little gift covered most of the purchase.
But he'd walk out with a laptop, at least.
